This is a part of tybw I really liked. Making the new villain responsible for one of the most tragic events in ichigo’s life was narrative genius. It makes everything come full circle in a really cool way.
It also gave Ichigo a personal motivation to fight Juha Bach. Similarly how Aizen wanted to destroy Karakura Town which gave Ichigo a personal motivation to fight him.
but i think removing her powers this very moment was an accident
@@Zarkon619 From the autor or Ywach? Because Ywach doesnt care what happens with the Quincy at that moment.
Yes, Yhwach wasn’t trying to kill Masaki or anything, it was a coincidence. But he still selfishly steals the powers of his people for his own destructive goals.
@@KennyMatthewsMonster I mean....it IS his power. He is "just" taking it back. Its hillarious if you think about this whole thing a bit more.
Ichigo got his epic hybrid power from his parents, but he also got something arguably more priceless: his heroic drive. The fact that they saved each other's lives both in battle and off via Isshin not reporting her makes their eventual romance all the more meaningful. The relationship between both really changed things and they had true happiness for their time.
Very true, without his drive to protect, Ichigo's raw talent would be rather worthless.
When Ishin said “Masaki was like the sun.. she attracted everything, forgave everything, illuminated everything, and spun everything around” , was freaking beautiful! Man… Kubo is really blessing us up! 🫡😭
I love how you could tell that Isshin and Masaki made a great couple, not just because they were really good people, but also because they were total dorks.
Who's the bigger dork though?
I forgot the word dork even existed.
Soken seems like the type who realized later in life that he wasn't a good father/husband and tried to make up for it with his grandson.
Yea i definitely see that, you tend to realize ur regrets as you age
That's how I read it too.
That’s pretty spot on for how a lot of grandparents are with their grandchildren. They neglect their own children to insane degrees, so they try to make up for it by doting on their children’s children instead of properly making amends
Right when I saw Komamura I knew that you’d pick up on it right away. It was the first thing I noticed.
I loved everything here in the episode. The only little nitpicking I’d say I have is the little chibi panel where isshin says he’s “happy to be in her orbit” and you just see him spinning around her in space 😂 it would always make me tear up a bit cause it was just so sweet and sad and romantic 🥰 and it makes me feel nostalgic. But I’m still very happy with the anime visuals with the sun behind Masaki. It made me cry a bit and it was just so amazing. These episodes were just amazing and I can’t wait for the next cour 😂🤩🤩💃💃💃
Just a small detail but at 15:55 the picture on ryukens desk was changed from one of just kanae to one of kanae and uryu together...its amazing how the anime can make such a small change but it still feels like an emotional gut-punch when they show it right after he finds the book uryus left behind - and it's the only time uryu and his mother have been shown together (not counting that one off scene from the bount arc yeeears before EBTR since it's technically non-canonical)
11:28 - I thought it was fucking fantastic that him saving her (stopping an attack with sword on back) was the same shot as when Ichigo saves rukia from execution. It legit gave me chills
Indeed, generation Xerox. Saviors of the highest order especially of the innocent, persecuted and those who protect others. Ichigo more than earned his role as a rescuer from his parents.
I found it pretty cool that when Isshin used Getsuga to attack the hollow while protecting Masaki it looked like a sun after it hit and later on in the episode Isshin states "Masaki was like the sun" really ties that up neatly and goes well with the volume 60 poem we got at the end of episodes 10 & 11. Awesome to see such a great use of symbolism
ep.12 and 13 came out together on Hulu here in the US.
Hey everyone - I hope you all had an amazing Christmas! Thanks for your patience and bearing with me through the holiday period as this was recorded on Boxing Day - up next is Episode 13, coming soon! What did you think of episode 12 of TYBW? What was your favourite moment? Let me know!
My favorite part was probably seeing ishin saving masaki in her own soul from white. What was your favorite moment?
This cour was sensational. And for the first time since I got out of high school, I’m very hyped for summer.
Hulu put out both episodes on the same day

I still can't believe how quickly the 1st 12 weeks of tybw had came and went. It's gonna be a long spring for me lol
I love the look on Kisuke and Isshins faces when Masaki is dreaming(?) And blushing about Isshin.
i never realised how much foreshadowing there was, kubo is a genius
Komamura in the captains’ meeting has to be an animation error with the time skip armor and him not covering his face
They corrected it in the bluray release
I thought the bit where White explodes was because of a failsafe Sosuke Aizen placed inside of it to prevent anyone finding evidence of his experiments. Earlier in the show it shows vats with fleshy blobs that look like the one in White's chest, plus with Aizen being a genius mastermind it's very in character for him to cover his tracks.
It also seemed like a way to hide the hollow portion from detection until it did something specific. Covering the hole with flesh. You are right about the self destruct failsafe, too.
I think the song they used for the scene with Ryuken and Katagiri was "Never meant to belong". Which was a great choice.
I'll never get tired of Patrick Seitz. He's such a good voice actor.
I love how Kubo is able to blend all sorts of genres together in a holistic story. EBTR is some of his best writing. Short, sweet and packs a punch both literally and emotionally. I actually kind of like it better than the main storyline.
ebtr might be my favorite part of bleach, it elegantly ties up so many loose ends in one fell swoop but if you had no context it would still be a powerful tragic romance story.
Totally agree with this
So it’s shown that Masaki still lived with the Ishidas until she graduated high school. That must have been some awkward months/years…
That part where Isshin and Masaki dating, eating and smiling together is so wholesome asdfghjkl
getsuga tenshao is the only technique White ever saw so thats why its the only technique Ichigo knows.. also its seems to be just a technique of the shiba family and not an actual move
I kind of don't like how Masaki died. The fact that Yhwach is directly responsible for both Masaki and Katagiri's deaths feels a little bit like double dipping on the emotional baggage of it, not to mention the timing of it is kind of ridiculous. I'd have honestly preferred Masaki either not having access to her Quincy powers at all because she had been hosting White (or is White in Ichigo at this point in the story?), or to have Auswählen happen earlier and rob Masaki of her Quincy powers without killing her or something. It just feels weird that the timing of the event is so precise.
Funny how in the next episode Komamura is scolded by the elder for having hidden his face in the past, and yet the animators make this mistake in this episode 😅 Hopefully corrected in blurays or updated online.
Anime-only scene where Komamura shows the elder this episode and he goes "well shit, I guess you weren't really hiding it that whole time, it was just a fashion choice."
The “Opposites attract” aspect of this shit is soooo great man this is A1 writing!!!!!
The only live reaction i watch ^^ best bleach content creator for me ❤️Road to 200K🔥
One of the reactions I looked the most forward to!
thank you mrTommo for all your hard work throughout this year ..
and for believing for all those years that we will one day get the closure we all deserved ..
i'm glad that the anime turned out to be so beautiful and i think it's a worthy adaptation of the manga ..
because bleach is indeed among the greats ..
king of shonen naruto ..
and the legendary one piece ..
and today before our eyes here comes bleach ..
that made me really happy and can't wait for the next part 🔥
You are the one of the best youtubers. The passion and knowledge base is amazing and much appreciated! Keep up the great work. I've been a subscriber since waaaaaaay back and I'll keep supporting.
I now understand why Isshin didn't blame Grand Fisher for Masaki's death.
Grand Fisher was just being a Hollow, and normally he would have been killed instead.
Yhwach was just being a dick, and he screwed up two families that came back for revenge.
I honestly can't wait for your colab with Tekking101.. As a fan of both of you it's very exciting :)
I'm so glad for these videos and I'm glad I'm getting more up to July and the future
The only thing I missed about the second half of everything but the rain is the chibi scene where masaki is standing in a solar system and isshin is floating around masaki like a planet. Otherwise both parts of this arc were amazing and I loved the visuals and feel throughout the arc
Thanks for the continued content! Happy 600th video
I love your videos man. Probably my favorite youtuber rn fr keep up the awesome work I hope you had a great Christmas and I hope you have a happy new year
Tommo back with a banger
Thanks for always putting out
Wonderful content
@MrTommo2304 Aww I agree with you, the OSTs are so nostalgic! 🥹 When Urahara’s explaining about hollowfication to Isshin and Ryuken, it’s “Nightmare” playing and when Ryuken’s out walking in the rain and saw Katagiri, they played “Never Meant to Belong”.. 🥹 the nostalgia hit me right in the feels! 🥹
FINALLY IVE BEEN WAITING ALL DAYYYYYYYYY
Have been watching you since about November of last year once I finished reading the Bleach manga in preparation for the anime. Always looked forward to your reactions knowing how deeply you care for the source material and really enjoy seeing how you instantly pick up on cut or additional content. Really goes to show how devoted you are to this series when you can nearly drop any chapter and page/panel and analyze it perfectly. Sucks that the next cour is so far away but they’re giving us hope for the next cour to be even better than this so I’ll be patient. Can’t wait to see the reviews again next July and let’s hope Bleach’s weekly perfection stays perfect.
yeas finally ur reaction video drop, been waiting from monday and yeah see another reaction next 7 months i hope we survive until the end of this journey
It was all beautiful. We waited a long time but, man, it was incredible.
I always saw that Masaki's powers failing her not that Yhwach reclaimed that at same time but rather, the next time she used them they would shut off. SO if she didnt use her powers, she would technically still have them.
Masaki would've lost her powers whether she was using them or not. It was unavoidable
auswhalen takes your powers regardless if you use them or not
That's not how the Ashwhalen works. Whether she used them or not she was losing them regardless
It's cool how the gigai ties into the story later. He developed this thing in order to seal the Hogyoku away.
What we see here might even be a prototype version.
Oh shit you're right, I never connected the fact that they're both "turn you into a human" Gigai.
Wonder what Isshin's reaction was when he got his shinigami powers back. Cause that had to have been a shock seeing as how Urahara told him that he would basically told him he'd never get to use them again
There it is!!!
I was checking Twitter wondering if you were okay, Tommo
Covered everything with Ichigo, But still no explanation to how Rangiku & captain Hitsugaya were living in Ichigo house during the arrancar invasions and didn't notice ichigo dad
Love this episode!
"Never Meant To Belong" remixed
I got book 60 before this and I read it on Christmas Day so it was fresh in my head.
Your videos butter my biscuits thank you
Since you tend to bring it up a few times, Glad you picked isshin for the thumbnail I think Misaki was the last one
Holy shit, I've never been this early but I love getting this kind of lore from Bleach, not only does it pertain to the main story you're able to learn things about the world that you otherwise wouldn't see during the main story.
Cant wait for your appearance on bankast next week 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
I'm so happy for my first and favorite anime
Mrtommo any chance you gonna do cour 2 predictions video on what scene may get extended?
Pretty funny how the extra page at the end of 535 has urahara basically saying he did all the talking in that last chapter haha
I've been binge watching your videos for a while now and have read a little bit of the manga and watched the whole anime. Where is the best place to read it in colour?
With the rate at which they're going through the episodes and chapters. Me and a friend had an interesting conversation. If we get a new season every 6-7 months, we'll finish part 4 sometime in end of summer 2024. There is a chance we might see TWBW end with episode 12, and what we'll get for episode 13 of part 4 is the Hell Arc animated, and the reveal that the hell arc is going to be starting in publication.
It would be interesting if they did spirits are forever with you and can't fear your own world also. Seeing as how those are basically looked at as canon to a lot of people
Isshin definitely got that Rizz. Had Misaki wanting more of him after one interaction. Also, damn. Ryuken losing Misaki really changed his character because he's cold compared to how he was in the past
the idea of "ethically sourced" human souls gave me a chuckle xD
Kubo confirmed in Klub Outside that Isshin's Getsuga Tensho is a fire energy blast
is it safe to assume that the reason ichigo knows getsuga tenshou is because isshin used it on the hollow and that’s how white learned it and now ichigos uses it?
It could be a Shiba clan technique. They are essentially a branch of a royal family in seretei after all so it might just be hereditary.
I wished the actual dove deep into the soken being part of the wandenreich I noticed the Quincy that gremmy created that was fighting yachiru was gremmy remembering soken . Soken may have been gremmy mentor or only friend and gremmy created a Quincy a disfigured version of his only / mentor that would of been a Great way to show why soken was such a absentee father, and it gives ishida a deeper connection to the current wandenreich. It would also work from opie saying his arrows shouldn't be stronger than ishidas because he was either trained by soken or he seen him in action
Was the poem at the end old man Zangetsu?
Why doesn't Ichigo's sisters possess the same latent abilities as Ichigo?
I'd guess it's because since ichigo was the first born then he got all of the "you are every single race all in one" bits and they didn't. So only Karin got the ability to see spirits and Yuzu got skipped over
@@darknesswave100 I like to argue in something. It's a bit complicated on my theory but it relate somewhat to Auswahlen.
I will always love Isshin being such a huge wife guy
Thank Mr. Tommo for your videos :) Still I wish all of us Bleach fans could talk together in person instead of through text :). Even though I can't go anywhere. Nor do I have a headset mic thing.
Episode 13 is already on Hulu
had the clinic always been called "Kurosaki Clinic"? did Masaki let Isshin borrow her last name?
That's one of the plot hole, I realize in this, episode.
I imagine they put Komamura in his current get up for more casual fans. Not saying it’s good that they did that but it’s just an explanation. 🤷🏾♂️
A question popped into my head while watching this which is are the sternritters pure blood quincies?
Hulu dropped both episodes at the same time. Weird
When will you review episode 13? It's out long ago
There is one thing that bugged me at 6.19 in the episode. Does anyone know what the deal with Ryuken's mothers leg is ? It looked burnt or something like that. Might it be important to the lore ? Was she suffering from sickness or something else ? Is that why she is never mentioned again outside of this flashback ? Because what caused this injury caused her to die ?
That was from a hollow attack that may have caused her to become an impure quincy, hence, was affected by Auswahlen.
It's implied she suffered a hollow wound and became tainted, hence why Ryuken was the only child they had and she fights so hard for him to carry on the legacy
@@1OaKind Thanks a lot
@@1OaKind yes i’m surprised that this wasn’t talked more. the scar on her leg reminds me of orihime’s wound from her brother’s hollow
I haven’t watched it yet. How censored are the Masaki scenes?
Urahara's approach to ethics seems to be it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission, so he definitely harvested some Plus/Whole against their will and apologized for it in some meaningless way.
Also, I always thought Everything but the Rain was the more interesting flashback for what little we got about the Ishida family and the Quincies of the Human World. Hollowfication is comparatively well-understood.
EDIT: Was a bit bummed about the loss of Masaki Booba, not just for that, but because we missed a nice dynamic-defining conversation.
Masaki and Isshin's love story is better than Minato and Kushina. It was the woman who saved the man on her own will. Both her and Isshin disobeyed clear orders.
Don t get those mixed up.
They are unic.
Minato and Kushina relationship is different but special, so it s with these two
Sure, but writing a better romance than Masashi "writes like he's never spoken to a woman in his life" Kishimoto is not a high bar to clear.
Considering Kishimoto couldn't find his way out of a paper bag with a road map and a straight line when it comes to writing female characters you're not setting the bar up very high for something to surpass it
Never been this early
You know, I completely forgot about Komamura's Gucci bucket
Episode 13 is already out on hulu
I heard or read from somewhere that in Japanese culture being nude is a sign of purity. Maybe that helps with some context for the scene.
I'm not really big on romance myself but I really liked seeing isshin and Misaki becoming a couple even if very brief
I love how happy you got when you thought they were gonna cut Ishida's introduction as a villain....
But they're not, sorry Tommo!
See you in the next reaction.
The blade is me is out already though?
Okay your title got me confuse. Like, grand fisher did It what do you mean? Took me a few minutes to figured out you ment ywach
Pretty sure that Kisuke was using a dead human soul or an artificial one.
Man, Disney+ really does love dropping the ball doesn't it? Hulu dropped both episodes simultaneously.
I was curious what you thought about that giant hollow that just shows up as Ryuken is carrying Masaki. Is this one brought by Aizen or just a random?
Feels like a random one imo. Aizen did say he wanted to see what would happen next when it came to Masaki. Sending a hollow to kill her would go against that
So my question bugging me is how much does old man yama know of ichigo and his backstory? Obviously ishin hid his meeting of masaki, but did he ever learn some details if any about ichigo and his parents?
*Ichigo is the Soul King*
*The whole Bleach Saga will eventually make the Soul King* the one we know, after Ichigo and others flow thru a Seinkaimon, which can travel into the past and are wild phenomena.
Somehow he and others are their own descendants. Chika Shihoin maybe Yoruichi and Uraharas son, it also explains why Captain General Yamamoto and Ukitake gave him such leinency, as Ichigo opened a gate to hell and no one punished him. Why they saved certain members. It's too much of a coincidence that it rains when Ichigo has a bad time and on Masalkis rememberence day, Death and after White. It's all there. The Soul King is an Amnesiac Ichigo being trained to sacrifice himself
I think I know how you meant that, but now that I know what Ichibe originally intended for Ichigo, calling Ichigo (or anyone else, for that matter) the Soul King will always have an extremely dark connotation for me.
@@samoanjoseph1457 hes the original, some seinkaimon gates can travel in time and space what if Ichigo went thru one and white is the First Hollow that same Hollow the soul King made the sands of Hueco Mundo with was actually white seperated from Ichigo after arriving with Black hair as when he battled Aizen.
Ichigo and white were separated leaving the other beings that he will give birth too. It would explain why Ukitake was Chosen, how Unohana made up Kenpachi and why, What if we have been watching the creation of the Soul King from day one... It would explain much.
Maamnnnn, this was sooo good
But whyyy do they gotta keep cutting stuff 😩😩
I swear i watched both episodes and i did not see the part where Masaki died from her power being taken.
You wanna stick around for the post credits
It was a post credit scene. It's like a marvel movie. Gotta stick around till the end
A lot of the Masaki fans want Yhwach dead after what he did by taking her powers from her, leaving her powerless and for the Grand Fisher to get the kill on her. I give props to Kubo for portraying Yhwach’s character as a villain. I knew that Yhwach is the kind of character who you love to hate, but at the same time you can’t help but love his ruthlessness when it comes to him using the Auswahlen.
I said the same exact thing when I seen Komomura 😒
Where is episode 13?
Wait I just realized something. If Ichigo's mom was a Quincy and she died to grand Fisher or whatever his name was, she GONE gone isn't she?
In the manga I never noticed the scar on ryuken's mother leg. I was wondering why they focused on that shot
FINALLY MUAHAHAHW lmao
im confused. Did i miss an episode
Doesnt that mean he is 1/2 Soul Reaper and 1/4 Quincy and hollow?
Eh the numbers get a bit sketchy. Masaki was a pureblood Quincy so it's more like he's 33% of each one. Shinigami Quincy and Hollow. Or maybe it's like 40 40 and 20
