I already loved Asriel in Glitchtale, but after watching The Last Hope, he has become my favorite character in the series. In fact, the way his character arc was concluded here felt even more fitting than how it ended up in the original series. The reason why I say this is because throughout the series, Asirel has been having this ongoing character arc about him making up for all the actions he committed as Flowey as well as dealing with many other things that affected him throughout his life. The series was handling all of this greatly until it reached the finale. During the final battle against Hate, Asriel is seemingly about to be killed once again. However, he refused and transformed. That was a cool moment don't get me wrong, but that’s the point where Asriel’s character arc decides to end, and I feel more could've been done. Sure, Chara thanks Asriel for being his brother but that’s about it. In The Last Hope, however, things are different. I always thought that the finale of Glitchtale would’ve been better if Chara had died, but I knew that couldn’t happen because Chara was the Player. That means if he did die, it would be “GAME OVER” and the world would be erased. However, this was accomplished in TLH with Chara fusing with Asriel (in a similar manner to how Frisk fused with Sans back in Season 1) and having “him” become the new player. But why do I think that Chara should’ve died? Well in Undertale, one big factor that played into the ending of the game was Asriel letting Chara go and moving on. Sure, it's satisfying to see him and Chara reunited in GT, but his conclusion in Undertale felt more fitting. And the way how TLH called back to that was done masterfully! The scene where Asriel is forced to shatter Chara’s soul is genuinely gut-wrenching, and just like in the original finale, Chara thanks Asriel for being his brother, only it packs so much more punch this time because of the situation that Chara is in. It was an incredibly executed emotional moment and it was a great way to end Asriel’s character! And this video right here feels like a perfect send-off for both him and The Last Hope project as a whole! Major props to everyone involved for bringing this entire project to life!
The last scene where Asriel was forced to shatter Chara's soul they both merged but we know if chara died the world would get erased with him, but Asriel and Chara both fused up making Asriel the new "player" and the red eye Asriel got was actually from Chara.
