Hey mate! Thank you for the videos. I'm a structural engineer who used to work overseas and now moved to Australia. I want to work as a structural design engineer but I'm a bit worried about the different code, standards, materials, etc and I'm struggling to find the proper resources to learn all of these. Could you please give me a list of resources/books/websites where I can learn each component. For example where to learn about concrete design, foundation, soil, steel design. And also where to learn the relevant software that they use here and tell me what software you use. I'm good at ETABS and SAFE but I don't think they use them here. I just need guidance on what things I should learn and where I learn them from so that I can be confident to work as a design engineer here. Thank you so much and best of luck!
Nothing to worry mate. Engineering is the same everywhere. Codes unfortunately are paid and expensive to purchase in Australia. You may find something online for free. In the description of my videos, I have books I recommend. They are all based on Australian Standards. CCAA (concrete association australia) website has some good resources as well. You can have a look at the NCC (National Construction Code) which is free available online. Have a look at Hyne timber design. A lot of firms use it for residential timber projects. Concrete Masonry Association Australia website. I have a video on Software on the channel. I show the ones I use. I've never used ETABS, but I know that some large firms in Australia use it. Hope that helps
After finishing uni, I honestly didn't know how to design the footings, footings spanning soft spots, design the stem, masonry walls design, reinforcement for crack control, the standards I should use, how basement walls work, load transfer, how the engineering offices in Australia design Retaining walls, compaction behind retaining wall. I wouldn't sell anything I wouldn't buy myself.
A primer on LTB in timber would be fantastic. Rarely talked about as much as steel.
Very good points.
Would love a video on LTB in both timber and steel beams!
Awesome. Will do it. :)
I am with you 😊
Thanks for the videos they are awesome and keep me motivated.
Thanks for the support kyle
Please make the VDO about LTB in steel design in Autodesk Robot.
Sounds good
