- it's weird saying that I'm "sober". it's weird how I can go out and be constantly shoved drinks in my face and the bartender won't back off until I say that I'm "sober". it's weird how normal it is to use alcohol as a means to "loosen up". for a while, I didn't want to admit my giving up of this socially normalized activity because I felt like a prick and I didn't want my friends who do drink to think that I'm ever judging them- this was purely a personal choice because I saw how even just the slightest bit made me feel off.
I hope the realizations that I've made about my healing journey through sobriety help encourage a more normalized nondrinking culture. build that trust within yourself to know that you are enough without succumbing to social pressures.

I stopped drinking the past few weeks and notice a huge difference in my body and mindset. I realized its such a poison to your body.
"Before the Coffee Gets Cold" is so good! (a book you scanned) I appreciate your perspective on quitting alcohol. As a person much older than you, I still had "party hard" friends. I was afraid I'd lose them but knew I'd lose my own self if I couldn't or didn't stop drinking. Those fears were, thankfully, unfounded. And what I found, with or without their support, was peace. And that's incalcuable in it's worth. Proud of you.

Thanks for sharing your perspective! ♥️ I think drinking or choosing not to drink is a very personal decision. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer as long as you’re drinking responsibly. I actually expect/embrace the “junk food” cravings that come at the end of a night out... I’m also very food positive (and in eating disorder recovery) so having guilt around any food type is a no for me. I think anything we choose to put in our bodies is such a personal choice and no one should be judged for it. 💕

I don't drink. I don't like how it makes me feel. But my father (only parent) was an alcoholic and is 12 years sober. But that also left me not a fan of alcohol. When people offer a drink for whatever reason. They get almost offended ... I don't take but I don't care I don't drink and that's that. When I have to explain I've been told to get over it and have a drink. Or having a drink it's the right thing to do. When I spring up growing with an alcoholic the switch to sympathetic and understanding and that's just fucked up
