Woodturning - Outside Solar Light

- What started out as an idea to make a small garden light ended up being a full lamp post. Apart from the top all the other wood was just off cuts left over from a roofing job.
Top is made from Sycamore, finished with a Wax oil.

Very ingenuitive! It didn't take me long to figure out you were creating a lamp. But seeing all the pieces you were creating made me wonder what type of lamp you were actually creating. And then you made it solar. Genius! Outstanding work. First time to see any such creation from a wood turning channel.
Thanks Les 👍
That was an amazing project from start to finish. I love the finished project. Great job, as usual.

عجيبة 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
How original! How will you keep it from being blown over in high winds? Did you weight the foot and not show it? Thanks.
That's just a temporary foot, final location for it yet to be decided, it's back inside safe out the wind for now, might use a metal thread in the base and use that cast into concrete 👍
I like its
Thanks
You should get the bowl jig so you don't waste so much wood
good🤩🤩🤩
👍
You should buy an 8" forstner bit...
Might stall the lathe with that 😁
@@MattJordanWoodturning 🤣🤣
Are you getting closer to the skull mug?
Should be a couple of mugs coming soon 👍
Класс, мне нравится

Amazing job!!! I love it!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very nice....
Thanks
Wish my votech class had a wood-turning machine.
👍👍
I love your channel because I find it very calming. I also have a question. I see you don’t wear gloves when you’re carving. I know you’re a Master. But I wonder… have you ever injured your hands?
Thanks, I avoid wearing gloves around and rotating machinery, risk of a catch out ways any injury to your hand without a glove.
@@MattJordanWoodturning thank you for the response. It made me wonder. I get a splinter by just looking at a piece of wood. 😳😂
Awesome art work, this light makes your artwork glows everywhere in the world

Oo We getting Fancy with it now I see 😇

I like the router jig 👍🏻 I assume thats home made. As for the lamp...well, its spectacular!! 🥇
👍👍
Wow, that is cool. Awesome project.
Creative. I think you may regret not giving it a wider base to sit on. Too tall and top heavy. Your very talented though. I enjoy your vids. Thanks
That light pole turned out nice. Your gonna cry when it goes missing and if you leave it out it will get stolen. Very nice video and work Sir.
I am in awe, absolute awe. How long did this take you? And what was the black stuff that you poured into the electrical part?
Prettyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I’m amazed how you thought this up and executed the production of this awesome lamp!

9 1/2 minutes in and still no idea what you’re making! Amazing piece
That took some working out, the finish is magic
Wow! What a cool idea to make a street lamp. I love the final outcome
Thanks 👊
Woahh that's awesome 👍👍👍😎
With out a doubt that is the best I've seen, great job
It always looks amazing
Thank you Matt!
Usually, as you work, I try to figure out where you're going before you there. I certainly never saw This coming! 🤩 Amazing and beautiful!🌟👍
I recently watched a man in the UK making wood bricks (for stoves & fireplaces) out of wood shavings and sawdust. It made me wonder what you do with yours ... 😉
Blessings! 💜
Thanks Trish, I used to recycle mine, either at the local waste or spread around the garden, great way to keep weeds down and they breakdown into good fertiliser. However with the price of energy going up I've invested in a log burner, and I'm now making bricks from shredded paper and wood waste 😁
@@MattJordanWoodturning Good on ya!👍 I don't have nearly what you do but I mixed with the shavings I get for the chickens and some old candles to make fire starters. That was fun!
nicely done, Sir.
Very nice lamp
LOVE IT!!! ❤❤❤❤

Awesome!

Wow
Did you just use the spindle lock to determine width or measure for the lines from the router?
There is an indexing system built into the lathe that can lock in various pre set positions.
That was incredible 👌 I’m subbing 👍
Thanks
The clean up alone would dissuade me from wanting to do something like that.
Investment in a good hoover is a must 😉
what metal did you use for the casting?
Pewter
very very beautiful!!!!
Thank you
Вот это заморочился☝️👍❕❕❕
