What does it mean to evaluate "stability"?
To be honest, there is no right answers to these questions.
Whenever possible, I like to test patients/clients in ways where I can evaluate one limb compared to the other. Even better if I can get a quantifiable measurement.
This clip highlights one way we can evaluate upper body stability using the FMS Motor Control Screen.
Simply just slide the box as far as possible while stabilizing on the other arm.
I'm looking for obvious differences side to side, excessive effort when doing the task, and/or pain (obviously).
Train and teach them up with a trial of care and then re-measure. Easy.
