Hey guys! Made a mistake. Throw Back Galaxy is not a recreation of Tall Tall Mountain but its actually The Thwomp Fortress. Late night script writing mistake. Sorry guys! Thanks again!
It isn't. I really never got why anyone had trouble with it. If the rest of SMG2 is very easy, then the perfect Run is just easy. I mean there isn't really much that can hit you, since you can just shoot starbits at enemies like the octopuses to keep them from shooting you. The rest of it just needs you to think about you jumps more carefully.
Years before the start of the game's story, a prophetic book known as the Dark Prognosticus was written. Many sought to learn their futures from the book, and it was later sealed away as its dark secrets were not meant to be known.[citation needed] The book was stolen for unknown reasons by a group known as the Tribe of Darkness; they hid from the world and forbid marriage into other groups.[citation needed] A member of the tribe, Count Blumiere, fell in love with a human girl named Timpani, but Blumiere's father banished Timpani, wiping her memories and cursing her to wander between dimensions forever. Enraged, Blumiere murdered his father and the entire tribe, stealing the Dark Prognosticus for himself and renaming himself Count Bleck; Timpani would be found by the wizard Merlon, who saved her life by transforming her into the Pixl Tippi.[citation needed] To enact the book's prophecy of the end of all worlds, Bleck recruits four minions: Dimentio, Mimi, Nastasia, and O'Chunks. Bleck abducts Mario, Luigi, and Peach, along with Bowser and his army. He forces Bowser and Peach to marry, which unleashes the Chaos Heart and creates the Void. Mario is teleported to Flipside and is tasked by Merlon with collecting eight Pure Hearts, which are necessary to defeat Bleck and save all worlds. Peach is teleported from Castle Bleck to Flipside, where she joins Mario on his quest. At Castle Bleck, Luigi is captured and hypnotized into serving Bleck as “Mr. L”. Mario and Peach later encounter Bowser, who joins them. In Sammer's Kingdom, the heroes are unable to retrieve its Pure Heart before the world's destruction; they return to the ruined world to find that the Pure Heart has been drained of its power. Dimentio appears to kill Mr. L; in Flipside, he does the same to the heroes. In the Underwhere, where the "game-overed" reside, Mario finds Luigi and visits Queen Jaydes, who restores the Pure Heart and informs them their game was not actually over, returning them to Flipside. The two return to the Underwhere to find the final Pure Heart and are sent to the Overthere, where the good "game-overed" are sent; the two find Bowser and Peach, who rejoin the party. With all eight Pure Hearts, the heroes travel to Castle Bleck. Inside the castle, Bowser and O’Chunks are seemingly crushed, Peach and Mimi fall into a pit, and Dimentio appears to kill both himself and Luigi. Mario and Tippi confront Bleck alone; Tippi reveals herself to be Timpani, but Bleck refuses to end his plan. The other heroes return and defeat Bleck by using up the power of the Pure Hearts. Bleck, returning to his Blumiere identity, urges the heroes to kill him to destroy the Chaos Heart and avert the apocalypse; however, it is seized by Dimentio, who seemingly kills Nastasia and brainwashes Luigi into serving as the host of the Chaos Heart. Blumiere and Tippi are teleported away, and the remaining heroes appear overmatched without the power of the Pure Hearts; however, the love between Blumiere, O’Chunks, and Mimi restores their power. Dimentio is destroyed but leaves behind a shadow of his power to ensure the Chaos Heart can finish its task. Blumiere and Timpani return to the wedding altar and marry, which causes the destruction of the Chaos Heart and the restoration of the worlds that had been destroyed. The heroes, along with O’Chunks, Mimi, and a revived Nastasia, return to Flipside, but Blumiere and Timpani are nowhere to be found; O’Chunks, Mimi, and Nastasia pledge to create the perfect world Blumiere promised to make. In a post-credits scene, a man and a woman stand on a grassy hill. *mArIo gAmEs hAvE sHoRt pLoTS*
@@fugglepik2668 they do, and smp is no exceptions You simply used quotes that explain the story in a way that's longer thab necessary Count bleck wants to end the worlds with the book because he lost his love, and has four minions. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is easily my favorite game of all time. The reason is simple, it just does everything right. Grandiose atmosphere, solid tight controls, adventurous gameplay, gorgeous visuals, taking full advantage of the gravity mechanic, beautiful soundtrack, pays respect to the original in full, fanservice galore, atmospheric final level, excellent replay value. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is not just the perfect Mario game. It's my favorite video game of all time.
Honestly I was shocked by how much fun I had with this game. I played Sunshine obsessively growing up, I was enamored by Galaxy 1 and Odyssey is basically everything I ever wanted from a Mario game. But somehow none of them are quite as enjoyable as Super Mario Galaxy 2. I just looked at the list of Galaxies and there are so few levels in that game I don’t thoroughly enjoy. The power ups are without question the best set of power ups in the series and the level design is just ingenious. And the music, while slightly less epic, just feels more fun somehow and even more whimsical than the first game. And having a level each from Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy 1 as well as a Sunshine themed original level just makes me smile every time I play them. I don’t know for sure if it’s my favorite game, but it’s one of 4 games I think could hold that title (along with The Thousand Year Door, Hollow Knight and Minecraft).
@@darkeneddaylight5422 I think the main negativity is the lack of story compared to Galaxy1. Galaxy 2 is still my favorite Mario game of all time though.

+MarioMiner003 Its all about practice. Get some mental breaks if you are feeling frustated, and dont be sad if you die a lot. I 100%ed Super Mario Galaxy 2 two times, including beating The Perfect Run, but I suffered a lot to get through. Heck, I actually took a break from it the first time for OVER A YEAR. But at least now I can say I`ve beaten The Perfect Run twice, so that`s good. XD
The first one is my favorite game ever. It tugged at the nostalgia strings hard, had unbelievable music, phenomenal gameplay, level design, a semblance of a story for once, and was beautiful to look at(and has aged very well), and I had to wait five years to play it - and got to play it during a tough point in my life. Galaxy 2 has my favorite Mario level - Perfect Run lol
I'm so glad you didn't go on a rant about how bad the green star challenge is, like it seems pretty much everyone else on RUclips has. I've seen a ton of people who b*tch about how it's stupid and doesn't add anything to the game. Personally, I really enjoyed in. I thought the green star challenge was ingenious, a scavenger hunt, having you go through all those galaxies again, this time on the lookout for those emerald jewels. The game is fantastic, and definitely the best 3D Mario game, perhaps the best Mario game of all time.
Well, overall it is a good idea. But some of the green star locations are so simple and easy that it gets kind of ridiculous after a certain period of time. Not to mention the fact that the levels RESTARTS every time you get a green star. That doesn't mean that some of the green stars aren't really great, but you have to admit it's not perfect.
Yeah, I do like searching for the Green Stars honestly. And I like replaying all the the levels just cuz they're all so fun, especially if they add something new like a Prankster Comet or like I said - the Green Stars.

The Perfect Run! The one SMG2 star that still eludes me to this day... But *what* a game. The soundtrack, the throwbacks, Yoshi, the constant inventiveness... I love it to bits. Little, tiny bits. :D
I liked how player two is now a Luma, and how even after completing the game trying to beat your time on each level is an option. But the first Mario Galaxy game had a more involving storyline, and the levels felt a lot more like locations rather than obstacle courses.
Didn't the SMG1 showed that the universe got recreated at the end? Maybe it was reborn a bit younger than the before, so the second game happened shortly after. And all other continuity problems can be explained by bowser having the ability to control Space, and by consequence, even reality by some stretch
OMG at the end with the rating if you look in the shelf above the Mario shelf theirs a copy of the Mighty Moprhin Power Rangers The Movie NES game cartridge signed by the red ranger in the background
Sigh... the one and only time we will have an ironic yet seemingly fitting power up that turns luigi into his worst fear, ghosts. this is why I have named a few accounts of mine as ghost luigi. only in 2 (I think) levels can you ever find this occur. and even then most people don't go for it because it is such an odd thing that is for the most part unnecessary.
+PatrickJames233 When I was 9 or 10 I completed this game. I kind of wish I didn`t because it drove me insane as a kid and I`m a lot better at the game now.
It's been 9 years since its release and I still didn't know that the Prankster Comet in Grandmaster Galaxy was unlocked by giving Bank Toad 9999 star bits. I just happened to have given him the star bits because every thousand star bits he would change his outfit and dialogue and as a kid I found that amusing.
To be honest, Super Mario Galaxy 2 was my very first Super Mario game I've fully completed. My goddess it was crazy. But the last galaxy, the Grandmaster Galaxy Daredevil drove me nuts. It took me between 30-46 minutes to beat the final level and get the final power star. I felt very proud fully beating it, so freaking happy. Now I'm gonna hug my Mega Lucario pulshie and relax while watching let's plays in RUclips.
I prefer smg1 over smg2, I don't know why but it feels a bit more like super mario 64 (WHERE'S MY HD REMAKE NINTENDO!?!) PS: The Ghost Mushroom was in SMG1 it was not a new addition from SMG2
***** that's an opinion not a fact, I personally think that the whole having 4 characters who can do different things doesn't fit Super Mario 64. But some of the new worlds really do feel like they could have been part of the original, I give you that.
The super Mario galaxy series was one of the first series I 100%. Both games were an amazing journey when I was 8, and they still are fun to visit some of the game's areas, along with messing with some of the glitches. I love this game to death, and will be one of the most memorable, and favorite games of mine. The music, characters, story, and game play are all amazing and nostalgic to embrace again. And thanks Completionists for covering my favorite series of all time :,D
For some reason I could have sworn you had done a Super Mario Galaxy 2 video before, and then I realized that the review I was remembering was done by Somecallmejohnny. Guess that's what happens when you watch a ton of reviewers xD
No, not at all. I'm sick of people pissing and moaning when nintendo "just sticks to the same exact formula and never changes everything," but when they institute a new mechanic everyone always goes crying away
Btw for the story, the reason why a star festival happens is because at the end of Mario Galaxy 1, Rosalina reset the universe and said that every time the cycle repeats, but something always changes. This is that timeline, in it, Mario Galaxy 1 never happened. And this is the changes version of Mario’s journey. I hope it makes sense.
They dont ignore it they probably just either have plans for it outside of the collection or understand that it really was just DLC for the OG on a separate disk and doesnt need to be so highly revered
I like how he points out there could be an alternate universe thing happening, causing the festival to happen again, but ignoring that the universe was remade at the end of Galaxy 1
Motherdragon64 3D World is a fantastic game but i have to go for galaxy 2 becaus the memories. I had just played the first one and then i found that its seuqual had jus come out. But I cat blame you for thinking that way. =)
I liked the motion control levels. I really enjoyed the flying bird levels because it made me feel like I was literally in the game and the feeling that I was flying. I also enjoyed the star in the ball levels because it gave me a challenge. All in all, those levels are very nostalgic and reminded me of when I was just a little kid.
I would say that this Yoshi is much better than any of the other Mario games that have Yoshi in them. The reason why is because his flutter gives you more height. The others just make him go down and go the same position you just jumped at and then hold the jump button. Or maybe lower, like Yoshi's island. Furry
+Caleb Arndt I've completed the game 100% a long time ago too and I too got my ass handed to me by The Perfect Run...until I figured out how to cheat the system in one of the areas of said run to avoid the obstacles in there altogether. ;)
General Snivy in the pull star section you shake the wii remote to drop beneath the lasers and pull yourself to a later pull star. I discovered that by accident ;)
Hey, Could you make a alternate channel where you record episodes of the game while you complete it but upload the episodes after The Completionist episode came out on the That One Video Gamer channel, So maybe? Thanks!
Jirard, you're awesome. Your videos are the highlight of my Friday. I have a suggestion for you, a game that is a little unorthodox but very awesome. "100 Classic Books" for the Nintendo DS. It's a game that has, well, 100 classic books on it including my favorite book of all time, "Frankenstein." What I find really enjoyable about it is that it's all the parts I liked about reading books for high school many years ago, without any of the pressure. If anything, it has helped me prepare for university-level exams by being a virtual study guide. The only problem I foresee is that it might take a long time to complete, but I think you're up to the task! At the very least, you can say you've read as many books as any English major. Have a good one, man.

Bruh every time Luna is on screen with the faint sound of Biggie Smalls in the background I lose my shit 😂
I HATE that this was omitted from the 3D All Stars Collection!!
I understand why but I am a galaxy one guy and yoshi sounds annoying more and more
@@Omelander I love my boy Yoshi but I must agree. His voice when fluttering can get tedious
@@skimbeeble8115 I love his voice though in 64 ds because it is all compressed
OMG at the end with the rating if you look in the shelf above the Mario shelf theirs a copy of the Mighty Moprhin Power Rangers The Movie NES game cartridge signed by the red ranger in the background
YOUR RIGHT and you meant snes not nes
+the dark force ya sorry misspelled

Hey guys, look!
The game that's NOT in 3D All Stars!
I've found Galaxy 2 easier than Galaxy, but I like the original better.
Same.
***** I nearly got it all, but I still had like 40 stars left :P
+Brendan Risney But the thing i hate the most about this game was the really lazy final boss!
I liked the first one better too. The levels in 2 just didn't have that space atmosphere and Yoshi (a huge selling point of the game) was ASS.
I def found Galaxy 2 way better
this is one of my favorite games to revisit time and time again
Love the Dax and Worf picture in the background! DS9 is my favorite show of all time.
so how many lives did you spend on the perfect run?
good question
+Alex Ninten less then the souls lost in blackfriday
How many breads have you eaten in your life?
+The welsh Yoshi DIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
+The welsh Yoshi *chew*
Sigh... the one and only time we will have an ironic yet seemingly fitting power up that turns luigi into his worst fear, ghosts. this is why I have named a few accounts of mine as ghost luigi. only in 2 (I think) levels can you ever find this occur. and even then most people don't go for it because it is such an odd thing that is for the most part unnecessary.
to this day i have yet to acquire star number 242
I still need to get that last note in treasure trove cove...
+PatrickJames233 When I was 9 or 10 I completed this game. I kind of wish I didn`t because it drove me insane as a kid and I`m a lot better at the game now.
I still need to get the last two shine sprites in Super Mario Sunshine.... but mY DISC GOT BROKEN FOR THE FIFTH TIME WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Me too
Took me five years of which I took four years off lol
THIS IS MY #1 FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME
Like this if you like Super Mario Galaxy 2
GreenStone Man very very true
same
I used to have a wii and this game
I miss it o much
go play it on an emulator, the way it was always meant to be played :)
Personally I prefer the original, but still, 2 is fantastic
I’m just 1 star away from completing it..... I hated the bird but liked the rolling balls. I am all alone.
Derek Pulley the bird sucks but I find that the ball is controllable enough and the levels are easy
I loved the ball parts. Motion controls were perfect for those
Playstation symbols? Those symbols were in Super Mario World BEFORE Playstation used them!
max2dgam1ng your comment makes no sense at all
pixelgamer in super Mario world the wizard shoots PlayStation symbols from his rod... way before the PlayStation even came out....
ooh okay my mistake
Who cares they were in geometry way before Super Mario 'as they're fucking shapes lol' Playstation just made them popular.
Technically, those symbols were in *4 million years ago in cave drawings* playstation just made then popular
GREEN STARS! GREEN STARS! GREEN STARS! Watching the speedruns of it is bloody amazing.
This was the first game I ever owned. The nostalgia hit me right in the feels
RIP Galaxy 2
I prefer smg1 over smg2, I don't know why but it feels a bit more like super mario 64 (WHERE'S MY HD REMAKE NINTENDO!?!)
PS: The Ghost Mushroom was in SMG1 it was not a new addition from SMG2
*shoves DS remake in face
eoiny 224 I said HD, also Super Mario 64 DS isn't really the same game...
Yeah I agree I just thought I'd make a joke
***** that's an opinion not a fact, I personally think that the whole having 4 characters who can do different things doesn't fit Super Mario 64. But some of the new worlds really do feel like they could have been part of the original, I give you that.
There kinda was a sm64 hd remake, sm64 ds
Anyone else notice he called “whomps fortress” tall tall mountain? That’s an oopsy if I’ve seen one.
Loving the Biggie reference especially the music every time the purple star appears.
For some reason I could have sworn you had done a Super Mario Galaxy 2 video before, and then I realized that the review I was remembering was done by Somecallmejohnny. Guess that's what happens when you watch a ton of reviewers xD
(At the end of the video, the plush Luma in the background now has a [probably stolen] mario hat)
I see what you did there, Jerard.
Wait..... there's galaxies in worlds, not the other way around...... isn't that kinda weird??
Well at least it's not Rosalina in smash, shitting out galaxies and shooting them out of her hand.
Yes it is
I should have known Super Mario Galaxy 2 would be Jerard's favorite Mario game, it's a completionist's dream come true
7:52 I was enjoying the video and then the DJ Scratch sound started playing in my brain
But beard man!?! What about 3D world!?!
+Sarah Ferguson e Already did That
You must mean 3D land
+Sarah Ferguson BEARS BEAR TEARS
:/ to linear
:/ I think you mean Land
Playing an exact recreation of TALL TALL MOUNTAIN????
I like how he says “Butt slam” instead of “Ground pound”
I loved this game and this video! I had no idea there was so much to unlock!! I'm playing tonight!
This series is the series of my 2 favorite games of all time.
is it bad that I actually enjoy the wii-mote moving levels the most?
Everybody has their quirks but I will be raising an eyebrow there...
+TheOldestBro They weren't my favorite, but I liked them a lot. I definitely wouldn't have minded more of them.
No, not at all. I'm sick of people pissing and moaning when nintendo "just sticks to the same exact formula and never changes everything," but when they institute a new mechanic everyone always goes crying away
I actually really liked the motion controls too, especially the bird levels
Super mario galaxy one is so much better than two.
Disagreeable
Biggie there
Air Nike
Poppa's been smooth
since the days of underoos
Btw for the story, the reason why a star festival happens is because at the end of Mario Galaxy 1, Rosalina reset the universe and said that every time the cycle repeats, but something always changes. This is that timeline, in it, Mario Galaxy 1 never happened. And this is the changes version of Mario’s journey. I hope it makes sense.
The yoshi in the thumbnail is my spirit animal
#Galaxy2AsFreeUpdate3DAllStars
"Is this some sort of Alternate Universe thing?" According to Game Theory, Yes. Yes it is.
So sad Nintendo ignores smg2
They dont ignore it they probably just either have plans for it outside of the collection or understand that it really was just DLC for the OG on a separate disk and doesnt need to be so highly revered
I like how he points out there could be an alternate universe thing happening, causing the festival to happen again, but ignoring that the universe was remade at the end of Galaxy 1
15:32 If you ever manage to not get hit in one of those parts you are a fking master :)
Im totaly with you on that it is the best 3d mario game.
Yup
+Disco Mannen It is.
Am I really the only one who preferred 3D World?
Motherdragon64 I loved 3D World but I liked the Galaxies better by a little bit.
Motherdragon64 3D World is a fantastic game but i have to go for galaxy 2 becaus the memories. I had just played the first one and then i found that its seuqual had jus come out. But I cat blame you for thinking that way. =)
Hey Jirard I Have a Question. How Do You Stay Organized And Do You Have Any Tips?
Boo mushroom was in the first Mario Galaxy
I've beaten this game since its release. I don't think I ever completed any games until Galaxy 1 and 2. What a treat that was.
I actually really like those birb levels, I thought it was easy to control and were fun.
But beard man what about Mario 64
Already did it, I think episode 66 or 65
+Jake Stewart Its aged very poorly and some of the levels are really not fun
What about 3-D Land
I want Jirard to do three games.
Earthbound, Undertale, and Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.
Earthbound (and Mother 3 too!) got episodes some time ago.
He did EarthBound a while ago, but he needs to play EarthBound Beginnings
+MrNukerguy Undertale is currently being played on Beard Bros, they mentioned how they may do a completionist on it
Awesome!
Furry
Klondike Snowy it feels natural in two. In yoshis island it feels slippery and the flutter feels weird
can u do mini ninjas? PLEASE?
+יואב דנינו Hey, I remember that. I had it a long time ago, and it was pretty cool. I third this.
YES!!!!
I 100%ed this game before jirard did! Yay! But srsly screw the perfect run...
+Caleb Arndt Good for you...?
still can't get the 242 star
To be fair, I had my brother stun some hammer bros in the last segment, so it wasn't entirely legit...
Thanks!
Yep!
Mario Galaxy is truly a dream. Always loved this magical game.
Have a good one, man.
boo mario was in the first game...
Whats the name of the Biggie song? Anyone?
+AHeroAlmost Hypnotize - Notorious B.I.G.
+AHeroAlmost Hypnotize
+Tatianna Hunt hell yeah
Damn, for real? It's like THE Biggie song.
Haven't seen the video yet, but its probably Juicy or Big Poppa
Try Dragonabll Xenoverse?
7:43 -That’s not Tall Tall Mountain, Throwback Galaxy is a Super Mario Galaxy remake of Whoomp’s Fortress from “Super Mario 64”.
I now have 240 stars. Thank you Jirard for the inspiration.
