- kayak fishing in Charleston using artificial lures only I cover my tackle & techniques.
I work a topwater spook most the morning trying to catch them the way I wanted too. However, the swim-bait bite was more consistent. Welcome to Current Angling.

liked and subbed. the tide and lure showing in the corner is a nice little addition
Thank you! I have an analytical personality and always want to know why things are happening. These extra detail are things I would want to see if I was learning and trying to replicate success. The tide is vital when inshore fishing and it can be difficult for viewers like yourself to determine otherwise. Thanks for the sub and comment! Nxt one recorded and out soon! 😉
@@CurrentAngling I have an analytical mind too and I fish both the SE NC coast and the SC coast on my hobie too. So this is informative and interesting for me!
Thanks for sharing this.
Of course, Thanks for watching!
Just going through these and loving the details you provide about how/why, the tide graph, etc.. Thanks. One thing I'd like to see on everyone's fishing videos is a date or at least the month and water temp if possible since we know patterns change with the seasons.
Great idea that and water Clarity is what someone else mentioned. I’m on the water in a couple minutes forgot graph for temp reading though. In search of bull reds!
Could you give us a general idea of where you fish? Cooper, Wando, Ashley, ICW? Thanks
Hey thanks for asking! I fish Folly, Sullivans and Wando mostly. However, I’ve found it’s more about the types of areas fish hold in and techniques than any particular spot.
Do you every eat fish you caught?
Yes I do. However, I release I release more than I keep. I am currently in the middle of a kitchen remodel so my fish have been getting even more discretion. Catch n cook when it’s finished? 🤔
And have you ever fished folly river can you make a video of folly river fishing
I used to fish it all the time but now live about 50 minutes North of it. I’ll get back soon tho!
Can you fish folly river in a video
Yeah I’ll get out there again. So far my sheepshead video and “Simple Rig” video are at folly. The techniques In My videos apply to all the lowcountry though.

Bro I'm new to charleston. We should link up sometime. I don't have a yak but I've been fishing at the wapoo ramp
I’ve fished there once. Don’t recommend that ramp for anyone in a kayak tho. Also try the other public ramp just across the cut and to the S/W it’s at the end of Plymouth Rd. Lots of rocks and structures to bank fish of that left side by the playground. Rod holders and benches too !
@@CurrentAngling caught my first saltwater fish there. A toadfish
Awesome video! I like the tide and lure indicators and how you slow down and deliberately point out what signs you're looking for. I'm trying to learn inshore fly fishing, so far I've gotten one flounder from the kayak
Thank you! I’d like to dabble with some flys soon. Maybe a 8 wt will be on my holiday wish list. Do u use 8 or 9 wt?
@@CurrentAngling 8. I've not had much issue getting the fly where I want it, even in wind and from a kayak. I'll report back how it handles a decent red when i hook up on one 😅 it landed a good sized flounder just fine
Yeah definitely let me know!
Wow! Great learning vid right here! I appreciate the effort your putting into helping others replicate what your doing, in their area👍 Loved the gear/lure session at the end of the vid, but perhaps you could add one more tidbit to the vid, and that’s water clarity when you start, and as you go along? You started with a dark bait, then moved to lighter bait? Water clarity? Here in SAV our water rarely gets as green/clean as y’all’s except in the dead of winter, so most times it’s muddy, or silty, or can be all three in the same day😳 Thanks again.
Thanks! I love sharing this stuff so it’s been fun.
Spot on I changed due to water clarity. In the morning it was a low tide which usually runs dirtiest. The tide came in and I moved to bigger body of water from the creek. You can see how clear it was when I went over the oyster mound after catching the trout.
