Can’t believe it took me so long to find out about and connect with this voice of the heavens Mosie Burks. Probably because during her heyday I was a young suburban kid in Los Angeles who hadn’t yet been to the Deep South and experienced the amazing culture and musical traditions born of pain, suffering and mixed with some triumph. I have over the years been to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia - all over the south and I absolutely love the people and the warmth I experience when there. Every one of us struggle, in different ways and for different reasons but when Mosie Burks sings it fills my heart completely. But I believe firmly Gods message delivered through an angel like Mosie transcends any barriers small minded bitter and hateful men may construct to keep us apart. I know she’s getting up there in years but May God bless and keep her. She is a national treasure.

She’s still alive and doing good but she is retired from the MMC. She’s not sick she’s just living in a seniors home. 🙏🏾🙋🏽♂️
