Scored two 30" monitors for $150 and one 23" for $50. The cheapest display for the highest quality, if you don't mind it consumes like 100W each and max refresh is 60hz, but for everyday use these are beautiful displays. Got another clear plastic 23" inch for $80, the one with ADC port and it also comes with the adc to dvi + power adapter. That adapter (brick) alone costs around $50 on ebay... Also, if you need wifi coverage, I recommend Apple Airport Extreme (the verrtical cube one) . Usually they goes around $35 to $40 but you can get it for $25 sometimes. And sometimes you can get the version with time capsule, I scored 1 Airport Extreme with 2TB time capsule for $40 and four airport extreme for $25 each. They doesn't need any configuration and they have mesh function. WiFi 5 AC is enough for most devices even 4k streaming. So basically I spent $140 to covered the whole house.
I didn’t know that usb c adapter could work with this display. I have the same Cinema Display and will now be using it for work. You saved me a lot of time, thanks for the video!
They're still sitting in my backseat but I picked up 2 of these at Goodwill for $20 apiece last night. Hoping the work but the ac adapters alone would make a profit on Ebay if I go that route.
I love this Display. I got two 20" and two 23". Still looking for the 30" to add to my collection. Only thing it misses .. no speakers. Apple really missed that one.
Hi! Thanks for posting this. Will the 23" Apple Cinema Display like the one shown in your video work with an M3 Max MacBook Pro using the same DVI to USB-C adapter? I've seen that the 30" Apple Cinema Display needs some extra peripherals to work properly with the M3 chips. Wasn't sure if that's because the 30" is Dual DVI, or it's the M3 chips themselves that require the additional adapters to function. Haven't seen anything in particular regarding the 23" not being able to work with the M3 chips, however. Thanks!
Great video, it is very informative. I was just given a 30 inch Cinema Display, but haven't tried it yet with my 2012 5,1 Mac Pro, I currently have my Mac Pro connected to my 43 inch 4K TV which also looks fantastic.
I have one. The brick power supply didnt work. But I searched online and discovered it was a bad cap. I bought a replacement, cracked the brick open, and replaced the cap. Lo and and behold, the display came on. Still going strong 5 yrs later. But I just bought a 27 inch Thunderbolt display for another computer for basically the same price these are now going for - around $150.
I managed to fine one for €15 with the adapter. Works and looks amazing with my Mac mini M1. I think this looks more modern than the Cinema Display LED and the Thunderbolt Display.
The older acrylic Cinemqa Displays did have an adapter avaiable which allowed it to connect to a DVI port, or other posrt through the use of another adapter.
Great video, thank you. I just picked up 2 of these today for a Mac mini M2. Is it possible to use them both in a dual screen set-up? Would I have to use thunderbolt and HDMI?
i honestly wonder if i got this monitor and hooked it up to my av360 adapter would i be able to use this as my gaming monitor 🤔 couldn’t find to many videos on that currently using a late 09 apple imac with this method and its been my main gaming/ monitor forever
I really like the colors this monitor can produce, and the "screen" temperature is on te warm site. I like that. It's still a good monitor. (2005 model only! Don't buy the 2004 model!) Beware -> the power adapter is not the best!
how can i connect two 20" apple cinema displays to my 2019 macbook and be able to charge my laptop etc. I purchased the adapter you suggested and it works amazing, but I cannot plug my laptop in and use both displays at the same time. I've tried a j5create type usb c dual mini dock, but it will not work. Please help!!!
After watching another video of yours, I asked for one that was going unused at work and found a dongle. I thought it was the 30 because it's so big, but it was this one. It has a nice image for sure. Unfortunately, it has the yellow tint issue and my mid-2012 can't run two monitors simultaneously. So until I get a new laptop and have the tint fixed, it's on hiatus. Edit: Discovered j5create dongle on Amazon to allow dual screen. Still could not find anyone in a large city to fix the yellow screen :( I really am looking forward to putting it to use and maybe even get a 2nd one to let my 21.5 HP go.
I have a problem. While I have a Silicon M1 Mac Mini connected to my 2014 Sony Bravia & it works fine and I have older Imacs, my 2006 Mac Mini that I had connected to my 17 inch Apple Cinema Display cannot be used now because my Cinema Display DIED last Saturday. I shut down the Mac Mini & when I turned it on again the monitor was completely dead. So I am asking you if I can get a 22 inch Cinema Display and use it with my 2006 Mac Mini and what adapter do I need ? I play older Mac games like Diablo 2 on the Mac mini & it helps me when I cannot sleep and I already miss it a lot. Subscribed.
nice! what is the color accuracy of the cinema displays? I am thinking of doing a similar set up like yours, but a 27" 4K display to do my video & photo editing & the cinema ones to use for scopes or just arrange the media folders. I want to have plenty of real state for either my timeline (davinci), or canvas for PS/LR...

Which capacitor did you have to replace? Do you have a link to that?

Nice thought but the Cinema Display LED and the Tunderbolt Display have one advantage. The both have decent speakers included.
@ms1595 I’d even say great speakers, compared to any other monitors.
Great video.I had one since 2008 and now have bought a new Mac Mini with Dell display. This means I can use both ! Big Thank You !!
I got the 30 inch for $50…ITS SOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!! 😮
Does it still hold up to modern 1080p monitors?
@@TheReal_Enclave Yes, the 2k-res 30 inch is mostly better except in extremely bright rooms.
@@vanCaldenborghi wish the cinema display was 27 inch 😫 30inch is a weird number 😢 and slightly too big for me lol

I see them pop up on Marketplace every now and then. This one took a little long to mail down the seller, but we eventually made the deal happen.
I got a 30 inch today for 120 dollars with all cables needed. Have a 27 inch apple monitor now but will try this old 30 inch
I am really loving the old Apple tech. I may get this on eBay to use with my 2015 Mac Mini
These Apple displays have always been my favorite displays. Maybe not the best for gaming, but when there’s real work to be done, they are the best!
@@FamilyGeekery because I'm not a gamer, this will work wonders for my retro (yet very productive) setup

Any of the Cinema Displays after 2004 should have a DVI cable, which will match your 2006 Mac mini. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Thank you!!!
I love my 24-inch Cinema Display.
Me too!
Still got two 20s (and one 30 sadly that one is pixel damaged), but the 20s are still working great as my left and right with a 32 LG in between.

my 30 inch gets too hot now, i actually sweat if i don’t shut it off occasionally…still works tho
I had a few 30in monitors. Beautiful screens, but a bit “chonky” for today’s standard, lol
Good info on the difference in connecting a 30” vs. your 23”!
