  • This Ilocano dish is made with bamboo shoots and Jute leaves and grilled or fried fish simmered in a flavorful broth of fermented fish and onions.It involves a simple process of boiling vegetables in a broth seasoned with fermented fish sauce. Grilled or fried fish is also added at the end of cooking to heighten flavors. MANGAN!!!
    INGREDIENTS
    -500g bamboo shoots
    -5cups water (for boiling bamboo shoots)
    -3 pcs Sliced onions
    -1pc sliced ginger
    -3tbsp Bagoong pangasinan(fermented fish sauce)
    -1bunch saluyot (Jute leaves)
    -1pc large tilapia
    -4cups water (use in cooking)
    -1tsp seasoning
    -ground black pepper
