- Hello and welcome to Saabkyle04! RUclips's largest collection of automotive variety! In today's video, we'll take an up close and personal, in depth look at the 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada SmartTrack, last year of this particular generation. This generation, essentially being a redo of the GMC Jimmy, stands out less than it's successor which debuted in 2002. While, essentially it was a Jummy and Blazer rebadge, oldsmobile put some of it's unique touches in it including unique interior trim, leather, standard AWD, unique gauges, bose audio system and more. The exterior is also more flush and clean looking rather than it's siblings with it's sparse use of chrome and more utilization of the monochrome body styling. During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership yourself! Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHANNEL SEE BELOW: In this channel you will find in depth reviews/tour of automobiles from all over the world, presented in a more detailed fashion than ever before. Basically, this gives the viewer the chance to view the most detailed 1st person look you can get without going to an actual dealer yourself! Every video is consistent in the way I present so viewers know what to expect in my presentations. I treat every vehicle with the same respect whether a 1960 Chevrolet Impala SS or the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador. I film all types of vehicles from past, present, and future while broadening the knowledge of the automotive enthusiast. You will see everything from vintage, brand new, exotic, mainstream, old, etc. I am very proud of this channel and have built it up from amateur videos years ago to what you see today. I wanted to share my love for the automotive world with the rest of the world. Be sure to explore the massive video variety, have fun and enjoy The Driver's Seat of RUclips!

Someone definitely loved and cared for that Olds. Wouldn't mind having it in my driveway.
Stacy Holt IKR?!! If only Oldsmobile (as well as Pontiac, Saturn and Saab) could still be around these days. Some of the best 2000’s cars in my opinion were from Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Saturn, Saab and Mercury. Yes, I know Mercury belonged to Ford and the rest of this list belonged to General Motors. But I think Mercury, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Saturn and Saab were good manufacturers.
@@MasterJim2020 With How Garbage New Gm Cars Are Today, It's Probably Better That Those Brands Are Gone So You Don't Got A Junk 2024 Pontiac In The Junkyard
This is one of the most underrated SUVs I can think of
Nerf50Cal
It really is. Oldsmobile was totally underrated. Very good looking cars. RIP Olds
Old skool bravada
Yea but it was very unsafe
In my opinion the Pontiac Aztek is just as underrated
I miss Oldsmobile, I wish GM wouldn't have discontinued them. Great video as always Kyle!
Why? Every car they had could be found at otters divisions. It isn't 1949 anymore!
@@danr1920 Oldsmobile was put into a unfavorable position. GM wanted the brand to be sporty like Pontiac and a little luxurious like Buick. The designers had no idea how to properly translate that which resulted in bland and weird styling featured on most of their lineup.
My mom drove one of these for my entire childhood life (until high school). Pretty solid mom-mobile to be fair.
Everybody forgets about the 98-01 GMC Envoy, Its the top of the line model, its got chrome door handles, two tone leather and real wood accents, not like the plastic in the Bravadas, the Envoy even has a power inflator built in in the rear air shocks. It has a lot more features then the Bravadas. The model line up is GMC Jimmy,Chevy Blazer,Olds Bravada,Gmy Envoy.
I don't forget about it lol. ALso had had 6 disc CD changer just underneath the climate controls vs the console. Working for GM had one for a company vehicle for two years. 1999 model year. Grey with the grey interior. When GM introduced the next gen in 2002 the Envoy was just downgraded to a model line though and no more Jimmy. Owned a 2002 Envoy SLT. Have to say the quality was terrible. Many issues.
I like these vehicles more! Terrific job bro.
I had the Blazer LT version of this. The transmission went out, the engine spun a bearing, two water pumps, the seat switch panel would follow you out the vehicle, and finally an alternator. It was the last GM I ever purchased. It had the same weak engine with terrible gas mileage.
tell me about i own the "trailblazer" trim of the blazer man its a pain in the ass I've owned it for a year so far, next year i will be selling it
Total agreement Jared, Rick James about had to do something bad, too many folks I know with over 250,00 miles on these engines and transmissions and still driving. Our 96 S-10 with over 240K just made a trip to Texas from Indiana. But people like Mr. James won't be happy with ANY make of vehicle I'm sure.
Huh funny, mine has 215,000 miles and runs just fine... maybe you abused it... that's what happens to cars when you abuse the engine....
My uncle owns a 1998 Blazer LT similar to this, he just turned 80 and he bought it new. He's got 178,000 on the 4.3L and he just loves it. It's been very reliable with minimal work.
Great video, and clean Bravada! I have a 98 Olds Bravada and I absolutely love it, 132k miles and not a single issue with it. Mine has seen better days too, but put that key in and turn it, she'll never disappoint except for fuel economy :P
I used to traffic weed and cocaine with one of these from Chicago to new Jersey brings back memories these suvs can sure carry lots of cocaine
Hahahahahah! Made my day!
@@marcelloribeiro2750 same :)
Tupac Shakur maybe I got your old one for sale.
lmaooo
Soy Cocainos
I didn’t hear him say this but the bravada has automatic headlights. Mine does atleast just leave it in the down position and they turn on automatically
Robert Gardner most gm luxury cars and trucks come equipped with twilight Sentinel which is a smart activation system for the daytime and drive lights, so being it’s a Oldsmobile it’s quite possible
I miss this old's videos and startup , from 2011 susciper :)
I love the Blazer Bravada and Jimmy
I've wanted one of these for years I love them sooooo much
My dad has a 97 Jimmy and it looks like this a lot. I like this better though, much nicer with a sunroof, but this is a 2001. Thanks Kyle for doing this! I remember asking you to do a jimmy, but you said you were putting this up on the channel. Thank you so much! I love how you do as many requests as possible, this fulfills mine!
Who else came here from RegularCars?
I love my bravada, it needs new cv joints in it, and there are a few things messed up with the AWD one of which can be solved by a fluid change. But the seats do lay back flat, and when you fold the rear seats down you get a full 6 foot between the headrests. It was simple luxury made to be functional. The v6 vortec is a sturdy but thirsty engine, most cases will outlast the tranny. It has its problems, but I have never gotten it stuck yet and it goes like hell in the snow. Its refined simplicity, decent ride and roomy cargobay makes it a good daily driver, as well as for fishing and camping. The smart track makes it 2wd to save on gas when no slipping occurs, then locks 4wd in in rough conditions. Biggest issue is the tranny and transfer case, if you can get one with those rebuilt in it I'd definitely recommend, also there is a retro kit for $270 on rock auto to turn it into MFI from the weird poppet sytem that helps the fuel mileage and gives it a little more power.
Now hold it right there Saabkyle04, First its Chevy Blazer, Then GMC Jimmy, Then Oldsmobile Bravada, and Last but NOT least Isuzu Hombre
they updated those SUVs when they came out with the Chevy trailblazer, Isuzu Ascender, and GMC envoy.
Derek Williams I believe 99-01 you could get this body style in a Trailblazer & Envoy as trim levels. Then they made those model names.
Ardian Kimball The isuzu hombre is based on the chevy s10 not the blazer
yeah, the Bravada
gotta love Oldsmobile!
I've been waiting for this fora long time! Great vid as always Kyle!
Our Oldsmobile is still going at 150k, and it still drives like new.
whatever happened to your oldsmobile all these years later?
I love that car and I’m 12.
I love my 02 Blazer. They're great machines. All of the s-series.
i like this better then gmc and chevy
Me too
Why? It’s all the same car, but under several different brands.
Why it's the same truck
yeah but my GMC has 4x4 and a far nicer looking grille. Honestly, I had no idea these even existed...
We Are Anonymous chevy breaks down they used to be good not anymore
That comment was aimed at a couple americans who were complaining about their gas prices. I live just across the border from Detroit, USA and so I was saying how I have to pay $5.30/gallon here when 5 mins across the border it's $3.30/gallon. I know gas prices are higher other places but its crazy how different the prices can be just across a river. Petrol is high everywhere in Europe, but atleast they're pretty close to eachother. There's not big differences just across borders like we have.
I had a 98' with heated seats and the moonroof. Best vehicle I ever had on snow and ice, even loose gravel. It did eat gas and seemed to have gadget gremlins, but I still liked it.
I always look at one of your Videos before I look at a car. I’m looking at a 2000 Blazer but this is basically the same thing.
Kyle you don't even know how long I have been waiting for this :)
Yess, classic Kyle's review without post producion commentary, love it so hard
Sure do miss the Olds division of GM, they made some wonderful and outstanding automobiles in their 107 year history!!! The 4-4-2 was my favorite
Can you do a video on the Oldsmobile Intrigue?????
You did it kyle, you did it. Woo hoo. Kyle I've been looking for a bravada on your channel for some time now, and you finally made a video of one!!!! Thankyou Kyle, thankyou!!!!!!!
song is the unforgiven by metallica
Not bad! My dad used to have a Blazer.
true fan
Thought about one of these pretty hard when I was SUV shopping, but I just couldn't settle for a V6, so I ended up getting a Durango, similar size (a bit bigger) but came standard with a V8 (V6s weren't really offered on the 1st gen Durango aside from a short and limited run). Very nice trucks either way. My preference in vehicles is definitely a fully loaded SUV. Roomy comfortable practical (lots of cargo and people room as well as great snow handling) and very safe.
I think my favorite would be the Rainier, although that is more related to the Trailblazer, and Envoy.
I like that Bravada!!!! To bad Oldsmobile went away I really like the direction they were headed in..
I see these Blazers/Jimmys/Bravadas all the time
So awesome they went out of business!
Shawn M how is it good? They were great!
This is a clean truck. Very nice. I kinda want it.
Oh I didn't know that. But I just don't get why people bash GM. I mean most of their cars between the nineties an mid 2000's were bad, but they've always made rock hard trucks. My dads s10 reached nearly 200,000 miles before the tranny went. And aside form a couple other flaws, there wasn't anything wrong with it. That truck was overloaded daily, driven through the snow all the time, and basically went to hell and back, back to hell, and back again.
Believe it or not, the 2001 Bravada was used as the pace car in the Indy 500 that year.
Shannon Trainer I remember that!
my uncle used to have a 96 Bravada back in 01 it looked nice
That's what I have now and it's my most favorite vehicle ever
That is a sweet ride super clean too given its age
Yeah, too bad the American consumers were not patriotic or supportive to their country (they still aren't) to save Oldsmoblie as well as the many other American car brands that went out of business.
I am buying the same truck tomorrow thanks for the review. Mine is a 99 with 150,000 and cleaner interior
Did you ever get one?
yes
I LOVE MY OLDSMOBILE!
METALLICA, THE EAGLES!
I would seriously buy that. That had some luxury to it. I support GM so my next car will be a GM product. Ppl seem to sleep on SUVs like these. I'm like 20 so I would get a Cobalt
Cool. The new Passat here was built just to our American's liking's. As a result of that, it was the 2012 Motor Trend Car of the Year.
i currently own a 1999 Durango SLT 4x4 and i only have good things to say about it. I LOVE DODGE
That is such a pretty truck
I have one. I love it. Great SUV!
I'd like to have such diesel cars as you guys get in the UK, diesel here, in my local city in Ontario, diesel is $1.10 a litre vs 1.40 a litre gas.
As for me, I drive a Land Rover Discovery 3 with the big Jag V8, it gets an ENTIRE 11mpg(premium fuel only, $1.64 litre) with mostly country driving, and I have far from a lead foot, the RPM rarely goes over 3k even coming from a stop. The best I have ever seen it get is 16MPG and that was with cruise control on a dual carriageway.
Not a big fan of GM, but this thing is IMMACULATE!! Like a lot of cars at your family's dealer, its as if it was transported to the dealer via a time machine because of how well kept it was all its life! But of course there is no such thing as a time machine and Car Connections Inc. wouldn't have one.....or do they? lol but in all seriousness, its unbelievable that some 10+ year old cars like this can still be found in showroom condition.
Thank you for another Oldsmobile Video.
Yes!!! Oldsmobile is awesome!!!!!!!!
i have one of these, well its my friends but im borrowing it while hes at college, its the 2000 platinum edition, does pretty well honestly, really not my type of vehicle but it handles well and still runs strong at 156,000 miles considering there hasnt been a lot of big problems or breaks
awesome video kyle
Loving all that leather lining! Looks sexy and inviting! GM had some great lush interiors back then, the early 2000s Suburban LT is a favorite of mine. Wouldn't give a second glance at the new ones! I almost gave -3 grand for a loaded 99 Blazer LT but I backed out at 14 mpg city. I took a Jeep Cherokee 4.0. The Cherokee gets 18/22 and it's easy to work on! 2001 gas prices might change my mind though! There's lots of these in Michigan but most of them are beaten to heck on the dirt roads.
My dad's girlfriend just got rid of her 2002 Blazer. She absolutely hated it, hence why she only had it for a couple months. This one looks much nicer though.
Thanks for sharing us this rare find @saabkyle04 !!! :D
this looks like a good teen car to drive
That's because the third generation was the only one offered in Canada. This is the second generation. The third was a rebagded Trailblazer/Envoy (Blazer/Jimmy successors)
That is one nice SUV amazing condition and sounds really nice.
I was going to ask if you had ever done the blazer with this year untill i found this and their practically the same cool video thanks for doing so many cars
Very nice video, what kind of camera did you use?... It has excellent image quality.
I've been wanting you do do one of these vehicles for a while! Thanks!
Yo quiero una de esas
The Oldsmobile Bravada is awesome! But my favorite car of all time is a Chevrolet Suburban LTZ.
you should remove the throttle body plate restrictor to free up that low end torque it really make a big difference i did it on my 96 bravada and 2000 silverado it easily spins and breaks free alot faster now i would definitly recomend it to people who are thinking about it.
i always hated the floor shifter in these trucks.....you could also get it on the Blazer and jimmy and it looks like an afterthought. The Coloumn shifter looks better.
Agreed, and even though this particular GMT330 shifter was nicely detailed and finished, a floor shifter just looks out of place on any truck with an automatic. Didn't GM go full floor shifter on these little trucks sometime around 1999 or 2000? I can't remember.
This and the 2nd gen explorers have the best sounding V6's
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL
I've always loved these things. I love GM in general though. I drive an 89 Reatta
Is the Blazer a rebadge of the Jimmy or the other way around?
I here ya. The only downside for me, starting to drive on my own, is paying for gas, LOL!
It's just crazy!
In America, its called the Toyota Tacoma. It isn't the exact same thing as the Hilux, but pretty close. Your English is good.
the engine on the 1996-2001 Oldsmobile Bravada
Engine
4.3 L Vortec 4300 V6
This generation bravada has the same headlight design as the jimmy but the next generation was based on the buick rainier.
No the rainier was the successor to the bravada
Hey is it me or is that the xTreme in the background you did a while back?
HVAC should always have the 3 knobs for temp, zones and fan speed, instead of over-engineered touch panels or tiny 'rib' buttons. And radios should always have a volume knob and a tuning knob to supplement the electronic versions.
wow they should have put a third row in these they're pretty spacious!
It's strange how car companies change the names, engines, bodies, and colors of cars to appeal to certain markets around the world. That " Agrale Marruá" looks pretty sweet.. The popular off-roader in America is the Jeep Wrangler.
You have a spelling error in the description. In the beginning you say jummy not Jimmy.
Metallica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7:20
+FORD KING Eagles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8:50
the average MPG on the 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada is
14 City 18 Highway
And yet somehow still, American automakers dominated the marketplace.
@saabkyle04 Hey Kyle , just a head up you made a spelling mistake in the description " While, essentially it was a Jummy"
The paint is well maintained
damn i like that 1995 style interior
is that a Cadilac BLS? I though it was only sold in Europe
Can you review it please?
How did I miss this?
Seriously, I also live in Ontario and the prices are through the roof!
Also, i think saabkyles subscribers should donate money to him so he can buy a set of sunglasses with a high quality camera in them. then he could use both hands to operate things as he describes them, and much safer test drives!
In Puerto Rico we're paying about $0.98/L which I thought was pretty high until I read some of your comments.
You should do a video on the Nissan pathfinder the newer models like 2005 and up
I love this one because their is no buzzer is a chime
Hey Kyle, I noticed that you always say " it has automatic driver's side windows " why would you only mention that if all the windows are automatic? Just wondering :)
hey kyle, do that silver cadillac cts in the background
