The man could do it all, but his singing on many of his post Ziggy albums still astonishes me, tracks like this plus Wild is the Wind on Station to Station are fine examples of this master craftsman’s sublime magic as a singer of the very highest calibre. RIP David Bowie & thnx for all the beautiful music.
Considering Bowie's voracious appetite during this period for coke, speedballs, booze, and other not-so-nutritious substances, it's a miracle he made it past thirty and avoided joining many of his peers as a woeful member of the infamous 27 Club. This being said, I still consider DB's death at age 69 to be the premature passing of an incredible personality who had MUCH more to give to this world if he had been permitted just a couple more decades of life on our mortal coil. Oh well. In the end, we all should be happy we were graced with a talent of his kind, in the first place!
@@adnilbraganza2211if it was not for hearing & seeing David Bowie and Mick Ronson on the Midnight Special and their last live public performance at the legendary Hammersmith Odeon in 1973, I would not still be playing guitar today and for that matter I'd probably would not of ever been influenced & inspired to pick up and learn to play an electric guitar just like Mick Ronson and emulate his distinctive sound with a half cocked position Cry Baby wah wah pedal, a Gibson Les Paul and Marshall half stack amp.. ❤👨🏻🎤🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵

I've seen clips of this footage but not complete like this. Bowie on coke, in a limo cruising NYC's seedy district, to the awesome track, WIN... how can you not win? ;>)
NYC's "seedy district" was Time square in it's decline-- full of peep shows & strip clubs. You can see similar footage in Scorsese's 1976 classic 'Taxi Driver'. Yes I also heard Bowie was struggling with coke at this time, and struggling with his management, which was ripping him off. Alladin sane was A Lad insane according to Bowie himself, and was captured beautifully in this video & song.
Should've kept "It's Gonna Be Me" and "Who Can I Be Now" on the album. Two such remarkable songs. Have to think there's a way to keep them and "Fame" on there, even with the limitations of the quality of vinyl after 40 minutes. Never cared for the cover of "Across the Universe", and either "Can You Hear Me" or "Somebody Up There Likes Me" could've been cut too, if necessary, imo.
Nothing plastic about this, or his other work during the mid-late 1970s (Pin Ups to Lodger). Young Americans is as good anything coming out of Detroit.
One of my fave Bowie tracks, if that is even possible!
For some reason this was the first song on my mind upon entering 2024
So beautiful 🥰😍 from the album Young Americans

One of his best songs.

At least we got some good albums from him and he didn’t die at 27
The sniff at the beginning of the vid……
He recalled he could not remember this period in his life, because he was so high on drugs, but he recorded this absolute beauty.😊❤

Speedballs? You sure he was injecting heroin and cocaine? I’m not sure he even knew he did that
My favorite Bowie song

Fantastic Album and this song is a personal favourite of mine x
Great album and a little known gem. A sure go to for my Bowie fix, among many, but this special.
Another favorite, can't have just one. Another shade of Bowie evoking other emotions. Thank you so much Davey Jones

Win"
(Hey, it ain't over)
Me, I hope that I'm crazy
I feel you driving and you're only the wheel
Slow down, let someone love you
Ooh, I've never touched you since I started to feel
If there's nothing to hide me
Then you've never seen me hanging naked and wired
Somebody lied, I say it's hip
To be alive
Now your smile is spreading thin
Seems you're trying not to lose
Since I'm not supposed to grin
All you've got to do is win
(Ooh, that's all you've got to do)
(Ooh, it ain't over)
Me, I'm fresh on your pages
Secret thinker sometimes listening aloud
Life lies dumb on its heroes
Wear your wound with honor, make someone proud
Someone like you should not be allowed
To start any fires
Now your smile is spreading thin
Seems you're trying not to lose
Since I'm not supposed to grin
All you've got to do is win
(Ooh, that's all you've got to do)
(Ooh) It ain't over
Now your smile is spreading thin
Seems you're trying not to lose
Since I'm not supposed to grin
All you've got to do is win
(Ooh, that's all you've got to do)
(Ooh) All you got to do is win (it ain't over, no)
And your smile is spreading thin (Ooh, seek and believe in you)
It seems you're trying not to lose (Ooh, it ain't over, no, no)
Since I'm not supposed to grin (Ooh, that's all you got to do)
All you've got to do is win (Ooh, it ain't over, no)
(Ooh, seek and believe in you)
All you've got to do is win (Ooh, it ain't over, no, no)
Woo-hoo! (Ooh) All you've got (that's all you've got to do)
Is all you've got (Ooh, it ain't over)
It ain't over

I haven't seen it for a long time, but I think it's from the Cracked Actor documentary.
Great find! Thanks U so much!
Excellent video for this song!
Well done video mix. One of my favorite Bowie songs. Thanks for post!
Genius!
So so stunning

ALADDIN SANE also in reference to his deceased brother.

A sexy song.

I agree 100% with that.
Love this song amazing x
Lovely :)
@ 3:45 he says: “Did I leave the oven on?” Look closely.
You made me look.

Was this from a doc? I’d like to watch more
