  • Wolves are intelligent, adaptable and successful animals. They first appeared in Eurasia about one million years ago. How have they survived for so long? Are there extinct wolf species? When were wolves domesticated? Find out from Danielle Fraser, Ph.D., palaeobiologist at the Canadian Museum of Nature.
This Science-Moment video is a complement to the museum’s exhibition Wolves! Shape-shifters in a Changing World.

But dire wolves were not wolves, why are they listed as extinct species of wolves? Missed opportunity to speak about the cave/steppe wolf.

The end-Pleistocene exticntion happened at different times on different continents, and even in North America it took place over thousands of years (between 12000 and 8000 years ago).
