@@dubjay1981 yes you can but it will probably only work if you have an audio interface connected to the computer. Route the record player into the audio interface and select that same input as the sample from input inside of MPC BEATS.

At some point I would love an MPC LIVE as I understand it has inbuilt phono amp with grounding connection.....one step at a time though😎😎
@@dubjay1981 all of the MPCs have a built in input for record payers both grounded and ungrounded. If the dj mixer you are referring to connects to the computer via USB then the software should be able to detect it and use the inputs. I am not 100% sure on that though. Just speculating. I did have a MIXLAB dj controller at one time and COULD sample from that so it should work.
So I'm coming straight as a beginner. Bought the MPK mk3 and just started messing with it. Your walkthrough really had everything I needed to get started. Thanks man! much appreciated!
Thank you for this tutorial. I was following along to the sequence part and every time I mute notes in the Intro, it would always mute the notes in the Drop too. How can I fix this? thank you
I apologize. I didn't explain that properly and tried to add text to help during that portion. It starts at 30:05. Use use the CHANNEL MIXER to mute out that tracks or sound you don't want to play in each sequence. Doing it that way it will do it per sequence and not per the entire song. Hope that helps.
Hi there thank you for your great Video. I am also new to MPC Beats. Could you please explain what do you mean by once it hears the signal? I am trying to do sampling and I didn't understand that part.is there a button you need to press for it to hear the signal?
You have to set your sample from input. If the input is set correctly when you arm the recording it will start as soon as it detects a loud enough signal. (Note: The sample input will be different from device to device depending on your sound card of choice AND the way you have the audio routed. Your sample input settings will probably be different than mine.)
Great tutorial. I have a question about creating samples: As I understood it, you played the sound of a program in the video. This sound was captured through your microphone and recoded, so to speak, for the sound of the sample, right? If I run a sample over the speakers via MPC beats and want to record it, nothing happens, why is that? Can you help me?
The sound was not recorded through a microphone. It was recorded through my audio interface. The reason I said your setup and input sources could be different from mine is because there are many different audio interfaces along with many different ways to set it up. In this tutorial I was using a Scarlett 18i8 Gen 3 which has 4 physical inputs. Inputs 1/2 are my microphones and inputs 3/4 were used as sample inputs from whatever source you connect. You just have to set your inputs in the sampler accordingly. There is no way to give a definitive answer unless you have the exact same setup as me.
Not exactly sure how to answer the question. I’m thinking you are referring to where I got the sample from but if it is “recording the sample” it was recorded into MPC BEATS using the built in Sampler. As far as where it came from as I said in the video it will vary depending on your current setup. If you are a complete beginner you could possibly only be using a laptop or desktop computer with nothing else. In that case you will be reduced solely to the capabilities of the computer. If you have a beginner audio interface like a Scarlett Solo you will have two inputs to sample from which will be inputs 1/2 for stereo or 1 and 2 for mono. In contrast I have a Scarlett 18i20 pair with a Clarett+ Octopre which gives me up to 36 inputs to potentially sample from. Your sample inputs will depend on IF you have an audio interface or not AND how you have it set up or routed. Lastly the way my audio interface is setup inputs 3/4 will be ANY SOUND FROM OR PASSING THROUGH THE COMPUTER. If I was to single something out for example I can sample from input 5/6 which is my turntable or record player and input 1 and 2 are my microphones.
great tutorial!!! so helpful. one thing i'm having trouble with tho, initially when i enabled mapping it mapped fine, but since then the pads are greyed out in the enable panel but i'm still getting sounds out of them. any thoughts??
I’m just now seeing this comment but as long as everything is working properly I wouldn’t worry. The settings usually recall themselves after you set it.
Yes. Each sequence will become a different section of the beat. Intro, Drop, Hook, Verse, Break, Bridge, End… whatever it is you might want or need. Some songs are just a loop. Most are not.
@@JerimiahRhea it is not free. It is $200 and if you need more information I have a video detailing all of the differences in the software here: What is the difference between MPC Beats and the Full MPC 2 Software? ruclips.net/video/k54STHDur0g/видео.html
I too agree with the comment tony Roseman said. Thank you for this video tutorial it has helped me a lot. U mention in this video that you are waiting to get the MPK mini 3, did u get it.? If so, do you have a video like this one using the MPK mini 3. I'd like to watch it. I will subscribe to your channel after watching this video.✌️
I did get the MPK Mini 3 and have used it in many videos. Not a full walk through like this one though. It works nearly the same. Just has better buttons and knobs. I am currently using the MPK Mini Plus but I have a bunch of keyboards and all of the current MPC's.
Great video...how do i find the F9 instruments in MPC Beats. did i do something wrong intalling it? its only showing different expansion packs but not the F9...
You probably did not download and install it. If you got MPC Beats with a MPK Mini 3 then it is optional in the installer. If you got MPC Beats by itself then the rest of the sounds will be available to download from your Akai account.
@@GhettoStyles thanks for your quick response. i actually bought the mpk mini 2 a year ago and as you said downloaded the MPC Beats by itself...cannot find the F9 Instruments to download on my AKAI Account page tho. Does it only come with the Mini3? Or maybe download it again and then it'll work...
Hi im completely new to music. One thing i am wondering, when i hit each pad, it doesnt highlight which sample is being played like yours does. How do i get it to do that? thanks!
anyone have a problem with getting their Mpk mini 3 to work? I downloaded the software it came with but whenever I try opening a new file to try and make a beat, it makes no sound at all. Am I supposed to have any additional software downloaded? samples produce no sound either. any tips?
First you came to the right place. Secondly if you download all of the files in the installer you should have enough sound to make a good start. Next inside the software as shown in this video YOU MUST HAVE THE MPK MINI 3 ENABLED (Not yelling just highlighting) AND in the PREFERENCES menu you also have to go to the MIDI/SYNC tab and select CONTROL and TRACK for the MPK MINI 3 and also MASTER if it is your only keyboard 🎹.
Greetings mi brother, great video, I am new to the mpc i have the mpc one, and a Mac, I am trying to use 3rd plugins a nova EQ, when I downloaded it I can’t find it in the mpc plugins vst. Please can you help I notice that you are using a Mac with your mpc. I would be greatful for the help, keep on making great videos my brother. One love Errol from England.
In most cases you will have to go to “preferences, plug-ins, and rescan plugins”. If that doesn’t work it might be a VST3 plugin which is not supported but you can open it if it has an AU version.
It’s is mostly the same but the MPC Beats version is limited to 8 MIDI tracks and two audio tracks and does not include the Drum Synth. The Full MPC software is only limited by how many tracks your computer can handle.
@@GhettoStyles ok so akai came out with a free program that will try to bring in new users? Basically like "Essentials" of other brands? I got the mpcX and the full software. Does buying the recent equipment not give a person acess to the full software?
@@bsharpmusic the MPC Mini MK3 is the only device that comes with MPC Beats. All MPCs come with the full version. And yes it is basically an essentials version.

@@bsharpmusic you have the MPC X then you don’t need it. You already have the full software. You might want 2.9.1 if you don’t have it possibly. It adds the drum synth and bug fixes.

(Note: The sample input will be different from device to device depending on your sound card of choice AND the way you have the audio routed. Your sample input settings will probably be different than mine.)
@@GhettoStyles wow thank you for just a fast reply you are the best. I'll try and figure it out thank you so much.

Hey, could you do a video on how to set up the maschine mk3 with mpc beats?
traci wilson I will see what I can do. Sounds like a good idea. Thanks!
This is what I'm looking for as well
I did it. Here is the link ruclips.net/video/Sofm9NpGRRk/видео.html you’re welcome 😊
Great tutorial.
I have a question about creating samples:
As I understood it, you played the sound of a program in the video.

Thank you for your video. It helped me a lot. But I have one question about the sampling.chapter Which program do you use for recording your sample?
Do u got videos on how to use it with the MPD218?
@@YBSonDaBeat no. I do not have a 218 but most of it will be the same outside of the setup.
great tutorial!!! so helpful. one thing i'm having trouble with tho, initially when i
enabled mapping it mapped fine, but since then the pads are greyed out in the enable panel but i'm still getting sounds out of them. any thoughts??
I’m just now seeing this comment but as long as everything is working properly I wouldn’t worry. The settings usually recall themselves after you set it.
Nice thank you so one question though.. I just keep copying until I have as many sequences as I need?
Yes. Each sequence will become a different section of the beat. Intro, Drop, Hook, Verse, Break, Bridge, End… whatever it is you might want or need. Some songs are just a loop. Most are not.
@@GhettoStyles heard.
Does anyone know if the upgrade to mpc2 is free? Wasn't sure so I chose remind me later
@@JerimiahRhea it is not free. It is $200 and if you need more information I have a video detailing all of the differences in the software here:
What is the difference between MPC Beats and the Full MPC 2 Software?

How did you rename the track? When I hover over it, I see a box with track 1,2, that I’m using, and three which says (unused).
I saw you got it!
Or maybe download it again and then it'll work...
ok found it. just never downloaded it from the email. cheers! have a good day
@@michaelfay1021 glad I could help out.
What if you don't have the MPC Beat set available? I just have a welcome to MPC Beats?
There is a menu at the bottom right of the screen to pull it up.
Hi im completely new to music. One thing i am wondering, when i hit each pad, it doesnt highlight which sample is being played like yours does. How do i get it to do that? thanks!
You must have the MPK Mini ENABLED and selected as a CONTROL in the following menu: MPC BEATS>Preferences>MIDI/SYNC
anyone have a problem with getting their Mpk mini 3 to work?
🔥🔥🔥💪🏾
Thanks!
Great video. But my question is whats the difference between mpc beats and the mpc software? Looks the same
It’s is mostly the same but the MPC Beats version is limited to 8 MIDI tracks and two audio tracks and does not include the Drum Synth.
@@GhettoStyles ok cool. I dont have to download it. I just recently logged on to the akai website to update the "X" and seen something new which I was a lil confused about. Thanks for the clarification. Again, Great video tho!
@@bsharpmusic you have the MPC X then you don’t need it. You already have the full software. You might want 2.9.1 if you don’t have it possibly. It adds the drum synth and bug fixes.
