- My "old" cover of Mysterious Ways by U2. I have done a second take on this song with KORG A2, which you can see here: • U2 - Mysterious Ways -...
On this one I used: Fender Stratocaster + DigiTech RP 80. Okay, I don't have a 12-string Rickenbacker and I didn't have the Korg A3 unit at the time when I recorded this take, which is really essential for the "mysterious" sound of this song. I didn't even want to try at first, since the Digitech RP 80 is realy...basic. But then I tried to fool with it. The crucial effect is a heavy Auto-Wah. The Digitech actually has an Auto-Wah, but the sound was simply no good with it. I finally came up with this sound, where I used Phaser instead of Auto-Wah and eventhough the sound is far from perfect, I think it is pretty good, considering that it was done only with the Digitech RP 80. I hope you will like it.
The preset of my RP 80 is: Pickup/Wah - OFF, Compressor - 10, Amp Model - t9, Noise Gate - G5, Chorus/Mod - P4, EQ - b5, d5, t5, Delay - A2 / 450ms, Reverb - H3. Guitar - I played the middle pickup, the tone knob in the position 7. Видеоклипы
Cant stop watching this! Genius cover!
Thank you very much, I am really glad you like it!
Wow! Amazing performance! You just motivated me to go back and try this song again!!!
You are truly great, if The Edge saw you play, he would be quite surprised!!!!
Solo maravilhoso!!!!
In nine and a half years you've had not ONE Dislike, and properly so! Amazing cover, I can't believe you ONLY have 271 Likes!
Great job! It's a pleasure to watch and listen to you play and it's helpful to see how you treat certain parts of the song. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks a lot for your kind words! I hope I will re-record the song soon with the KORG A2, which will give it the right effects.
You nailed a very complicated song to play HappyStrat24 -- very proud of your work. Your recording came through nicely too. I could hear the guitar and backing perfectly mixed. There aren't too many mysterious ways covers out there on youtube. Great work, and great playing!
Great job dude, you kinda own it yourself in the way you play it.
Thank you very much for your nice comment.
grat fun with the effect !
I used this to video to help perfect this song which I am playing in a show. I even used the setting your using as I have the same pedal.
Thanks for posting!
Well Done, excellent job done here!!
Thank you very much! :-)
Sounds mysterious enough ☺ - great job
Thanks! :-)
Thank you! And upload your version, I would like to see / hear it!
Cool cover. Well done.
Thanks for your nice comments. You are right about the tone and about the turning off the phaser on the solo. The thing is, that with that Digitech I would have to switch to another preset, which would create a silent gap. It should be turned off before the arpegios and there is no time for sort of hiding the gap. So I decided to record with one preset actually. I've been planning to re-record it for more than a year now, since I have the KORG A2 now...to be continued
excellent job! Enjoyed it
+Tim Johnson Thanks!
Thanks a lot! The recording was done in a really simple way - the guitar is plugged into the Digitech RP 80 multiefect (it is a very simple one) and that goes directly to the computer. The most basic stuff really, no amp, no mic. The software used for recording is the Cool Edit Pro
Thanks a lot, I am very flattered! Is there any video of you playing this song? I would like to see it.
I honestly like this more than the official version.
grat fun with the effect !
Thank you for your kind words!
Dang, dude, there's no freakin' way to properly compliment you on this... this is just beyond words...
Thank you so much for your kind words. I will soon post another cover of this song with the KORG A2 unit, so hopefully with the sound closer to the original.
I don't know how you could improve it, but... you're the artist... I doubt that I could play even a single note! At any rate, I'll definitely be looking forward to hearing it!
this is todays paow chika paow wow!! every adult movie should start like this!
i like song.buenisimo 🍻🕺👏👏
Awesome :)
Thanks a lot!
Great playing and sound... How do you rec your guitar: mic...software?
Thanks for your help!
bon travail!!!
Thanks!
Congratulations
well done
Where did you get the backingtrack?
...but can't get myself back to the stuff I have already done. I hope I will get to it. Pride and Streets would also deserve to be re-recorded, but I am always more into learning new stuff. And the RP80 - yes, it went straight to the computer, actually an old laptop. Since then I got myself a nice VOX amp, Shure mic, an external soundard. So my last couple of videos are done in the "propper way." But it is way more coplicated to record it right...
...With that RP80 the possibilities are limited and sound is not perfect, but what you hear in your headphones is exactly what you record. With good equipment one can get great results, but it is also easy to end up with quite poor sound. It is all proces of learning. And it is great fun. :-) Again, thanks for the support!
grat fun with the effect !
Congratulations
well done
Where did you get the backingtrack?
I honestly like this more than the official version.
Thanks! The backing track is from here: edgewannabe.net/recarchive/edibt.html
F-ing sweet!
Thanks!
I honestly like this more than the official version.
Thanks a lot! I have later uploaded a better version: ruclips.net/video/Yw9N7vlYPlg/видео.html
This cover is based on the live version.
Sounds great - especially since you created your own Funk Wah preset.
Great playing and sound... How do you rec your guitar: mic...software?
Thanks for your help!
grat fun with the effect !
Wow, I like this as much as Edge's original.
Thank you! This video was recorded without a mic - just the Digitech RP80 multieffect straight into the computer. Nowadays I use an amp (VOX AC15 C1) and a mic - SHURE SM57. Software is Cubase SE that came with my external soundcard (Lexicon labmda)
@u2adrian1000 Thank you!
Super, very entertaining
Thank you!
@thejonte1 I am sure he would be surprised, the question is - in what sense? :-) No, seriously, thank you for your kind words.
mint
fucking mind blowing amazing talent
Thank you :-)
great where did you find the backing track for this?
The backing track is from here: edgewannabe.net/recarchive/edibt.html
hey cheers mate, that's really helpful to me
+HappyStrat24 Can i use that for a cover.?
Yeap, you can :-)
🏆🎸🎼🎶🎵🕺🕺❤️✌️🏆
You inspired me to try to re-create the sound, using my new Fender Mustang GT 40 amp (a modelling amp)
- I read your comments about "Phaser" and "Wah" - and added BOTH to my custom-made preset :-)
If you want to view my very badly played take on the song, it's the most recent video on my channel (with today's date as the title...for now...)
Thank you! I have used this backing track here: edgewannabe(dot)net/recarchive/edibt(dot)html
Wow, I like this as much as Edge's original.
Thanks! :-)
No not yet. I will post one eventually though.
i have my preset made with my rp 500...i noticed that you are using flanger..well in the original song is an auto wah..
try this
amp 63 AC -30 TB cabinet british 2x 12
distortion on dod 250 gain 36 leve 75
compressor the edge use dyna comp low sensitivity and strong output Sens 8 output 70
noise gate threskhold 35 attack 0 atten 99
autowah FX 25 blend 22 sens 40 range 40
delay time 450 repeat 5 level 20
reverb hall pre delay 10 decay 40 level 35
Yeap, you are right. But my RP80 has really bad auto-wah, which is no way near the sound of MW. The flanger did much better job. I believe your RP500 has better effects, so it might work. But I have the KORG A2 now, which is the real thing and I have already made another cover: ruclips.net/video/Yw9N7vlYPlg/видео.html
