      @@TechTyrial i gotta say one thing, outside of first world countries consumer protection isn't very good/well enforced. For example, I am from India (but I will be going to canada for uni) and here, Lenovo and HP laptops have great service but MSI and Asus (Asus TUF series is an exception due to the amazing price for performance) don't sell too well due to poor service, so you should be really careful what you buy.

    I’ve had the 2021 G15 for nearly a year now. And luckily it all seems to work fine. Thermals are good, WI-FI works and it’s not too noisy for a laptop. I did get the occasional stuttering which I believe is an AMD issue but it was infrequent and hasn’t happened at all recently. I hope Hassan gets his sorted out, even though mine has been good so far experiences like Hassan’s will factor into my choice when I want to upgrade in the future.

    In my quest to find a laptop during the pandemic I was thrown through it all. Had an HP Spectre that was defective as diagnosed by Best Buy, so they exchanged it. Then the replacement fully died after 6 months, so I was (thankfully) given my money back. Then I bought an Asus ZenBook (an expensive one that was about $1200), and it dies in 6 months. I then tried Asus Zephyrus laptops and Asus Strix (Advantage Edition) ones since I liked the Asus keyboards, and all were faulty; from backlight bleed to keys being broken on the keyboard from factory, to stuttering and lagging that when I showed the store they were astonished. Asus. Never. Again.

    I had a similar problem with my ASUS G513RW (6800H + 3070ti). I got a faulty unit that had a mux switch issue, the computer was freezing constantly and the extreme mode was not working with the notebook display. The problem was that a bought it in the amazon UK but was living in Brazil and the asus customer service refused to solve the issue there claiming that the model was not a Brazilian one. Because of that I discovered that the international warranty covered only a few countries. Eventually I found someone that could bring the notebook to a repair shop in Italy and the guys there complained that the original box(package) was not present. My friend had to sign a paper saying that if they needed to transport the notebook and it broke, it would be his fault. After one month the notebook was successfully repaired. In summary, the entire experience was terrible and I will never buy another asus product again. I still think that my unit is running hotter than it should, maybe they messed up with the thermal paste. Regarding the gpu wattage, mine reaches over 115w only when I remove the cpu turbo boost and cap the wattage.

      i have the ryzen version and know somebody with the intel one. It's really fine since the intel version is just as good if not slightly better performing (while pluged in) but the difference isn't big. The difference is the battery life, intel perfoms less on battery and also lasts shorter compared to the amd model since ryzen are super power efficient chips

      If the laptop dies after a few days then it is nearly 100% because of liquid metal leakage. There were some issues in the beginning of the production and they messed up the automated application (because it was still relatively new). I mean, be happy those issues show early so you can return it and/or get a replacement😁

    Hi Tyrial, was just about to order the G15 when I found this. Currently in my country I find two offers, the ASUS ROG Strix G15 G513RM-HQ012 AMD Ryzen 7 6800H/16GB/1TB SSD/RTX3060 and the Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6H AMD Ryzen 7 5800H/16 GB/512GB SSD/RTX 3070. Since this is my first gaming laptop I am really lost on how to compare the two. The 3070 is naturally better in the Legion but the Asus has a newer GPU and faster ram and larger SSD. The Legion is 50€ more expensive so the difference in price is not a factor. If we assume that Asus fixes the GPU issue, would Legion still be the better choice even if it is last year's model?

    Please add that it is the Nvidia version of the G15 Strix. My G15 Advantage runs absolutely perfect, is even cheaper and has significantly better performance. There is quite a big difference between those models. So please. G15 Strix is not G15 Strix. Please kindly add "(RTX3060)" to the title. The g15 Strix Advantage is by far, even to this date, the best price to performance laptop on the market. There is literally no competition at this pricepoint. If people are dumb enough to buy the crappy Nvidia version for the same price or even higher...well thats their own fault.
    I personally had 3x g15 Advantage (european modells tho, WQHD display) and 2x of my friends have the same and it runs flawlessly. I mean you could always run into faulty models but its not a common occurence. I personally tested all 5x G15 Strix Advantage intensively and both temps and clocks were perfectly fine. Same performance across the board as well. I do say tho, LM is kinda meh in Laptops. Had to replace that on my main one after half a year for some high quality thermal paste. I cannot relate to any of the problems mentioned here at all..then again, quality control might be better in europe. Idk.

    I Completely Agree. ASUS g15 Advantage edition.. when I first got it bios performed really well boosted nice nice temps. but soon the new G15 came my benchmarks went down way down. 11800 Timespy New, 9600 after bios update. this is very bad because gaming performance is now laggy, the wattage is locked and overclock gives black screen despite laptop being factory overclocked. I lost all fait in AMD ADVANTAGE EDITION . I am from India and we paid 2x money for the same thing which is sad because we work just as hard to earn that kind of money. even till this date I have stutters, screen problems, high temps, gpu and cpu under performance. it breaks my heart........ I was an AMD fan boy and now regretting it badly the 12th gen intel and new 3070ti was the way to go with full wattage system. My asus is stuck at 45 watt cpu amd 110 watt gpu. Sorry to rant so much. AMD response: Jose R. (AMD) 23 Aug 2022 21:45 GMT+2 Dear Edward, Thank you for your prompt response, and for offering these videos as an example. We fully understand the inconvenience of users who are facing this same situation, and we will gladly assist them with their AMD products as long as these situations fall within AMD Support's scope of work, but this is the important thing to clarify, that we cannot support issues that are outside of our support capabilities. As AMD Support, we are limited to software and hardware offered by AMD as separate components, and any other official AMD products that we may protect under our warranty agreement. That said, the ASUS BIOS issue is out of the hands of AMD, both as a support and as a company, since the development of the BIOS for a product or series of products falls into the hands of its manufacturer, and in this specific case , these are the hands of ASUS.
    I am very sorry that you feel that AMD does not see importance in correcting the problem of this series of laptops. As responsible for the AGESA instruction library for Zen architectures, AMD released as soon as possible the correction of the bug in the micro-code related to the fTPM of the BIOS of various manufacturers. Once this update is released, the responsibility falls on each manufacturer to implement these updates in their respective BIOS, since AMD does not develop BIOS for its processors, only the AGESA instruction library. At this point it is the responsibility of ASUS to respond to its customers and buyers about the products purchased, especially if they have any problem that is considered under the product warranty. I understand that you want us, as manufacturers of your laptop's CPU, to intercede with ASUS to resolve this situation, but as a component manufacturer we cannot influence their internal decisions, as we are one of their many suppliers, and while it is true that our components are at the core of their products, they remain products that ASUS designs and manufactures using our products, something that does not give us the authority to demand solutions, as they are not entirely our products. I must also mention that given the diagnostics that we have done on your laptop, we have not been able to locate other alternatives to improve the performance of your laptop, since the issue lies in the BIOS and its operation, something that is already outside our scope of work. I hope this extended explanation helps clarify the scope we have as a support group and manufacturer. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us again. Cordially, Joseph

    Hi, I bought this Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition G513QY-HQ008W laptop last year and I'm claiming it for the fourth time. When I have a monitor connected via USB-C, the graphics crashes and the laptop won't turn on. First they fixed the cooling, then they replaced the motherboard. Once I upgraded to windows 11 and updated drivers from AMD or Asus always the same scenario occurs. it manifests itself even after restarting pc. Just restart several times. The monitor will not boot. I have to unplug usb-c and replug, then until the next reboot it runs relatively ok. Currently in service for the 4th time ... since 12/22/2022 in "wait" status and nothing happens. I'm hoping for a refund on Monday as it will be 30 days on Saturday. I am really unhappy about this. I'm scared that they won't accept my claim.

    I just got this laptop 2 weeks ago. Wish I saw this before buying it. So far I haven't had any issues other than the temperature getting very hot under the wasd keys, but sad to hear that I wont be able to increase the performance if I need to in the future. It seems to be the cpu that gets the hottest also. Paid 2.2k in canadian dollars for it, on sale.

      If it's less than a month of ownership you should be able to return it. I bought mine from Newegg and that's their policy. Just do a factory reset prior to the return. You do not want any of your personal info getting into the hands of the next buyer.
      And I did initially buy the laptop you bought only I got the ASUS Strix Scar 15 version. I had screen flickering, my wifi card stopped working for a whole week without any explanation and then the charging brick would overheat after 45 minutes of playing Civilization 6 and would have to safety switch shutdown the whole charger. What's the point of a high end gaming laptop if you can only game at high settings for 45 minutes before it massively throttles down?
      On paper the ASUS Strix 15 lineup looks like the best deal around, but there are so many recurring issues with this laptop line that many people are returning them as faulty and it's starting to gain a bad reputation among potential buyers. I would strongly recommend you return yours if you are able to do so and buy something else. If you wish to buy from ASUS ROG still then the Zephyrus line is their best option. But you would be better served if you bought a Lenovo, MSI, Acer or Gigabyte made gaming laptop. Hell, even Alienware might be a better made product and they are almost always buggy. And avoid Razer right now too. Razer still makes good laptops but they overcharge you for buying from them; you can get more for less if you buy elsewhere.

    • @dg8589
      @dg8589 2 года назад

      @@SeemsLogical I'm not sure if the problems are big enough to justify the time to return and get another one, bht ive experienced alot of heat coming from my charging brick as well, it hasnt shutdown but yea its always hot even when not doing high impact games.
      Ive had bad experience with acer, and really really bad experience with lenovo. Ive had alienware products before and they worked great until you had to repair it which is impossible to do with everything alienware being so proprietary. Havent tried msi

    • @SeemsLogical
      @SeemsLogical 2 года назад +1

      @@dg8589 MSI is the best of the best right now. They truly excel at the higher budget laptop market. The MSI GE76 Raider is their most popular gaming laptop right now but their most powerful is the MSI Titan. If your budget allows it either of those would be a good purchase.
      And my personal experience is different. My last laptop was an Acer Predator 15 (2017 model) and it worked beautifully. It was heavy, the fans could get loud but it ran every game I threw at it on high settings with no overheating. I just wished it had more storage space is all. So I upgraded to a Lenovo Legion 7 and have had zero issues since buying it. It runs smooth and runs a bit hotter than my Predator but is much lighter and is more powerful. In a way I expect some of those trade offs but I am happy with both of them. Alienware and ASUS are the companies who gave me the most issues. Alienware is a struggle to repair and ASUS I told you about already. But good luck if you decide to return it. And extra good luck if you decide to keep it.

    I'm using top model Strix scar 17 , everything work fine except it has the same problem as hassan. it has random micro stutter ( well known as AMD TPM Stutter) and look like it doesn't get fix on laptop. On Pc motherboard AMD release some bios update to fix the issue but feedback is separate into two way. somebody said that after update bios it didn't fix anything stutter still occur. somebody said problem already fixed they didn't notice any stutter.
    I think that root of issue come from AMD processor which has micro stutter defect (TPM STUTTER). and AMD announced that it has been fix , but actually it hasn't
    and now amd ignore this problem like it already solve while a lot of people still having problem.

    I bought this laptop from amazon, ASUS TUF Gaming F17 17.3" Full HD 144Hz Gaming Notebook Computer, Intel Core i7-12700H 2.3GHz, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB, Windows 11 Home, Mecha Gray. Will i be OK, Only reason i bought it because it had bigger screen then the rest and i like big screen. Also Windows 11 did some updates and apparently ASUS flash utility came up automatically and restarted and was going to update new bios version. NOW VERY BAD FOR NEW USER, I even went in there chat told them this and I have to say there support is garbage piece of shit support from ASUS. I really never like ASUS because of time i bought monitor from them and i called support told them there was red dot on it they didn't want to help me said it was my problem. NOT COOL. I"m giving them 2nd chance with this laptop. But i don't know all the stuff i'm hearing from them makes me sad wish i bought somewhere else. We will see haven't tested a lot of games yet.
