Use lower footboards on these. The leg on a high platform has to be bent when the other leg reaches down to the pavement. That makes the leg on the platform get tired since it is bent and holding the full weight of a rider. If the platform sides touch the pavement when banked in a tight turn, lean to the inside of the turn which reduces the lean angle of the scooter. See video title, "Adult Kick Scooter, How to Build".
Sir your kind words are as good as your skill Thank you for both. I picked up a 20in. bmx and I'm building one of these for the summer. I hit 70 this year and plan to hot rod all over town.
Cool. I did basically the same thing. I built two "recycled recumbent bicycles" out of garage sale bikes and some stel tubing I bought. The welding takes some practice and better quality bikes you may choose to use have "chrome moly" tubing which can be more difficult to weld. I chose to use a wire feed tig welder with resin core wire so I didn't need to hook up a gas bottle. It's a lot neater than an ark welder.
Bad ass!!! Just the vid I needed to see. I scored a few small vintage BMX bikes that I haven’t been able to sell. Looks they’ll be going to the chop shop
Nice work! I built one for each of my kids as well. A stretched out west coast style one for my son and a smaller one for my daughter. now all the neighborhood kids want one. I think the hardest part was making sure the platform was going to be strong enough to withstand weight.
The Dark Side Thank you, but you can do this too. Start small. Try a little project and then build on your skill and knowledge base a little at a time. It just takes trying and being patient with yourself. Make some mistakes...learn from them and improve
Add some kind of small outboard rc boat motor, a throttle linkage, about 16 more inches of height on the handlebars, and a slick silver flake 80s style retro carnival paint job, that is truly awesome, wish I could build s*** like that
That is a great question...and is one the things that you have to be careful about. That, and that caster. So, most times I will build a jig to hold things straight, but for this on I didn't feel like doing that. So, basically tacked that head set to the down tube in a fashion that allows me to bend and reposition a tad bit. So, one good tack at a point that allows you to mover things around, but at the same time holding things well. I try to get things as straight as possible while tacking, then after tacking I prop the bike up straight and look at it carefully at all angle (you will be surprised at how well you can see when things are not straight if you relax and look carefully). If alignment needs a tweak, I tweak it until perfectly straight. I will check it with an angle finder also, just to make sure. Then tack the final position in place, then weld it all up. Hope that helps?
Greatings from Russia, dude!!! i'l get to do the best first like your, because it is not so hard to make. Thank YOU Very Much for such interesting idea!!! ALEXEY. Norilsk city
2 hydrolic jacks and a MIG welder... that ain't free. Guess that's where the "basically" comes into play. Nice project if you have a garage full of nice stuff. Turned out pretty cool though.
Devan Hofmann Ha! I was not considering the tools, since I already had them. But, I can understand if you don’t have them already. Tools are an expanse that can benefit you with other projects...so try to buy them as you need them. Many of my tools are 30 years old and purchased used
Gentjan Hasani I hear you, but my experience is that a lower deck hinders turning ability. This let’s you get a hard turn in when you want...without bottoming out (which can make you crash) thanks for the observation!!!!

I love how people can figure out a way to do whatever they need or want to do.

Joe Longstaff that is great to hear. It’s a fun project with a fun outcome.
This takes a lot of skill. Lots of measuring and aligning.

Sounds cool…send photos or links. I would love to see it
You are the EXACT reason I came to RUclips!!! I love seeing the creativity of others and sharing their talents 😎 #SoCool

awsome work bro. you really need to mass produce these types of scooters to get them out on the road again.
Amazing work my brother amazing!👊🏾
Thank you

That's cool to hear. I like riding it myself!
That's a good little project for me and my nephew to do. Thanks for the idea.
William Richards Great! I am glad you like it! Have fun!
You can be proud of your skills. Wish I could do something like this!

Loved the table vice:)
Very good....congratulations 👏👏👏

Ty I've been thinking about doing the same. I could find a grinder. I appreciate the links very much.
You say you are looking for a grinder? If so get one when Harbor Freight has a sale. www.harborfreight.com/search?q=grinder
Nice dude gave me perfect idea
Nice! What’s the idea?
I dig your Chukudu!
It begs for a free 2 stroke snowblower motor....

A nice bit of recycling some child will love playing on that
Steve Norton yup! My daughter thought it was cool.
Can you do one with brwaks n supports 350 pounds n dont rust?
Sure
I plan to do something soon
Awesome build. Can you explain to me how you kept the frame (wheels aligned vertically) straight so the wheels wouldn't be crooked?

Love it!
rustysuperbike thanks
Hope you don't mind if I lossly copy it when the quarantine is lifted here.
rustysuperbike the whole idea is for you to copy it😉
Damn looks slick!!
finished ?🙏
Maybe use that rear wheel support “nub” to hold a rear fender that way it would flatten it out. I’d be concerned someone would fall on that thing.
That's a good point. Thanks
Free $200 hr skill
Love you can do this for yourself 😎
Yes, but the idea is a nice little project for folks to learn on.
Learn one skill at a time…next thing you know you’re building cars
It looks great,congrats
Good 👍
Brake?
Sheza Kitchen this build uses you foot as a brake, but you can definitely add brakes to it
.. VERY NICE WELDING ..! BEAUTIFUL SCOOTER ..! Maybe a back rack for a back pack ...? Just sayin ...
Great idea
That was pretty cool and my grandson has a bike that he outgrew and would be perfect for something like, this...
John Turner thank you. Yup, it’s a great way to recycle old bikes and have fun
MASTER👍🏼🔥🔥🔥
Very good ❤️
Buen video brother me servirá de mucho
Gracias. mi allegro. Por favor, suscríbete y comparte
hahaha awesome dude! always wanted to weld ... but I'm too scared to the bright sparks, doesn't that hurt your eyes eventually?
Alex leBlanc if you wear the right safety gear, you should be fine....if you don’t you will know immediately lol
@@vazfx16 like I'm blind bro, so I just go buy a welding gun or something? LOL

Good skills I just bought a mongoose cheaper than a welder
I got the skill and equipment just not the time or materials.

Couldn't you go a little faster

While that is hella fucking cool, that is a lot of tools and space I do not have :(
Sousa Kalliovski just fun to make stuff. It takes time to build up tools etc. So, slowly build your tool chest over time
