Wow it's really good, i was using it to remove some text from a wallpaper i'm using, and it works much better than photoshop, photoshop makes a ok looking mess when content aware filling, but with resynthesizer you couldn't tell that there was anything there.
Excellent Sir You made my evening ! I agree with some other comments read below ; this should be included in Gimp as native script (as soon as possible)
wow! i did not know about this. i assumed that one edge Adobe had over GIMP was very expensive AI research. but this looks super effective. a must download that I'll enjoy working into projects almost immediately.
Old tutorial, but starting with gimp I found it great as I am always editing photos on cell phone apps, and on pc they look bad. I will be lloking more into this program.
I use GIMP and some days ago I saw this feature in a photoshop tutorial and was thinking if there is something similar for GIMP and found this video. It was really helpful. Thanks for sharing this. Newsubs here.
You could save the rooster (or whatever object you're removing) in the clipboard, paste it back in later as its own layer, and play with the opacity. You'd come up with some interesting transparency effects.
Hey this looks really nice. I've been using one of the tools in g'mic to do this, but this looks like it's easier. I will definitely be trying this one out. Thanks =)
On this example, what would be the easiest way to keep the rooster on another layer along with the background for later 3d effects? In PS, you can quickly select the rooster, right click and layer via cut/copy, then clone, heal the background and now you have two elements of the photo. How in GIMP? Thanks!
Great video, especially for Windows users. I don't suppose you fancy doing a video on how to download and install this onto Linux Mint (20.1) (assuming it's possible). That would be incredibly helpful. If not, I'll have to continue the old fashioned way with clone and heal. Unfortunately, none of G'MICs repair, inpaint methods worked on one of my photos I tried it on. Perhaps there was too much detail that confused the algorithm, I'm not sure.
I know this is an old video, but why did you have to pull the individual files out? Would it not work if you'd created a folder called resynth in the plugins directory? Just seems over time it would get messy in there. All of the others are in folders.
i do everything like on this videos an also try it with 32 and 64 bit but still not work.. dont have the heal selection can u help me pls.. whats wrong?
Great information, thank you. I noticed this video was made four years ago. Do you know if the plugins are safe to install into Windows 11 Pro? My laptop is only six months old and I have had to restore it four times due to a glitch with Photoshop Elements 11! What a nightmare that was.
Yo I have a question i want habe an old logo in a better quality so when ich scale it up to my 4000x4000 it ist so like a Pixel art do you have a Tipp because i need it for a good friend
Nice tutorial! However the manual healing at 6:30 doesn't make sense, it just makes the image worse IMHO. It would make more sense to take some time for fixing the edges.
mine keeps saying "Calling error for procedure 'gimp-procedural-db-proc-info': Procedure 'plug-in-resynthesizer' not found" what do i do? I tried reinstalling it agin but it keeps saying the same thing.

If you installed all the scripts from this tutorial, you should be able to go to Filters>Enhance>Enlarge & Sharpen. This allows you to scale the image up, and then sharpen the image after you've scaled it up so that the quality loss is minimized.
I figured it out already myself lol, so for everyone who got the same problem and cant find the "heal" icon. Just press H on your keyboard and it will pop up
Thought I'd give this a try. I downloaded the new version 2.10 and also added the plugins so I can try to enhance an old photograph. My question is, How come my program isnt looking like yours, Your has color and mine is all black and white.
I tried this heal selection tool but I get error message after I press OK "Calling error for procedure 'plug-in-resynthesizer': The texture source is empty. Does any selection include non-transparent pixels?"

Hi Michael. I have a problem. I am a Windows user. My shift key doesn't work with zoom. I tried shift + 2 but didn't work. What could be the problem? Do you have any idea?
Did I say to use shift with the zoom tool? I meant ctrl. The ctrl key will allow you to switch between zooming in and out of your image. You can also hold ctrl and use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
No you didn't say that. You're Gimp expert. I just wanted to ask you my problem. Go to view > zoom. There is a shortcut for 1:2 Shift +2. When I press Shift + 2 it doesn't work. Maybe it's a bug. Maybe my fault. Thanks.
I'm running GIMP 2.10.8 I downloaded this plugin, followed the instructions to a T and the plugin didn't work. I deleted it and tried putting it into its own folder in the plugin gimp folder and still nothing. I'm also running Windows 10

Thank you!
This should be included as default.
I agree!
Indeed, it's ridiculous that it currently isn't.
Make a pull request on the Gimp GitHub!
Lol...good luck. Open source developers are weird. They'll never add this by default. Same as they haven't added G'MIC by default yet.
@@Unmaleable They're not "weird", they just don't have resources to pay enough manpower to maintain various native plugins with each update.
I never knew it could be that easy. Another great video, Thank you Michael :)

dam GIMP has improved so much, remember that little 4X4 iwrap squares we have to deal with
Just a reminder that the resynthesizer works well when you let some space between the object you want to remove and the selection line
This tutorial is a lifesaver! Tanks.

It's under repair, inpaint patch based.
Awesome tutorial! How do we use the plugins for Mac?
Is there a keyboard shortcut for this? I'm using this to remove several lines from muscle diagrams.

Would this plug-in work with Gimp on Linux? I saw windows specific folders there?
Yes - most things GIMP related are designed for Linux first. The installation process is different, but usually it'll work for Linux if nothing else.
