Thank you very much for your feedback and knowledge. I was leaning toward the osprey but have heard good things about yhm too. Really really appreciate your time. I've been teetering on the fence for quite awhile now and videos like yours help quite considerably. Great work
your welcome. btw - I think I did a comparison vid between osprey 45 and yhm 45...but it was shooting 10mm through each of them. One other thing to consider - If you really like the take apart features etc. AAC Ti-Rant 45 is a awesome Can but not as durable as the YHM. Coolness goes to osprey. Wet quiet goes to osprey. First round pop (dry) goes to Tirant 45. Dry shooting 2nd round and on would be a toss up between osprey and tirant.
Home defense - I don't think it would matter. Adrenalin will be pumping. You won't feel much, see much, or hear much of anything. I think the most important thing for home defense would 1. have a gun that you shoot the most and are best with. 2. have a light and laser on it. 3. easy access with multiple mags. Suppressor is added length - which has advantages and disadvantages. Noise reduction, flash reduction, recoil reduction, easier to aim with, better accuracy.
Old video post, I know, but I want to point out that normal factory ammunition is a poor option for suppressor use. The decibal reduction isn't that great, reducing sound to about as loud as a nailgun. Subsonic ammo is the way to go.
Finally considering what you have to go through to get one. IMO after going through the process...I wouldn't base my decision on money even if it was a $3-400 difference. Cuz when your out showing off to your buddies...the only thing that matters is how quiet is it.
YHM - heavy duty so you could probably get away with hot rounds through it such as 185gr or 45 super or 460 rowland? (not sure, just a guess) But it is steel internals if I remember right. You can take it apart to clean it...though some would argue that the osprey doesn't need it because of the huge chambers nothing really gets trapped. Both have different pistons you can buy for multipe caliber use. Comes down what you want the Can to do for you.
I have just a little bit. One friend has an Osprey 45 and one has the YHM 45.... Dry - I'd say the Osprey is better. Wet - I'd say the difference is less but the osprey is still a bit better. Then one must consider features - osprey - better for seeing your sights, won't loosen during firing...can't spin off and cause a baffle strike, has more internal volume so wet firing would last longer, has a cool factory because it's different. YHM - heavy duty ...continued...
That would be the uninformed 'popular opinion'. Unlike what you see on TV, most supressors reduce the gunshot to more tolerable levels ie 160db supressed to 130 - 140 db. Notible exceptions to that are generally purpose built rifles such as the De Isle carbine or .300 whisper. These are not weapons of choice by criminals.
Really like your vids, already bought a threaded barrel for my glock 30 and just wondered if you had ever tried the osprey suppressor, there is quite a difference in price between the yhm and osprey. Just wondered if you had shot them both and if there was a noticeable difference. Once again great videos and enjoy watching
I respectfully disagree. They are used all the time for hunting in Europe as there is a lot of at dusk or night hunting. It's just a muffler for a gun same as a muffler for a car.
On my end every round sounded Supersonic. Whats up with that.im not being funny but Is the suppressor working? Even out of shorter barrel platforms wet or dry i haven’t seen a 45acp be this loud with a suppressor (since the 230 grain are naturally subsonic)
Nevermind this idiot shadowsintodust. Great informative video, but I would like some info. Personally, is the reduction worth the cost, for lets say indoor home defense situation. So I dont destroy my hearing as I'm shooting? .45acp indoors + no hearing protection = deaf and stunned shooter. Not to mention the muzzle flash just kills your night sight. So, in summary, do you think its worth the money? Thanks.
But it's also longer and could be taken away from you easier. Slower to raise up or swing around/move from side to side. Personally I have two Glock 20's both with TLR2s's on them. But one has a Can on it for my wife shooting watered down 10mm and I get the one without the can...loaded with underwood 180gold dot bullets.
It sounds like they're breaking the sound barrier.

yeah! nice I've the same setup pretty loud when it's dry,It's awesome when it's wet....
Do you have a link too where you got the threaded barrel?

what does he mean by wet and dry?
you must be 14 or older to watch this video.
Bro I’m 20 years old rn I asked that question 3 years ago I think I was still old enough to watch the video

What are you using as a "wet" medium?
did you have to put a different recoil spring for the gun to cycle or is it oem?
NICE vid. So what you actually WET the supressor in water?
did it require gunsmithing to get the barrel to fit in the gun?
5 or 6 cc's of water usually
Got a glock 30 .45...... loud as shit don't surprise me that u can still hear echo in video

Never had a problem with this barrel ?

I have a model 30 with aac tyrant can very quiet and accurate I love her
yeah always have heard great things about the ti-rant 45.
Ammo Test
Richard Leathers What would you say is more quiet, the G30 or the G21 with the longer barrel?
I respectfully disagree. They are used all the time for hunting in Europe as there is a lot of at dusk or night hunting. It's just a muffler for a gun same as a muffler for a car.

Did you have to pay a fee too the ATF for the suppressor?
Not really sure what it's for...it's still loud. Not like the movies.
Aren't .45s supposed to be subsonic or are you shooting +P
hate to say it but did you watch the video? opening intro - shows the box and it has +p on it :)
I guess I missed that part.
koolkitty8989 that was a very in-depth comment, thank you

Cool
Would be better with subsonic ammo
water
$200 every time :(
Is this sarcasm?
