Not sure if I can insert questions for your everything you love episodes, but here goes.... I was wondering what it was like getting on Farmclub.com tv show way back in 2000. Was that what got you guys signed to Roadrunner Records? Also what was the feeling/emotions with you and your band mates at the time before you got on stage? If I’m not mistaken some of the members were different people before Pass Out Of Existence was released. That was my first experience hearing Chimaira (Dead Inside) had me hook lined and sinker for a life long fan. Thanks for reading and providing a amazing catalogue of epic bangers that I still religiously listen to today! Chimaira should have been as big and bigger than Lamb of God. Self titled and Resurrection were just amazing albums.. do a video together playing Resurrection!! That would be epic
Completely agree, and funny you say that. First time I saw Chimaira was in spring 2003, in Toronto. They were co-headlining with LoG, and myself, my bro, and our best friend had never got into LoG yet, so we left after Chimaira's set. Chimaira deserves the most credit for revitalizing American metal, but LoG just appealed more to the mainstream I guess. There's no comparison to me.
G Bizzzle it’s sort of ironic that Lamb of God got more attention seeing as how Chimaira had way more melody in their songs. LoG only recently started doing clean vocals.
Matt was always the guy who would chill in the front lounge with us. We’d drink and talk for hours about sports, current events, and partying. Truly one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. 🤘

Talking about Ill Nino - I bought their 'Confession' record & Chimaira's 'The Impossibility of Reason' on the same day at the same store, way back when :D Now that's a day to remember fondly!
The Chimaira reunion show was the most special concert I've ever been to. Flew in from Dallas and got the signed poster framed in my living room! It's great to hear it was a special night for you too.
I miss gigging, I've been in 5 bands as a drummer but play guitar too, the bands didn't last long, my previous band, which was the best one, lasted 3 years. You 2 and Andols were the guys that got me into the band but I loved Mark's voice too
This was so cool to see! Cool to hear about Matt's post Chimaira sutff. I was actually at the Philly show on the Lamb of God/Killswitch co headline tour where Matt filled in for Lamb of God! Still one of the best shows I ever went to, I remember being blown away by Testament first hand who were second of four that night. Always loved Matt's riffs and energy. Would love to see another conversation, maybe with Mark and Andols as well, about the Roadrunner United project. I remember watching Matt riff Constitution Down with Joey Jordison and Steve DiGiorgio among others in that DVD and being blown away!

Rob - I was always curious, why weren’t you on RR United while a lot of your fellow Chimaira band members were (Mark, Andols, and Matt). With your amazing song writing skills, I wish Roadrunner would have made you one of the main song writers on that album like Heafy, Dino, Jordison, and Flynn. Maybe something you can talk about in a future Everything You Love episode.

Thank you Rob. I first saw you guys in 2006 with KSE and dragonforce at sunset station in San Antonio, Texas. Then winter of 2007 at what was the white rabbit in San Antonio. I met everyone at the rabbit. I recall Jim saying the same thing to me both times I met him. I cannot tell you how much pure joy I felt seeing you two together on this. I love ill nino too dope shoutout. Thank you for the joy that almost nothing in life brings. Music is special and halls music does and will always mean the world to me. Thanks for being so cool to a 12 year old me when we met. It was way passed my bed time but my brother knew I loved you guys and All that remains. I wouldn’t trade anything for that night. I loved being the fly on the wall as you guys are talking. Matt has always been so fun to watch in the documentaries and seems so humble and friendly. One of my favorite photos is you and Matt on stage in mid-air jump with your seven string guitars (non-sigs and you both had short hair). Speaking of...I never thought we'd see him with short hair again - he was the last one haha. As your conversation went on, I was stoked to find out this is an hour long video! What I really enjoy is that all three of us have birthdays in January and what's crazy is Matt's is the 28th and mine is the 29th pretty cool in my book.
27:30 The Astoria!!! Yes. London December 2005. Good show! I remember Mark Hunter saying "Stick a fork in us London, we're done!" whilst sat on the drum riser at one point. So I think the band was tired but you put on a hell of a show. Last time I saw you guys. Sadly, the Astoria is no longer there as it was demolished in 2009. It was a pivital venue for London. Rob.......... I almost held back my tears all the video......... When I started to play guitar, you and Matt were a huge influence on me. I had a very diverse taste even then, I listened to a lot of different metal music, but Chimaira seemed to me something extraordinary, something completely original. And, of course, your guitar parts with Matt and Jason were some of the first guitar lines I learned. You and Matt are one of the best guitar duos in all of the history of not only metal, but rock music in general. You are a reference example of a tandem of guitarists, correct in every sense. I really hope that you will play with him again, and you will create something together! P.S. Rob, I have always respected you very much for your dedication to the Superstrat-shape, since this bodyshape has always been my favorite, and everyone around went crazy with V's and traditional singlecut Les Paul-style shapes, which I didn't like at all. P.P.S. Your signature M's and Matt's signature Vipers are real masterpieces, some of the best guitars ever made by ESP.

Thanks man! Was my biggest complaint about Vipers and SGs alike. Simple fix... carefully and I mean caaaarefully drill a new strap pin on the top horn. It’s a tricky thing since it’s so thin and pointy though. Don’t snap the wood. I would do that mod to all my Vipers so that the head didn’t drop on it’s own.
How cool you responded here! Matt I love that guitar to death, I live in Sweden and those are almost impossible to get here but I got mine from a guy that bought it overseas, I overpaid by a lot but I did not give a sh!t. Well here is the deal, I use Dunlop strap locks and I use the "flush" model that you actually drill into the body ( check google ) and as you might know the part on the strap from Dunlop is pretty big in diameter and not sure it would work good on the horn. Anyhow my thought was that since the "flush" thing you drill into the body is about 10 millimeters in diameter I thought of drilling the hole above the small one in the edge of the back so I counter weight it so to speak. But since I love that guitar and to my knowledge they are discontinued I might keep it as it it. Here is a picture of it: prntscr.com/tbetrh

Graspop 2007, yes I was there! My only Chimaira festival show. Btw I remember wanting to go to the Eastpak Antidote 2007 tour with Soilwork, Chimaira, Dark Tranquillity, and then Chimaira unexpectedly dropped off and got replaced with Caliban. Bugger!! I still went though, Soilwork and Dark Tranquillity were awesome (they where touring in support of 'Sworn to a great divide' and 'Fiction' ! Opening band Sonic Syndicate was pretty cool too actually!

One of the best compliments I've ever been given was from Matt DeVries: "Man, that was fast" right after I shotgunned a beer on the Chimaira motor-home when you guys played New Orleans in '02. I was 18 years old at the time, and I still remember that show very fondly. Oh, and not to leave you out either, Rob - Another one of my more fond memories of going to a show was going to see Chimaira and 3 Inches of Blood a few years later, and I had gone to the Chimaira Christmas a few months prior when you guys played Nothing Remains for the 1st time (Iron Sheik), and I was wearing my Chimaira Christmas shirt, drinking beer with Jamie Hooper when you and Mark got out of a car and you pointed at me and said "You went to that show?! Awesome!" It's the little things in life, you know?
I was fortunate to get to know you guys over 20 years ago and see you play some great shows. Proud of what you guys were able to achieve that some of us didn’t get to that level being from Ohio. I miss you guys and glad you are all doing well.

So nice to see that Matt is doing ok and that he is working and also trying to keep his music life line going with 93. One of the first things that came to my mind and I'm not just saying this cause you was wearing an Elite shirt. But If only Matt was still living in Cleveland, how awesome it would be if you both was in The Elite together and I'm sure that there might be others that may just read this might just be thinking the same as me. The other thing that I noticed that I could see in both of your eyes that the spark for Chimaira is still there and you never know in this world today, that's after the virus does one. Great show man. Cool to hear you guys revisit the glory days. Fan since seeing the farmclub.com show when I was a kid. Impossibility was the most important album to fix the metal slump coming out of the nu metal era. You guys made guitar solos and double bass cool again.
Chimaira was my fav band when I got back into metal music in 2005 after at least 9 years hiatus. When I was walking with my dog I was listening to ressurection and the infection that was in my beloved town Minsk Mazowiecki then I was forced to move in England:(. I am 40yo old fart now, the time is mercyless but Chimaira is immortal!!!
Was meant to see you guys in 07/08 supporting Lamb of God/Machine Head. Viral Infection screwed it. Glad to see you guys are doing well!!! Dude! Rob, watching this video, made me feel like I was in the band (for all those memories you guys shared)!! Hell, I know I miss playing in my band. The chemistry between you two is untouchable! Like others on here, you two influenced me to play guitar and I'll never forget hanging out with you guys twice in Bend, Oregon (along with other cities I been to watch chimaira). The first time was just you two outback, the second show was canceled because of soundboard issues, so you guys, Kataklysm, and I think Divine Heresy were nice enough to give us all a meet and greet!! Lastly man, I just want to say fuck you Co-Vid19, firstly, claiming thousands and thousands of lives, and secondly delaying the possible get together you mentioned to maybe spark another reunion or possibly bringing the band back!! This was so cool to see! Cool to hear about Matt's post Chimaira sutff. I was actually at the Philly show on the Lamb of God/Killswitch co headline tour where Matt filled in for Lamb of God! Still one of the best shows I ever went to, I remember being blown away by Testament first hand who were second of four that night. Always loved Matt's riffs and energy. Would love to see another conversation, maybe with Mark and Andols as well, about the Roadrunner United project. I remember watching Matt riff Constitution Down with Joey Jordison and Steve DiGiorgio among others in that DVD and being blown away!

Rob - I was always curious, why weren’t you on RR United while a lot of your fellow Chimaira band members were (Mark, Andols, and Matt). With your amazing song writing skills, I wish Roadrunner would have made you one of the main song writers on that album like Heafy, Dino, Jordison, and Flynn. Maybe something you can talk about in a future Everything You Love episode.

I met everyone at the rabbit. I recall Jim saying the same thing to me both times I met him. I cannot tell you how much pure joy I felt seeing you two together on this. I love ill nino too dope shoutout. Thank you for the joy that almost nothing in life brings. Music is special and halls music does and will always mean the world to me. Thanks for being so cool to a 12 year old me when we met. It was way passed my bed time but my brother knew I loved you guys and All that remains. I wouldn’t trade anything for that night. One of my favorite photos is you and Matt on stage in mid-air jump with your seven string guitars (non-sigs and you both had short hair). Speaking of...I never thought we'd see him with short hair again - he was the last one haha. As your conversation went on, I was stoked to find out this is an hour long video! 27:30 The Astoria!!! Yes. London December 2005. Good show! I remember Mark Hunter saying "Stick a fork in us London, we're done!" whilst sat on the drum riser at one point. So I think the band was tired but you put on a hell of a show. Last time I saw you guys. Sadly, the Astoria is no longer there as it was demolished in 2009. It was a pivital venue for London. So many great memories.

Rob.......... I almost held back my tears all the video......... When I started to play guitar, you and Matt were a huge influence on me. I had a very diverse taste even then, I listened to a lot of different metal music, but Chimaira seemed to me something extraordinary, something completely original. And, of course, your guitar parts with Matt and Jason were some of the first guitar lines I learned. You and Matt are one of the best guitar duos in all of the history of not only metal, but rock music in general. You are a reference example of a tandem of guitarists, correct in every sense. I really hope that you will play with him again, and you will create something together!
P.S. Rob, I have always respected you very much for your dedication to the Superstrat-shape, since this bodyshape has always been my favorite, and everyone around went crazy with V's and traditional singlecut Les Paul-style shapes, which I didn't like at all.
P.P.S. Your signature M's and Matt's signature Vipers are real masterpieces, some of the best guitars ever made by ESP.

Still got my Ltd MFA/ Matt DeVries 600 and love that guitar despite being a bit neck heavy.
Thanks man! Was my biggest complaint about Vipers and SGs alike. Simple fix... carefully and I mean caaaarefully drill a new strap pin on the top horn. It’s a tricky thing since it’s so thin and pointy though. Don’t snap the wood. I would do that mod to all my Vipers so that the head didn’t drop on it’s own.

Matt I love that guitar to death, I live in Sweden and those are almost impossible to get here but I got mine from a guy that bought it overseas, I overpaid by a lot but I did not give a sh!t.
Well here is the deal, I use Dunlop strap locks and I use the "flush" model that you actually drill into the body ( check google ) and as you might know the part on the strap from Dunlop is pretty big in diameter and not sure it would work good on the horn.
Anyhow my thought was that since the "flush" thing you drill into the body is about 10 millimeters in diameter I thought of drilling the hole above the small one in the edge of the back so I counter weight it so to speak. But since I love that guitar and to my knowledge they are discontinued I might keep it as it it.

Graspop 2007, yes I was there! My only Chimaira festival show. Btw I remember wanting to go to the Eastpak Antidote 2007 tour with Soilwork, Chimaira, Dark Tranquillity, and then Chimaira unexpectedly dropped off and got replaced with Caliban. Bugger!! I still went though, Soilwork and Dark Tranquillity were awesome (they where touring in support of 'Sworn to a great divide' and 'Fiction' ! Opening band Sonic Syndicate was pretty cool too actually!
I regret that we dropped off that tour!

One of the best compliments I've ever been given was from Matt DeVries: "Man, that was fast" right after I shotgunned a beer on the Chimaira motor-home when you guys played New Orleans in '02. I was 18 years old at the time, and I still remember that show very fondly.
Oh, and not to leave you out either, Rob - Another one of my more fond memories of going to a show was going to see Chimaira and 3 Inches of Blood a few years later, and I had gone to the Chimaira Christmas a few months prior when you guys played Nothing Remains for the 1st time (Iron Sheik), and I was wearing my Chimaira Christmas shirt, drinking beer with Jamie Hooper when you and Mark got out of a car and you pointed at me and said "You went to that show?! Awesome!"

When I was walking with my dog I was listening to ressurection and the infection that was in my beloved town Minsk Mazowiecki then I was forced to move in England:(. Dude! Rob, watching this video, made me feel like I was in the band (for all those memories you guys shared)!! Hell, I know I miss playing in my band. The chemistry between you two is untouchable! Like others on here, you two influenced me to play guitar and I'll never forget hanging out with you guys twice in Bend, Oregon (along with other cities I been to watch chimaira). The first time was just you two outback, the second show was canceled because of soundboard issues, so you guys, Kataklysm, and I think Divine Heresy were nice enough to give us all a meet and greet!! Lastly man, I just want to say fuck you Co-Vid19, firstly, claiming thousands and thousands of lives, and secondly delaying the possible get together you mentioned to maybe spark another reunion or possibly bringing the band back!!
