What upsets me about Peter Dinklage is he can get his bag playing an actual dwarf that gets called every slur under the sun but a movie that does portray mystical dwarves in a wholesome and whimsical light is an offense. 🤦♂️
Firstly: they have no better ideas Secondly: if Snow White bombs, there will still be projects in the pipeline that they have to follow through on before they can slam the brakes.
Because that is exactly the point. They actually hate their old classic animated films because they are "outdated" and filled with ideas that doesn't fit with the modern times, like traditional men and women roles. They also lack diversity and queer representation, and among other things. I mean, you heard them talk about their old films. Does it sounds like they liked or respected the old classics? No. They would not "learn" because that was a reason why they made these stuff. That is like asking an arsonist if they are yet to learn that burning things destroys them... well, they know, and that is exactly why they are doing it.
The whole thing is just pointless. No one asked for a Snow White remake, and them trying to make a “modern take “ on it is also pointless because we have films like Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsmen already. We’ve had enough 💀
Personally I feel that Peter Dinklage is hypocritical, since he made fun of his height multiple times to climb up the Hollywood ladder. His role in the movie Elf in particular pokes more fun at little people’s height than any major Snow White story ever has.

Rachael Ziegler was the anti-marketing machine, and the gross CGI is just the cherry on the turd sundae - Disney could have just left the story alone and done something brand new, (there's plenty of untouched fairy tales that could do with being told, especially from other countries besides Europe, it's not like we're lacking in that department) but they chose this path and it's going to bite them for it. Sadly, it's Disney, so it's still going to make a million dollars, but people will still stick with the original.
Facts. I just double-checked the trailer and I must admit that it contains like a top 3 of things that really makes me hate this movie... 1) CGI everywhere! Not an inch of something natural in sight. How "live" is this action anyway? 2) the lead. She keeps this odd grim on her face (me-myself-and-I look) just like in the Hunger Games prequel which is way out of character in both takes. The attitude that can't be hidden; 3) costumes. uuuuugh... why on earth do they look so cheap and artificial? This calamity has a huge budget, what is this?! And don't get me started about the wig, it would make Miss Universe look wacky.
What Disney does in each of these remakes is turn the protagonist into the villain and the villain into the protagonist. That explains the casting of Snow White.
Don't forget what Rachel Zegler did before she made any comments about Snow White: 1. She flamed Trump supporters on social media. 2. She called Jeremy Renner a sexist, racist homophobic monster. 3. She led the charge to fire Gina Carano because Gina refused to list her pronouns in her bio. 4. She threw a hissy fit when she wasn't invited to the Oscars. A zebra doesn't change its stripes. A leopard doesn't change her stripes. She's been blacklisted by virtually every Hollywood studio because they know she's box office poison. She has starred in two flops, she starred in a third movie that broke even, and her fourth movie is already destined to be a dumpster fire. Her chances of reviving her acting career are slim to none.

We know that Rachel Zegler is not honest. If she was, it would have been her position in the first place, but on top of that her interviews feel so fake. You can't take a stand, if you don't have a clear position. Disney could have shut down Peter Dinklage, by making a statement that by not having dwarves in the movie, it would take away jobs from little people and that that would be more offensive, but people nowadays don't have clear positions anymore. Everybody just seems to be trying their best to avoid backlash, and you can't expect people to take a stand who succeeded by tiptoeing around.
7:44 - funny thing is that there was a live action with animals that didn't look creepy and used actual animals - Babe with James Cromwell. But if they can't use actual lions and slightly animate them, then don't start doing a friggin' production at all?
Blame Dinklage for those dwarfs. Other than that, I didn't think the trailer was bad, I like the look and colors. It's not like it's a movie I'm going to see in theaters, but I hope that after so many problems it goes well, only if the movie deserves it, but it's going to be difficult, at this point the best you can hope for is to break even. That's my most honest opinion. P.s. The hate for Rachel is ridiculous, she is not the first actor to say the wrong things, but it is curious that when an actress does it the hate is greater than when it is an actor.

Captain Marvel, The Acolyte, now Snow White. What all of these projects have in is controversial statements made by directors/actors before the show even comes out, that makes the movie not just a movie but a political statement. Then people unequivocally love or hate the movie/series before they actually see it.

It was meant to be a deconstruction of the superhero mythos weaved into a family drama that gets solved in the end. And the main reason why the original was so successful is because it was released before superhero movies were so mainstream. Brad Bird only returned to make a sequel because he was pressured to. It seems that Disney and Pixar's motives to make sequels these days is laziness rather than passion. In fact, for the last 10 years or so, it feels like Encanto has been the only Disney movie that felt like a passion project (and even then, it still felt formulaic with the same typical Disney anti-elitist message that Wreck-it-Ralph started). I'm not saying sequels are bad, I'm just saying I want Disney to go back to adapting fairy tales, legends, folktales and classic literature. Focusing on character rather than message. I also think it's time they ditch the 3D format and convert to 2D/3D hybrid format like Spider-Verse, Blue-Eye Samurai and Puss in Boots.
They should just re-release the cartoon, without editing it for a modern day audience. It always seems to me all these remakes are just evil people trying to convince you they're not evil, otherwise they wouldn't update them.

The problem is they don’t organically make “modern” stories. Secondly, the reason why Rachel Zegler gets so much hate, is because people feel she hasn’t “earned” a place to speak about inequalities when she’s clearly been given opportunities that most of the world doesn’t get. More importantly though is the people who “defend” Rachel and call any criticism (bigotry/ racist/ sexist/ etc) and for a while that was/ and still is the general narrative of “mainstream” media. If it was just Rachel’s comments in isolation people would have said there peace and be made about the next thing. Corporate/ mainstream media needs to do a much more honest/ better job at calling out BS when they see it, and a lot of alternative medias will lose there “power”. P.S. Rachel does suck though :)
For the most part the only thing I need to know to know a movie will be horrible is that it's made by Disney and that's sad. At least it seems like they didn't ruin Deadpool and that's a relief as he and Wolverine are my favorite comic book characters. I can't muster enough emotion about anything Disney to hate on any of the actresses. Did Rachel girl boss to close to the sun? Probably. Do I care? Nope, because if it's Disney I expect it to be utter trash and then hope to be surprised.
There should be a path to redemption. It should however involve showing you understand what the problem was and how you intend to change going forward. For serious misdoings also regret and sincere apology. For me, just avoiding certain public persona to reduce controversy is not going to change my mind. In case of Zegler, I didn't care to begin with. But for others, it's not going to he this easy...

As someone who thought Rachel Zegler's comments about Snow White were just funny, thank you for calling out how overblown that got. My reaction, more than anything was 'This girl's trashing her own company? What a rebel!" I know some folks were bothered by her casting, and I get it, but to me (and I may get in trouble for this) she could still look the part, which is probably what they call 'passing', and that matters to me more than the actor's literal heritage. Just look like the character is all I ever ask for.
The truth is that Snow White is an incredibly outdated character and 1937 movie is incredibly outdated as well. I don't like it and by remaking it with modern vision of a woman they are just trying to have their cake and eat it, too. They are trying to appeal to a different demographic, but at the same time to keep the old visuals and characters to keep the recognition. Peter Dinklage is right, because the truth is Snow White doesn't need dwarves in 2025.

Honestly, I was pretty much upset with the whole attack on Zegler in this platform. For months she didn't do or say absolutely anything ... and I mean ... ANYTHING ... and people were still attacking her all over the place. I can understand if you get upset with some of the things she said, but it made me feel that she would be attacked from scratching her belly. It was nuts.
I just wish she would've apologized because I think she just kept stoking the flames. If she did an apology, I think the majority of the hate would've cooled down. I still really don't like her, and considering what she's been saying, sending fire to Gal Gadot to where Gal is getting hate and she's not even helping back her co-star shows her true colors.

When she's given more roles where she can be allowed to shine, she may surprise everyone. Mike Zeroh was the main RUclipsr making up stories about her, but everything he says is made up.

The same can be said for Marvel writers who hate comics, SW writers who have disdain for the franchise etc. Instead of working on properties they feel are beneath them they should only do the "high art" they feel is deserving of their actual time and attention. Except high art doesn't sell and even when it does, people who go the Disney route rarely have the talent it takes to make something compelling otherwise.

I don't know. I think she was given those talking points by Disney as part of their campaign. Remember Gadot was right there with her reinforcing everything she said. When that blew up in their face, Disney issued new talking points and Ziegler dutifully parroted those.

It was nice that they actually showed the animals having emotions letting them emote in the mufasa movie.. I don't know why they just didn't make this movie to begin with. What happened to them wanting the realistic animals that can't have emotions, but if you were deaf and you were trying to watch the movie you wouldn't get the emotional impact because the facial features don't match up to the script...
Just an aside, your point on Ziegler getting hate for bot being as "attractive" Gadot (the evil queen) is not what Snow White is even about. In the original film and story, she is deemed "Fairest in the Land" because of her kind nature, innocence, and warm personality while the Queen being full of hate, yet beautiful, is not fair at all. Also, given Ziegler's personality and attitude, j doubt she could ever embody Snow White.
Nope. That's a very modern take which maybe could've been the intention of the 1937 cartoon, to an extent, but definitely not an original story. In those times external beauty was considered the biggest virtue of a woman. If it was about kindness, clearly the queen wouldn't be considered the fairest before Snow White grew up. Which was the case. The mirror always told the queen she is the fairest, as long as Snow White was still a little girl. It was always literally about one woman being jealous over another one's beauty, which was obviously portrayed as a bad thing. Sure, people always could imagine a beautiful woman who's evil but not a woman who isn't beautiful but her kind personality is more important. This is a concept that simply didn't exist until very recently.
I agree with you on that, but Snow White is prettier than the evil queen in both aspects and neither aspect can be used here because neither one works because one let’s be real realistically Rachel’s not pretty than gal and as far as personality goes if you wanna try and justify that you can’t because look at the leaked whistle while you work sequence that is not a kind and caring personality. @@zuul81 I genuinely feel like Disney told her to say that, because they had the exact same talking points in the promo for BATB and Aladdin. A lot of people were annoyed with Emma and Naomi as well. Emma refused to wear a corset and was insisting that the live action version was more feminist, and they added an entire new ‘feminist’ song for Jasmine, and arc about her wanting to become sultan. Disney has been shitting on the classic princesses since 2013 when Frozen came out.

I think this is worse. It's the same as Wonka not having little people play oompa-loompas. Hollywood says representation matters and that they are trying not to offend little people, then they keep getting rid of acting roles for little people
It's frightening that people have faith in this obvious cash crab that looks barely put together after watching that trailer. The colors are extremely overblown (it looks more cartoony than the nearly 90 year old cartoon), Gal Gadot is HORRIBLY miscast (MEHGIC MIRROR ON DE WALL), the CGI is terrible, and, on the whole, is this remake even necessary?! These live action remakes need to be put out of their misery and STAT! If not, we're gonna get more garbage like Mulan or Pinocchio, or unnecessary cash grabs like Mufasa, the Moana remake (which I'm still convinced is a publicity stunt), or this. If you want to see it, go ahead and see it. Just know that I am not going to be one of the people that does.

I remember reading the Tweets of Pamela Ribon (voice actress of Snow White in that film and co-writer) at the time who was gleeful in her mockery of Snow White and Disney Princess franchise just to score some virtue signal points. I am tired of people getting involved in franchises only to deride or subvert for their own selfish narcissism and virtue signalling. I think of the Female Cast Members at the parks who seriously give it their all to make these Princesses come to life for park attendees who get paid way less than Zegler.
Disney would honestly do themselves so many favors by leaving their animated classics the freak alone, but obviously they're not going to do that because money 🤑

Rachael Ziegler was the anti-marketing machine, and the gross CGI is just the cherry on the turd sundae - Disney could have just left the story alone and done something brand new, (there's plenty of untouched fairy tales that could do with being told, especially from other countries besides Europe, it's not like we're lacking in that department) but they chose this path and it's going to bite them for it.
Sadly, it's Disney, so it's still going to make a million dollars, but people will still stick with the original.
Facts. I just double-checked the trailer and I must admit that it contains like a top 3 of things that really makes me hate this movie... 1) CGI everywhere! Not an inch of something natural in sight. How "live" is this action anyway? 2) the lead. She keeps this odd grim on her face (me-myself-and-I look) just like in the Hunger Games prequel which is way out of character in both takes. The attitude that can't be hidden; 3) costumes. uuuuugh... why on earth do they look so cheap and artificial? This calamity has a huge budget, what is this?! And don't get me started about the wig, it would make Miss Universe look wacky.

You can't take a stand, if you don't have a clear position. Disney could have shut down Peter Dinklage, by making a statement that by not having dwarves in the movie, it would take away jobs from little people and that that would be more offensive, but people nowadays don't have clear positions anymore. Everybody just seems to be trying their best to avoid backlash, and you can't expect people to take a stand who succeeded by tiptoeing around.

Blame Dinklage for those dwarfs. Other than that, I didn't think the trailer was bad, I like the look and colors. It's not like it's a movie I'm going to see in theaters, but I hope that after so many problems it goes well, only if the movie deserves it, but it's going to be difficult, at this point the best you can hope for is to break even. That's my most honest opinion.
P.s. The hate for Rachel is ridiculous, she is not the first actor to say the wrong things, but it is curious that when an actress does it the hate is greater than when it is an actor.

It was meant to be a deconstruction of the superhero mythos weaved into a family drama that gets solved in the end. And the main reason why the original was so successful is because it was released before superhero movies were so mainstream. Brad Bird only returned to make a sequel because he was pressured to.
It seems that Disney and Pixar's motives to make sequels these days is laziness rather than passion. In fact, for the last 10 years or so, it feels like Encanto has been the only Disney movie that felt like a passion project (and even then, it still felt formulaic with the same typical Disney anti-elitist message that Wreck-it-Ralph started).
I'm not saying sequels are bad, I'm just saying I want Disney to go back to adapting fairy tales, legends, folktales and classic literature. Focusing on character rather than message. I also think it's time they ditch the 3D format and convert to 2D/3D hybrid format like Spider-Verse, Blue-Eye Samurai and Puss in Boots.
They should just re-release the cartoon, without editing it for a modern day audience.

The problem is they don’t organically make “modern” stories.
Secondly, the reason why Rachel Zegler gets so much hate, is because people feel she hasn’t “earned” a place to speak about inequalities when she’s clearly been given opportunities that most of the world doesn’t get. More importantly though is the people who “defend” Rachel and call any criticism (bigotry/ racist/ sexist/ etc) and for a while that was/ and still is the general narrative of “mainstream” media. If it was just Rachel’s comments in isolation people would have said there peace and be made about the next thing. Corporate/ mainstream media needs to do a much more honest/ better job at calling out BS when they see it, and a lot of alternative medias will lose there “power”.

For the most part the only thing I need to know to know a movie will be horrible is that it's made by Disney and that's sad. At least it seems like they didn't ruin Deadpool and that's a relief as he and Wolverine are my favorite comic book characters. I can't muster enough emotion about anything Disney to hate on any of the actresses. Did Rachel girl boss to close to the sun? Probably. Do I care? Nope, because if it's Disney I expect it to be utter trash and then hope to be surprised.
There should be a path to redemption. It should however involve showing you understand what the problem was and how you intend to change going forward. For serious misdoings also regret and sincere apology. For me, just avoiding certain public persona to reduce controversy is not going to change my mind. I know some folks were bothered by her casting, and I get it, but to me (and I may get in trouble for this) she could still look the part, which is probably what they call 'passing', and that matters to me more than the actor's literal heritage. Just look like the character is all I ever ask for.
The truth is that Snow White is an incredibly outdated character and 1937 movie is incredibly outdated as well. I don't like it and by remaking it with modern vision of a woman they are just trying to have their cake and eat it, too. They are trying to appeal to a different demographic, but at the same time to keep the old visuals and characters to keep the recognition. Peter Dinklage is right, because the truth is Snow White doesn't need dwarves in 2025.

Agreed. The same can be said for Marvel writers who hate comics, SW writers who have disdain for the franchise etc. Instead of working on properties they feel are beneath them they should only do the "high art" they feel is deserving of their actual time and attention. Except high art doesn't sell and even when it does, people who go the Disney route rarely have the talent it takes to make something compelling otherwise.

I don't know. I think she was given those talking points by Disney as part of their campaign. Remember Gadot was right there with her reinforcing everything she said. When that blew up in their face, Disney issued new talking points and Ziegler dutifully parroted those.

Just because you don't like or care about something doesn't mean that the entire presentation was bad for everyone, especially those who are probably having a good time there. Personally I won't see those live action in theaters, and yet I liked the rest of the panels.
The only one I can get behind is Zootopia 2. The first movie was pretty good and a sequel has a lot of potential for expanding this animal world

It was nice that they actually showed the animals having emotions letting them emote in the mufasa movie.. I don't know why they just didn't make this movie to begin with. What happened to them wanting the realistic animals that can't have emotions, but if you were deaf and you were trying to watch the movie you wouldn't get the emotional impact because the facial features don't match up to the script...
Just an aside, your point on Ziegler getting hate for bot being as "attractive" Gadot (the evil queen) is not what Snow White is even about. In the original film and story, she is deemed "Fairest in the Land" because of her kind nature, innocence, and warm personality while the Queen being full of hate, yet beautiful, is not fair at all. Also, given Ziegler's personality and attitude, j doubt she could ever embody Snow White.
Nope. That's a very modern take which maybe could've been the intention of the 1937 cartoon, to an extent, but definitely not an original story. In those times external beauty was considered the biggest virtue of a woman. If it was about kindness, clearly the queen wouldn't be considered the fairest before Snow White grew up. Which was the case. The mirror always told the queen she is the fairest, as long as Snow White was still a little girl. It was always literally about one woman being jealous over another one's beauty, which was obviously portrayed as a bad thing. Sure, people always could imagine a beautiful woman who's evil but not a woman who isn't beautiful but her kind personality is more important. This is a concept that simply didn't exist until very recently.

I mean you can’t really honestly know whether a hollywood personality is sincere or not unless you know them personally because a lot of them are performing even when they are not making movies and such. They have a persona just for the public. There is rarely a single point where they are truly themselves publicly and even when that happens you can’t be sure when that is. And like the other commenter said. She might have actually been following talking points when she said that nonsense about deleting prince charming and making snow white a “strong independent woman”. lol
@@zuul81 I genuinely feel like Disney told her to say that, because they had the exact same talking points in the promo for BATB and Aladdin. A lot of people were annoyed with Emma and Naomi as well. Emma refused to wear a corset and was insisting that the live action version was more feminist, and they added an entire new ‘feminist’ song for Jasmine, and arc about her wanting to become sultan. Disney has been shitting on the classic princesses since 2013 when Frozen came out.

I think this is worse. It's the same as Wonka not having little people play oompa-loompas. Hollywood says representation matters and that they are trying not to offend little people, then they keep getting rid of acting roles for little people

It's frightening that people have faith in this obvious cash crab that looks barely put together after watching that trailer. The colors are extremely overblown (it looks more cartoony than the nearly 90 year old cartoon), Gal Gadot is HORRIBLY miscast (MEHGIC MIRROR ON DE WALL), the CGI is terrible, and, on the whole, is this remake even necessary?! These live action remakes need to be put out of their misery and STAT! If not, we're gonna get more garbage like Mulan or Pinocchio, or unnecessary cash grabs like Mufasa, the Moana remake (which I'm still convinced is a publicity stunt), or this. If you want to see it, go ahead and see it. Just know that I am not going to be one of the people that does.
I am but I can't forgive Zegler I think its awful that she took on a role she had no passion for when it could of gone to a Actress who did. It doesn't help that their have been people, sadly some Women who have worked on recent Disney Princess projects only to spit on it with mockery. Remember Wreck It Ralph 2 when the entire Princess lineup was reduced to obnoxious Feminist quips? I remember reading the Tweets of Pamela Ribon (voice actress of Snow White in that film and co-writer) at the time who was gleeful in her mockery of Snow White and Disney Princess franchise just to score some virtue signal points. I am tired of people getting involved in franchises only to deride or subvert for their own selfish narcissism and virtue signalling. I think of the Female Cast Members at the parks who seriously give it their all to make these Princesses come to life for park attendees who get paid way less than Zegler.
Disney would honestly do themselves so many favors by leaving their animated classics the freak alone, but obviously they're not going to do that because money 🤑
