Thank you for doing this because I love fantastic voyage volume 2 (one 10/10 album of all time) I always felt like if we never lost Jay Dee Slum Village and a lot of other Soulquarians artists would’ve gotten more recognition then they were getting.
As usual, great video!!! Do Onyx, Bro’. Please. They came out SMOKIN’ HOT with “Throw Ya Gunz” and “Slam”. When The Hype began to die down, they dropped the Rock-Infused “Judgment Night” (Which attracted Metal Heads to their music) went on tour and performed with a Rock band. Their Sophomore Studio Album included the depressingly descriptive “Last Day’s” and the Young Adult Us-Versus-Everybody Anthem “All We Got Is Us”. Then, they slowly DISAPPEARED off the Hip Hop Radar… Can you investigate, decipher and explain what happened?!🙏🏽🕵🏼♂️💯
Can you please do "The Demise of Horror Core Rap" Artist such as Flatlinerz, Gravediggaz, Esham, Insane Clown Posse, Broths Lynch Hung, Necro, Ill Bill, Dark Lotus etc. I think this episode is definitely needed.
I kinda agree with the end of the video. The only artist in the group that was outstanding lyrically was Elzhi. But Baatin and T3 sounded so good over Dilla’s beats that it made them sound like hip hop gods.
I think the fact that Vol 1 wasn't officially released (didn't know that) should've been a stunt because that's a classic!!...better than Vol 2...best Slum album in my book. ✌🏾🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
With all do respect as a HUGE SV fan since 2002, Fantastic Vol. 2 is the greater album by several miles. Vol.1 is super dope but its raw as it was intended to be. Vol.2 is refined
Both volumes were classics to me. I can play them as a double disc and not favor one over the other but vol2 was my introduction to the crew. Loved them ever since.
Their highest selling album was actually “Detroit Deli” which had the Kanye Produced track “Selfish” not the album “Trinity (Past, Present, Future). I’m sure it’s already been addressed but I couldn’t let that shit go 😂.
Love your channel(s) bro...but Slum Village can't be guaged by sales. If you kno you know. They were a WHOLE movement. It's why Hip Hop is never understood properly when it's judged by sales. Slum Village was a whole sound/vibe. The first and 2nd iteration of SV will always be Hip Hop royalty. Respect - salute
Dilla is one of those once in a lifetime creators who people talk about so much, a casual would easily think he's overrated, until you realize that even as a fan of his, he has such a massive collection of beats, that you're bound to be struck by something.
Slum will always be up there as one of my favourite groups. They have a very unique style that separates them from most. I actually think Trinity is their best album. Elzhi is an incredible emcee and for 2002 that album was ahead of its time. Dilla’s departure hurt on a production side but Elzhi joining elevated the group lyrically. After Elzhi left the group it all fell flat. Slum village are nothing special now but in the early 2000s they were the most slept on group in my opinion
I appreciate the video. But Ima need u to PLS get the facts straight. Selfish wad NOT om thr Trinity album. Yes, it is their most successful album. But Tainted was the lead single.
*This one here is a heat rock* *Spit like a beat box* *The way the beat rocks* *New version of Pete Rock* Never ceases to get my head nodding unconsciously.
Real talk. Fantastic vol 2 is THE greatest hip hop album of all time. No fucking doubt. Who gives a fuck about charts and hits? Slum village was for hip hop heads. Rip dilla rip baatin
Love this channel. Camp lo
Thank you.
Selfish wasn’t on that album. It was on Detroit Deli
Thank u. I came here to say that exact same thing. 👍🏽
He be rushing through it
Exactly…
My hometown heroes. Great video.
RIP Jay Dee, RIP Baatan.
Legends and big inspiration in my eyes ❤️. RIP to both🙏🙏underrated lyricists too💯
Put respect on my man Elzhi’s name. Slum Village was extremely special. Can’t imagine hip hop without their contribution.
FACTO
I still listen to they’re music
One of my favorites out of Detroit..RIP Dilla & Baatin..beats was so unique, definitely a new sound for that time
Thanks for this, I've became a fan of slum village last year and I've been researching them but their history is hard to navigate and research
These videos need to be appreciated. This is art in the form of documentary within 15. That is not easy.
Thank you for doing this because I love fantastic voyage volume 2 (one 10/10 album of all time) I always felt like if we never lost Jay Dee Slum Village and a lot of other Soulquarians artists would’ve gotten more recognition then they were getting.

I've said this to many people who disagree. I never thought batiin or t3 were good rappers...but they had good voices.
Can you do Stunted Growth on The DOC?
I thought you made a video on them already, 🤔. Either way, I'm here for it
I think the fact that Vol 1 wasn't officially released (didn't know that) should've been a stunt because that's a classic!!...better than Vol 2...best Slum album in my book. ✌🏾🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤

@@bobbydrza i agree vol. 2 is one of the best albums to me …
Its Fantastic!
@@bobbydrzano disrespect but some of the beats on vol2 are boring. The original beats on vol 1 where way better. 2.1 is better than 2.0 too (imo)
Both volumes were classics to me. I can play them as a double disc and not favor one over the other but vol2 was my introduction to the crew. Loved them ever since.
First salute from london ❤

Their highest selling album was actually “Detroit Deli” which had the Kanye Produced track “Selfish” not the album “Trinity (Past, Present, Future). I’m sure it’s already been addressed but I couldn’t let that shit go 😂.
Really appreciate this video.
LEGENDARY CREW.
My life on hiphop is nothing without SV.. ppl are slowly seeing them now tho.. which is nice

It’s crazy because #3 furthers my thought that Phonte was in the group and Sadat X as well….. Am I tripping?
Elzhi is dope af.
Love your stuff
Slum village was dope.
Slum will always be up there as one of my favourite groups. They have a very unique style that separates them from most. I actually think Trinity is their best album. Elzhi is an incredible emcee and for 2002 that album was ahead of its time.

Detroit Deli!!!! S/O to my bro T-3
Dilla Lives, Forever.
Slum village are still the best hip hop band way ahead of the game... Granted J Dilla is a god. Fantastic volume 2......best hip hop album ever....
I appreciate the video. But Ima need u to PLS get the facts straight. Selfish wad NOT om thr Trinity album. Yes, it is their most successful album. But Tainted was the lead single.
Damn I missed these brothas
“A failed Tribe Called Quest” whose this dude? SV are GOATS!
What's a timeless Slum Village record you still play today?
"Go Ladies!" Thanks for my request. I appreciate that J.
Raise It Up, Playerz and One are the best Slum Village songs. Rest in power to the 🐐 J Dilla and the illustrious Baatin.
Get Dis Money, Fall In Love, We Be Dem, The Look Of Love, Climax, I could keep going but those are just some of the songs I play still until this day.
Selfish
Do one on skee-lo
Nah bro. Dilla was the best when he was alive
Yo, you gotta do Dwele since he was a slum village affiliate. Dude hasn’t released music since 2012. SMH.

Thank u
S/O to all of us who thought Dilla was an all-time great while he was still alive........
Kind of like a Main Source situation. The talented one blew up solo. There's your next vid.
y'all gotta put more respect on Elzhi name
Busta Rhymes and Common already had major success at that point it was the other way around
Do VanN Demand
Do Big Sean
Detroit always keeps toilet tissue stuck to it's shoe. Og°
Gave us one of the greatest songs and verses from a baby Kanye!
*This one here is a heat rock*
*Spit like a beat box*
*The way the beat rocks*
*New version of Pete Rock*
Never ceases to get my head nodding unconsciously.
What do you mean alternative hip hop? It’s just hip hop
Strictly disagree with that opinion about them being like a tribe called quest Dilla was like the Q-tip of the group and they are special.
Slum village
They were cool yet people only cared for them cause of J-Dilla.
bit of misinformation on this video , is what it is but the new music has been dope for awhile now tons of new fans maybe it was meant to be this way.
I gotta disagree. Elzhi is not an average rapper. That Elmatic was ill!!
Slim Thug
Two words: RJ Rice.
Do Funk Volume
They stole their name from slum Brothers, and admitted it in australia
Nothing Special? This dude……
Afu-ra
Tru life
