    Thank you, relieved my mind. I've always said leachate was good. My question why dilute the leachate? Why not use it neat to activate?

      We dilute and then activate with this process.

      So technically its actually stronger and not diluted.

    My compost heaps have loads of worms within. I am not quite sure what the point is, for me to start a worm farm. Is there any advantage in having two separate operations going?

      Great question. There are two main types of worms that we are interested in.
      Composting worms and earthworms.
      Composting worms cannot live in soil.
      You will find that unless you seeded your compost heap with composting worms/red wrigglers then the worms in your compost heap will be actual earthworms.
      Having a separate worm farm with composting worms will give you vermicompost and leachate that can be used separately.

      Thank you, Sean. A nice, clear reply - which leads on to further questions. I shall be doing more Googling. 👍

    How do i get the worms out to use the vermicast and start again?

    • @LivingseedsFarm
      @LivingseedsFarm  Год назад

      We use a slotted basket, we fill the basket with fresh food, the worms go for the food and we lift them out and add them to the new pile.
      Rinse and repeat for as long as you think is necessary... you will never get all of them.

    Hi, how do you harvest your vermicompost?

      We sink a slotted basket into the heap and fill that with fresh food. The worms go into the fresh food and we just lift the whole basket and add to a new pile. Repeat this a number of times and you get most of the worms out, you never get all of them out.

      It can, but some fine wire mesh sorts the issues out.
