  • Virtual Acoustics (VA) is a powerful framework for the auralization of virtual scenes and is developed at the Institute for Hearing Technology and Acoustics. It uses physics-based models for source, sound propagation and spatialization at the receiver and allows rendering scenes in real-time. Due to its modularity, VA can be applied to a variety of scenarios. However, this also is one of the main obstacles for new users when trying to get started.
With the new version v2022a, some major updates within the software but also the documentation are introduced making developers’ and users’ lives easier. In this presentation, the general concept behind VA’s audio processing is recapped before introducing the new features of v2022a. Finally, a variety of use cases - ranging from free-field over room acoustic to aircraft flyover scenarios - are discussed.

VA is awesome, I have managed to use it in my master thesis project in 2018
