Amazing job. Liked the improvised arch support, simple and foolproof, nothing to knock out the way. Nice to see some old stocks with frogs, those bricks look like they will last forever and just get better with age. Lastly didn't think I'd ever be lucky enough to see the art of slate wedging. And you finished by 5pm. The pointing above has to be left for another day. Great job.
Quality job as always mate. It reminds me of my first ever private job, I had a doorway to brick in, being a little bit inexperienced at the time I came unstuck when it came to laying the bricks because as like in this video it didnt work bricks. I spent ages toothing out, stuck a mix in, got my lines set up and started laying bricks from left to right and realised that It had a closure in it! Absolutely sole destroying. But being the bricklayer I am I did the right thing by toothing out a bit further and introduced a couple of 3quarters. It didnt look too bad in the end. Cost me more money and time than I intended but I was never ever going to put that closure in it.
Us Plumbers make it our lifes work to make jobs awkward for brickies and plasterers lol Nice job Steve sometimes the little jobs are the worst Yet again left a nice tidy job at the end very professional.
Hello daddy, At your age i was already stopped with working at saterdays. Enjoy living life. I saw your super Makita radio standing at the job site. Good vibrations. Greetings from a dutch carpenter.
Belter of a job, Steve. Looks like it grew there! How did you manage before you go yourself one of the finger trowels, they are a godsend for jobs like that.
Another great video. How did you find working with those bricks. Lovely brick once They’re laid. But in hot weather there an absolute nightmare. Soon as you lay them the motor is going off they suck water. Leave them in the spring and had them sat in a wheelbarrow full of water. They were that bad .
Hello. Thank you for video. I have tree entrances to the kitchen and I want to block one of them, external. My problem is not how brick it up, but what premissions do I need and who should I contact? I can brick up the doorway myself. UK.
Nice job Steve , Yup the awkward fiddly buggers take all day and having to tooth out a bit more , though it saved you having to use broken bond that would've looked shite. Good job mate as usual . Sorry I was late for class Lol.
Hi guys, I have a question. Can 5 or 6 courses of bricks in the middle of a flank be removed and replaced successfully? I live in a new build and the consistency of joints in brick work over those 5 courses is poor and the builder has given me the option of having it replaced but at the same time are trying to put me off because of how the new mortar won't match the existing!
The only downside of this job ? Is your brick work looks better than the original brick work. One thing about bricklaying ? It always looks easy to do. Until you try to do it yourself, LOL.
I do love the way you say “Bit of a set back, but hey ho, never mind”. Just goes to show, as always, your professional attitude. Hats off to you Sir!
