I remember when I was studying psychology and neuroscience. One teacher taught us the reward system of our brain and the dopamine-endorphin thingy, and I asked my teacher why plants don't have a reward system, but my teacher then showed me a plant sitting in a soil-filled can and said, "What will happen if this plant is just locked inside this classroom and doesn't get sunlight and water?". From that moment instantly, I understood that even non-living things have this rewarding or reward system.

Plant is a living thing, though. That’s why it responds to water, light, and nutrients.

@@victoriaeruth you and I can have whatever meaning of reward system is. This place is a never-ending question answering. In terms of having soul, consciousness, pain perception, and spirit, plants are just not a living thing, but biologically speaking, it is a living thing. So, I can define a "LIVING THING" in those two ways.

@@xprinceduranteofficial9275 I think you mean non-conscious or something along those lines. No need to corrupt the definition of an existing word any further when a better word already exists

In most places I worked at, the motto was closer to "success is its own reward".

Currency can be represented in different ways. Everyone doesn't deserve a trophy, but perhaps a verbal or physical (maybe ask first and have them sign a contract in this world) pat on the back.

I realized that the secret to making a million is saving for a better investment. I always tell myself you don't need that new Maserati or that vacation just yet. That mindset helped me make more money investing. For example last year I invested 80k in stocks (with the help of my Financial Advisor of course) and made about 246k, but guess what? I put it all back and traded with her again and now I'm rounding up close to a million.

Investment is that tiny line that separates the RICH from the POOR. The foolish from wise sorry to say. I can proudly say I am wise today because I can provide for my family through my investments.

Obviously trading in bitcoin is very volatile and risky to trade that's the reason most traders trade with a expert .

The problem with extrinsic rewards/motivation is that its not just an addition to intrinsic motivation, but actually makes intrinsic motivation harder. I'd say a company should provide safe environment for its people, and then do everything it can to foster intrinsic motivation (good team relations, give purpose, take responsibility and autonomy etc.)

Someone noticed that when we reward children with gold stars, etc., there is an argument that if e.g. they were good at drawing, that they stopped doing what they previously did because they loved it unless there was a gold star on offer. IOW apply the same principle to kids, reward the continued effort not any particular result. [I think it was Jonathan Haidt in _The Righteous Mind._ ]

The problem with rewarding behavior is that someone actually has to see what you do, and we do not have many managers that see us.
90% of my supervisors (like the one that just quiet fired me this week) are too busy self-promoting to notice when I find and fix an issue before it becomes a problem for the org. They only notice the “bad” stuff, like when you point out when they have unwittingly insulted a co-worker, or that the manager damaged a process by “managing” it into an unsustainable path. Feedback that your boss disagrees with is bad, so we get punished and never rewarded.
After 30 years in this business I have to wonder how many psychopaths and narcissists I have helped get a title bump and raise to where they can do even more damage.
