Also is Disney proud? I actually tried hard until I remembered this is an animatic made by a poor teen with no other means of entertainment other than imagining fictional characters in fanfic. Now typing this, I realize Disney wouldn't see this because they be sitting on their bank of money-

Mabey Varian and Rapunzel have the same mother because when we watch section Queen for a day we can see Varian,s family picture and on we can see Varian's mother . She is similar to Queen Ariana ( Rapunzel's mother ) .

I absolutely love how you show that gothel doesn't give a sh*t about Varian and just does enough for him not to drag Raps into leaving with him. (Not that she cared about Rapunzel either but you know, she's the one what the hair that absolutely has to stay and if she makes Raps feel that she's the favourite, it can make her want more to obey gothel, to stay her favourite)

The fact that when she would scare them with pictures of people, it would be of Quirin. I love that because she’s subtly training Varian especially to be afraid of that, so if he ever saw his dad he’s go the other way.
A year later for the rewatch and I'm still blown away by all the subtle stuff in that. Varian literally being cast in shadows, not only with his moonstone thing but with the treatment he receives from gothel. The fact she gives him the occasional physical reassurance, like she's training a dog to be obedient. It's heartbreaking. Having him be left out of the "I love you most" scene to show how little of a shit Gothel gives about him. God its so good

@@carolinelutz397 well for example, u can tell that mother gothel clearly favors Rapunzel (and by favor I mean likes her powers better, she doesn't like either if them) I do a bad job explaining, but go read the fanfic in the description that the animatic is based on, its really good.
The shadow and knight like scare kind implies Gothel suspects that Varian remembers his father subconcily and wants him to accociat him with the bad things she tells him to be as an extra leg to keep Rapunzle in the tower(please excuse spelling errors)

Thank you for showing Varian's reaction when Gothel and Rapunzel do their I love you-love you more-love you most exchange. In Darkness Exists to Make Light Truly Count, Gothel never does that with him, she just says "I love you" and he says "I love you too", and it's a subtle detail I'm so glad you showed!

I believe Varian feels salty that Gothel mainly cares about Rapunzel than she does for him, although she never really cared for any of them.

That was gonna happen until the guards showed up at..the house and then Gothel just straight up completely turned her back on her daughter and abandoned her, that's how Captain adopted her. Notice she came back to the house, hm why would she do that, nothing there but.. Cassandra.
The first time I heard this song and it got to the “men with pointy teeth” bit it felt way more like she was just trying to scare Raps away from all men in general rather than another excuse for the princess to stay.
This absolutely made my day, it's fantastic !! I love how you change the song to have Gothel playing with both Rapunzel's fear of the evil out there and Varian being hurt by it as well as Varian's fear of being all alone, left behind, is just so good ! I especially adore how you kept separating them, because they are at their strongest together and Gothel needs them to rely only on her and not each other...

See I'm writing a fan fiction with this in mind for When will my Life Begin? I changed some lyrics and I make it like Varian will ask to leave but Raps made Gothel think it was her idea so after this Gothel said to Raps
"Be more like Varian and don't ever ask to leave this tower again." Varian is still ignored but he likes it sometimes because he doesn't like how Mother Gothel touches him. Also Raps promised him she would never leave the tower without him. Also when Gothel told Raps not to muble in the movie she called her adorable so that's in my fan fiction because never once had Gothel called Varian adorable or even told him she loved him.

(I can tell by the looks of it and from what I read about in story that even though Gothel's relationship with is same as in canon, her relationship with Varian reminds me very much the one with Frollo and Quasimodo (ironic considering of what we know) and just like his sister, Varian also wants to be outside, be free)
