Your cat is soooo cute it looks like my first cat ever which makes me like her even more!
Great video! Thank you so much for your detailed explanation of this interesting product for the cats!
It’s truly pleasant to hear from you how much you both are loving and caring about your cats and being such good parents! Your cats are blessed to have you. God bless you both.
Thank you! Tuxies rule! 😺
Thank you so much for your kind words. 🙏😻 I'm glad you enjoyed the review.
Does this promo code work from the website only? Doesn’t seem to work through amazon.
What a great idea. Back in the day my cats would have LOVED this.
Keeps them safe.
If you wanted a bigger one, buy 2, 3 or 4 and assemble them side by side and cut a piece of mesh out so the cats can go between them.
Good idea. Have you done this?
I think that it is very nice aesthetically, but I agree with you about buying some more and connecting them with mini tunnels for example. The aesthetics are so nice, you could do the whole wall.
I'm not entirely sure why I am watching this, as I don't have a cat 🤔, but here I am 🤨.
Haha, is your subconscious telling you that you want a cat? 😹🐾
@@ThePurringJournal well obviously I want a cat 😩, but I am an aunt to a host of cats so that will have to do for now 😕😢.
Get a cat ! Immediately ! LOL :)
Me either and I live in a condo 😂

Neat! I've been thinking about getting a prefab and embelishing it a touch since I have the skills and tools to do so, and having bones to start the project lets me get straight to the fun bit of fabricating the pieces that'll make it Mine. This kit looks like a great jumping off point for creating a catio that lets the kitties touch the ground, seeded with cat grass, with an established japanese mayple growing in the middle. Big modification is gonna be the roof so it slopes into the existing roof gutters.
Being in Maine I would have to look at the quality of the wood and roof weight capacity. I am sure I would have to add Thomson’s water seal. I would also have to make some extra safety adjustments for extreme winter wearing. Overall it looks really well built. To be honest I really love it. It looks sharp and not tacky. Don’t forget to have it on a solid service or enemies can dig into the cage.
That sounds like a great plan! Good luck. 😺 And yes, very good tip! 👍 That's why I'm glad we had to elevate ours (because the bottom board acts as extra safety). ❤
How nice for you kitties. I would fix some carpeting to some of the platforms for a more comfy place to lounge.
Better yet, get some scratchable material. Otherwise, they'll scratch the wood of the catio. I'd know, I have a wooden screened-in porch and they LOVE "marking" it by tearing it up. Granted, mine is raw wood that isn't painted, so Idk if the gray paint on this catio will deter them at all or not.
The Catio is missing all the soft pillows and blankets of your bed that cats like.
Very good review! I like that you pointed out the slight imperfections because it takes the wind out of someone's sail who you KNOW would have complained to the company about them. You probably saved some poor customer service person a few headaches and, as someone who does CS, I thank you for that.
We take review honesty very seriously! ❤ And we have both worked in customer service before, so we know how it is! Thank YOU for all that you put up with all day, haha. 😺
To preserve it from the weather. Buy a couple of gallons of the Thompson's Water Seal. Use paint brushes or use a paint sprayer, heavily coat everything with a couple coats of Thompson's Water Seal then let it dry. Do this once a year.
Didn't know there were pre-fab catios. I will definitely look further into this!
Pretty neat, right? 😺
With my catio I used heavy clear plastic from the hardware store. They cut it to the length and for the winter I just stapled it to the walls and used a piece in the house window. I then took it down after the storms n cold. My two cats used the catio all year long. Great build.
I'd like to see a picture of this.
@@maditall126 I have one trapped in old pc. I used 2x3’s and made the front frame on my lawn. It was 8’ wide 7’ tall. with a 2’ wide door. Then I nailed a board to my house at 8’ apart and started the side walls that were 4’. The pet screening was 4x7 so it was only 7’ tall. The pet screen was $19. Each and I had four maybe five. I then put in the shelves one right outside the window and then staggered thru out and the two kitty boxes. Loved the boxes outside. Then I used a tin roof with it really slanted to have good rain run off.. I only needed help when I went to connect the front to the side walls. I had never built anything like this and this old gal was really proud. It cost about $300 in 2013. Oh I covered the shelves with felt and it was a mess. It really trapped the hair. This was a matter of necessity because my place was so small so just did it. I sold that place and it was three years old and still looked new. It helped with the sale as she had two cats also. For the door you need to put a cross beam to keep the door square. God bless and hope this helps. Oh because we had so many raccoons I put 2x8 lattice work around the bottom for keeping cats in n other critters out.
The babies ' gonna feel comfy there 😌 💕
For sure! 😺
Maggie is absolutely precious.
Thank you for sharing this. My first thought when you unboxed it was overwhelming! As I'm definitely not handy but watching the rest of it had me thinking maybe I can do this too. I have 2 cats who are rescues who used to live outside but our neighborhood is not safe at all so they are house cats now and they love it when we open the windows. Our house is elevated to so seeing how you did it really helps. Thank you again and be blessed!
It looks very stylish. I am in Australia and I was not in a position to put a catio together (arthritis) so I bought a precut clip together modular 'climbing' wire mesh kit with painted plank platforms and a mesh bed, and I paid the company to erect it. It's smaller in floor area but taller than your catio. My catio sits on concrete and has been fixed into the concrete. I was concerned that it would be very cold to sit on when it rains so I followed the company installer's advice and bought a piece of fake grass to line the floor. This has been a huge success as it has a thick rubber underlay and my cat likes it plus it dries quickly in the sun.
It's interesting your cats like to go out in theirs in the daytime. My cat, aside from a quick look outside after breakfast, likes to sleep in the day and spend the night in her cat run guarding the house from stray cats, roaming dogs and a possum that occasionally comes around. LOL
The cat run is partially under the eaves of the house but because she takes her duties so seriously, she will stay out even if it rains and only come inside once the sun is up. it has been worth every cent to buy it. I only wish I could have afforded to get one years ago for the cats I owned before my current one.
Take out that fake grass, put in a couple of inches of real dirt and grow some grass. Cats love grass!
you could add self stick carpeting
ME-OW!!! A TRUE and HONEST review. Thank you!! I need this for my cats. Especially for Carlos. He's trying his best to be an escape artist.
Catios are great, mine go out every day
That's pawsome! It's like a kitty paradise. 🐾
I like it, my cat Tuxedo would definitely use it every day. He's an indoor cat, but at times tries to get out the front door. There is one thing though, I think the screening holes need to be a little smaller. Mosquitoes could easily get through that, and bite your cat, and you.
One way to avoid bugs getting in is to put a flap at the window (just like a doggie door). That's what we plan on adding soon. 😺 As for potecting our cats from bugs, they get flea protectant medicine year-round, and the particular one we use also kills and repels mosquitoes.
@@ThePurringJournal What do you use?
Frontline. 😺
I plan on putting screen over the existing wire..
Great job to you both. Love it. Enjoy kittys❤❤❤
And now, one for Rod!! 😸
I really appreciate that you posted this video! I purchased the same one and I'd never put anything together that came in two boxes, let alone something so large, so it was so nice to watch this and see what to expect. Lovely kitties and ty :D
Wow! I checked the link and that is very expensive, I'm sure it can be done cheaper. Thankyou for sharing your Catio experience.
@@CharleyFelino thanks for the heads up. That is expensive.
@@CharleyFelino $409 is not an insane price for such a large enclosure.
Hey we just wanted to Catio-congratulations on your very own. We are not builders but learned a few things about tools as we created our 3 catio spaces. Just a warning, once put on your catio imagination, there is no end to the project. We look forward to seeing more of your catio adventures!
Thanks friend! 😻
Your video has convinced me that I am also not very handy 😁 I can watch all the DIY catio vids, but I will buying a prefab catio like this, when the time comes! ty
THANK YOU gir a well done video on this product. Thinking of getting this. It is now Feb 2023 & they have 1 3v3n larger catio now & one this same size but different design. Seems like a goid company. I subscribed to your channel. Appreciate the ' cat'titude .
I just bought this catio for my three cats , simply because of this video. I have one question, how do you attach it to your house?
OMG your kiities are so cute!
I'd use waterproof wood glue with the screws. Beautiful cats.

Happy Caturday.
Astounding idea.
Salutations 💌
Very good review.
Was there some kind of "floor" in the kit to make this completely enclosed in case of coyote or mountain lion? Looks a little unstable and easy to knock over.
We built our 4 cats a catico from scratch. This structure has two rooms and is huge, hubby went wild on it. Something along the lines of what Deborah Rowe has (comment below). He also added bug screening as it is accessed from our family room window which would allow insects in - ugh! Bugs!
How cool! 😺 Bug screens were a great idea. We plan on adding a flap at the window (just like a doggie door).
WELL, I GUESS YOU WOULD
HAVE TO BUY
TWO OF THEM.
FOR LARGER ENCLOSURE.
AUGUST 2023
I love this idea. But, can you get mosquito screening instead of the 1/2"- 1" fencing to keep the bugs out of the house?
None of their models have mosquito screening. But an easy fix is to put a plastic flap or cat door on the window. This way, your cat can go in and out as they please, but bugs won't come in. 🐈
❤
Happy Caturday Y'all...! Thanks for this Review... Good Job...! We have a Catio too, and it makes a LOT of difference in the Cats' quality of Life... I have a suggestion for Y'all: Go to Lowes and buy some cans (about 4 should do) of Helmsman Satin Clear spray sealer... it will protect your Catio from water damage, AND UV Sun fading... it's a small cost for big protection, and will extend the life of your Catio. Spray the outside only, and not the platforms, because it dries with a hard shell, and would make the platforms too slippery if sprayed there. GodSpeed Y'all...! =(^-^)=
Awesome. Thank you.
Great idea, thank you so much. 👍😺
Sage looks like my cat Buddy
Thanks for this I have been looking at these sorts of catios and was wondering on the build quarity
Great video
Hi, I'm wondering about the connection between the catio and window...does the instructions explain how to do that or did you just leave off some of the wiring?
I'd love to know more about building a platform that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. I didn't order this catio before because our windows are a little high, but there are community regulations that I have to follow in making it look nice so if I raised it with a platform, it would have to look like something management would approve of.
Thank you very much for this video! I've been debating on getting this one but was concerned on whether or not my cats would be able to get in and out into it through the window or not.
How do you attach the catrio to the house? In order the wind don’t blow out it
I am actually in the process of having an AIR52 sent to me here in the US Virgin Islands. I am curious, as this video is a year old, how is your catio is holding up? Have the elements taken a toll? Thank you for this video! I am encouraged by it.
My cat is "about" 10 years old but also is developing cataracts. He's always been an indoor / outdoor cat, but I've been thinking about something like this as being far less dangerous. Thanks for the example.
How well does the mesh prevent insects/spiders or other small creatures from entering your main house, given the open window to allow free access for cats?
Questions: it seemed a little wobbly during assembly. Do you actually attach it to the wall of the house to stabilize it? How? Do you simply leave out one of the panels for the window opening? How does that work? Thanks!
Ours is on a stable wooden platform and is perfectly stable. However, if we didn't have this platform we would anchor it to the house! Yes, the back window panel was left out for the window. Ours is attached to an enclosed patio, but if we didn't have the patio, we would have installed a plastic flap or cat door on the window to prevent bugs. 😺
I would ever buy this! LOL
I really wish that you were able to add a video segment on the attachment of the roof to the catio
Leaving the window open to the catio would let in bugs. I think I would put in a litter box and water and leave the window closed for out door time. I will go look for smaller size.
Adding a plastic flap or cat door to the window will prevent bugs. Either way, they have smaller sizes if you prefer. 😺
Is this for worldwide shipping?, this looks very cool. And i would love too get this but i believe that its a but too late now so i should prob get it next year because it gets really cold were i live
Sorry, but I'm not 100% sure! 🤔 You can always ask their customer service:

Did you have to cut a hole on the screen for the cats to be able to go into the catio??
Nice catio, just wild that they are selling that, I think you could have built something yourselves just as easily. Good job, though
I've been looking at these! I live in a fifth wheel camper and don't know if this would work. I'm disabled and would have to hire someone to put it together and install it. I live in a small town but traffic is heavy. The kitties always try to escape. I think it would be perfect for them. My problem is trying to find someone that wants to work! 😔 Thanks!
yeah I have one of these and I don't agree with these being for cats these are more for birds if you ask me which is why I have one as a bird cage and I'm actually extending mine I have now to make my Virgin space even bigger.
Just a question. Did you secure this to the house at all? If so, how?
Nope, it's sitting flush against the house. It's pretty sturdy and has been through some bad weather with no problens.
@@ThePurringJournal thank you so much! My partner and I have been thinking about building a catio for when we move in together but weren't sure if it needs to be secured to the wall of the house.
It would not work with air conditioning, heat of bugs with an open window. We used a window cat door to solve that issue.
Did you attach the cardio to the siding of the house or is it heavy enough that the cats wouldn’t be able to knock it down?
How is yoru Aivituvin holding up? 1 year later.
Is the roof built at a small incline for rain run off?
How many cats max do you think could be in at one time?
Aivituvin's description says this one fits up to 5 cats. I think that's about right because one could easily lay on each platform and the 5th could lay at the very bottom. 🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈
How do you keep bugs out of your house with that window wide open? Nobody ever addesses that in these videos.
In our case, the catio is attached to an enclosed patio, so bugs getting into the house is a non-issue as long as the door that leads into the main house is closed. But if we didn't have a patio, we would simply install a cat door or cat flap in the window to keep the bugs out.
I'm wondering if it would be easy to put those hiding boxes up top instead? Silly to me they are low.
Terence Walk
Where can I get this prefab catio in india?
Can you buy 2 and attach together to make bigger?
That Sage's catio
I like your catio. However I am lucky that I live in a country that is rabies and large predator (ie mountain lions, links and bear free) so don’t have the same need for one. My cat enjoys exploring the great outdoors!
Hi! I wondered how structurally sound it is in you opinion. If we had high winds could it fall over?( and no we wouldn't let the cats go out on it in inclement weather). Finally, for the cat walk/ steps how much weight would it hold? I have 2 f2 Savannah cats and as you know they are big boys. Thank you.
Hi Julie! 😺 I find it to be pretty sturdy, so I think it will be fine during normal storms. But if you live in an area that is prone to harsh storms, I would anchor it for extra security. For a weight reference, Sage is a chonky boy and (so far) the shelves have stayed in tact with no issues. But if you want to find out the exact weight limit, you can always ask their customer service: bit.ly/3DPDXUM
Do they make a winter version? Like windows w screens?
I don't believe so, no. But you should pitch that idea to them, haha.
@@ThePurringJournal essentially I need modular Florida rooms
Wonder if it would work in an apartment
As long as the measurements are right for the window, it would! They also sell smaller versions if you prefer.
Is there a Catio for a condo balcony?
They have smaller sizes, which might work. You can always check the dimensions under their product descriptions.
@@ThePurringJournal Thank you.
Do the cats stay ok inside? I'm wondering if my cat would be meowing to let her out of the enclosure.
They come in and out as they please! The catio has an opening which is flush against a window that we open when they're allowed out. To prevent bugs you can put a plastic flap on the window (like a doggie door).
@@ThePurringJournal thank you. I was wondering about meowing to get out of the catio, like getting into the backyard.
Do your cats stay fine in the catio or do they also ask to get out into the backyard?
I've looked at purchasing and I have an ideal location. Being in the South I'm worried about mosquitos. Any suggestions?
A plastic flap or cat door on the window will do the trick!
Do you just butt it up against the window? Is there a seal? Are you worried about loosing your heat/air or bugs getting in?
We have it flushed against the window. We have ours connected to an enclosed patio, so bugs don't get in the house. But if we didn't have this kind of set up, we would simply install a plastic flap or cat door on the window. 😺
How do you feel about the roof? I live in NE Ohio and we get a lot of rain, I worry about it standing on the roof. Think there's anyway to add a strip of wood during the build to one side at the top to make the roof slant? Thanks!
The roof is covered with weatherproof asphalt, so overall it's pretty sturdy. After all, it's designed to handle the outdoors. We haven't had any problems with rain. 😺
@@ThePurringJournal thanks! I ended up ordering one this morning, thank you for the video.
Is it attached to the house?
Can anyone provide the proper dimensions of this cat house? Is it truly 9 feet wide??
What is the price on the catio?
The link to the catio is in the description (and a pinned comment up top). We didn't mention the price in the video in case the company ever changes it.
Not crazy about the non screen as bugs and fleas will enter the enclosure
Our cats are on flea preventative year-round. As for protecting the house, an easy solution is to attach a plastic flap to the window so that they can go in and out like a doggie door. 😺
1:40 like this whole thing isn't going to get dirty sitting out doors where there is dust, rain, etc?
interessante...😄
Very nice plastic catio
It's sad these cats don't know what grass feels like under their paws
Cats can deal with it, no problem. You can always buy a piece of sod to lay in there.
Please put that beautiful kitty on a diet, being obese with rob him of a lot of years… unfortunately speaking from experience
In what universe is that annoying repetitive drum beat beneficial to any video?
👁👁 OMG 😱 wayyyy too complicated
Looking to hire a professional….
Haha, it really wasn't hard! And neither of us have any building experience. But if you are hiring someone, that is a great opportunity to make it EXTRA big and unique! 😺
It's actually rather small, to me, but that might be because I have a whole lot more cats, and my Catio is 20ft×8ft×8ft, with sleeping quarters for summer, lots of perches, two cat trees inside, 3 litter boxes, water fountain, etc!
Wow, how cool! I bet they love it. ❤ It sounds like a cat paradise. 😺
Wow. Very nice
Can you share a picture of your Catio? Or perhaps upload a video to your RUclips. I would like to see this.
I was thinking about putting 2 together until I saw the price. It gave some ideas though. Did you design your own?
Nice looking unit that I’m sure your cats will use a lot. I have a second floor balcony that I don’t use, so I decided that it’s perfect as a catio. I cut a hole through the wall and installed a pet door so my cat can go out anytime he wants, even during the winter. You might consider doing that also. You’re likely going to want to keep the window your cats use, closed in cold weather. A dedicated cat access with pet door would allow your cats greater use of the catio.
Love the new logo
Is it made with WIRE mesh, or is that plastic????? Plastic wouldn’t last very long with MY cats.
Klocko Walks
How did you remove the back? So the cats can come from the house to the catio.
Very nice. like
Thanks for sharing! I just started seeing the Catios. Never thought of a pre fab, but knew I needed one for my one cat and my herd of ferrules to keep them safe. I'm going to look into this. Totally appreciate the review on the book and the putting together. Usually the engineer book is the worst 😂and the ability to put all the pieces together are paramount! 🥰
How much $$$?
The link to the catio is in the description (and a pinned comment up top).
Just finished rebuilding my catio built from scratch, this looks so much easier! 😸
I'd suggest putting a proper padlock or something on both doors outside, I realise it'd be a simple job to cut a hole in the mesh if someone was that way inclined but I think it's better to be cautious.
Just seeing the boxes opened with all of those pieces, gave me anxiety. I need someone to build it for me.
