I recently purchased a Belkin USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) Gigabit Ethernet adapter for my mid-2015 MacBook Pro which is not compatible with a USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 adapter. This model of MacBook Pro requires a Thunderbolt 2 Gigabit Ethernet adapter instead. Simply telling others to buy an ethernet to USB-C adapter for their MacBook Pro is doing a disservice for those who may end up wasting money buying the wrong adapter.

Thats one way I suppose. You could also. Get a ethrenet to usb-c then. Could plug your type c. But it is very very handy to have a lot of those C-A and A-Cs :D

Just a tip make sure your usb-a is usb 4 and your usb-c is thunderbolt.
Is there USB-A with USB4? It has only one lane where USB-C has two (that's why USB3 Gen 2x2 requires C not A). So if your USB4 computer has USB-A ports, I assume they are giving you USB3 Gen 1 or 2 with 5 or 10 Gbit/s max, whereas USB4 might give up to 40Gbit/s.
(USB4 is a mess, by the way, a bunch of features are optional, the controller doesn't even have to be compatible to USB3Gen2x2 or Thunderbolt3 devices, transfer speed might be limited to 10Gbit/s instead. And USB4 got advertised as ending all the confusion...)

I dont think so. If you actually to manage do that it would be awesome. But you need two usb a and usb c convertors to try this.

A lot of times a wired connection is significantly slower than WiFi now unfortunately. I was very disappointed to find this out but still cool that it works

It would make more sense to share a smartphones connection by tethering to it using a USB-C to Ethernet adaptor.

This will not work. The usb c is designed for charging your mobile and transferring files from or to the pc with the mobile phone software on it.
The phone is designed to use WiFi. Not necessarily usb ethernet compatibility.
This is unheard of. The mobile receives WiFi then can be connected to your pc to use as ethernet connection so that your pc can use your mobile as a local hotspot

Your semi correct your phone does not have the drivers to use ethernet but usb-c if its the latest version can transfer bassicly any type of data u can imagine. Like hell u can plug in a desktop gpu to ur laptop.

@@lilchicken6986 I wasn't trying to "look smart" I was just genuinely curious as to why I would use this method over the more simple option. I don't know a lot of people who have both a ethernet to Usb-A and a Usb-a to Usb-c adapter just laying around, myself included. I usually buy these kind of adapters for specific purposes, so they're generally in constant use.
Not sure why you would want to do this. If I look I bet I'll find one at gwo.
@@caltick I don't really want to do it personally. I could see why someone would if they have poor wifi connection on their phone I guess. My point was moreso that you can achieve the same effect without daisy-chaining adapters for cheap.
