I have some other information to share about these 2 amps. To get a good center image (phantom center channel) speakers need to be 5 feet 2 inches to 7 feet 3 inches apart for the Fosi Audio T20, and 9 feet 6 inches to 11 feet 4 inches for the Aiyima T9 pro, this measurement is from and to the center of speakers.
I own the T9 Pro and would prefer it, strongly, to the Fosi Audio for a variety of reasons. Most importantly, the plethora of inputs (which I need, as I have a streamer, a CD Player, a BR player, and my TV connected) and the inclusion of a remote. I agree the tubes don't make much of a difference. I exchanged the tubes for different ones on the T9 Pro, and there was no audible difference at all. I, too, dial up the highs and bass on the T9 Pro, because in "flat" position it does sound a tiny bit, well, flat. Increasing the highs also adds a lot to the clarity of dialogue in movies. I'd still be interested in the Fosi Audio GIVEAWAY as I could use it for my desktop setup. If me not living in the US is a problem, I would of course cover the SHPPING to my country (Germany). 😀
Good review. I've been using a T20 on my PC desk driving a pair of "generic" Panasonic SB-PM03 6-ohm 2-way speakers (originally part of a mini stereo). Even with these speakers, the sound is miles better than even the most expensive "computer" speakers.
I changed the tubes on my T20 to ge5654 from riverstone audio and really liked the difference. Reached out to Riverstone before buying the T9 pro they told me the 5654 would replace the 5725 tubes and should possibly boost the gain. They asked me to get back with them if/when I changed
Hello: Unfortunately "Class D" classification does not mean that it is digital as it is not. The classification letter of "D" happen to have been the next available designation in amplifier topology. Class D amplifiers uses Pulse Width Modulation or "PWM" to deliver current to the load in the output stage. This design has been around since the 1950's. Also you don't drive speakers with digital (square-wave) signals. Hope this helps
I really enjoy your analysis and thoughts on the class D amps. I have listened to several Aiyima (T5, A07, D03, A08, Dac A5pro to name a few) and use a SMSL DA9 with Geshelli J2 Dac (if you get the chance - check Geshelli out!) as my office main. I totally agree with your assessments and look forward to trying a T9 pro or your thoughts on the T5 phono amp. Thanks as well for turning me on to Potato Fi - she is great and has a lot of awesome equipment (esp. that Metallica turntable! Wow!). Please continue the reviews and keep up the great work! I have signed up for the giveaway. I have not tried Fosi Audio after a disappointing experience with an amp some 10 years ago (B20 I think? My Lepai T2020A+ was much better at the time).
Thank you for the kind words! I was kind of a snob about class D for awhile and then decided to jump in and just spend time with them rather than quickly dismiss them all. A lot of what you see in my reviews is me learning and hopefully spreading that knowledge to others as well. I would LOVE to get a hold of a Geshelli DAC. That's on my list for this year. I haven't heard the T5 yet, so can't quite weigh in there. Also, Potato Fi is the best!!!!!
Hi Jhon - you were randomly selected as a winner for the T20 - please message Fosi directly through their Facebook page for more info - if you have any issues, please email me at the address on my contact page!
Thanks for pointing that out! I usually keep my tone control positions at zero when testing gear to get a first impression and then adjust as needed. Thanks for watching!
I'm old school and silver faced. I'm curious as to how these lil D amps sound. I hear the tubes are mostly for decoration. I would like to find out for myself. Cheers and thanks
Tubes are in the gain stage to help with distortion levels, so yeah, they aren't meant to sound like a classic tube amp. I like vintage gear as well, but these have been run to review and listen to. I think they are great for audio beginners or popping into a garage where you might not want to expose nice vintage gear to those elements lol.
Hi! I'm a complete beginner in the hobby. I got a Aiyima t9 pro and a Fosi bt20a. Both with 24V Power supply and I can't manage to get a 32v ps in my country. I'm looking for affordable speakers now and I'd like to know if is it okay to get a pair of JBL stage a130 to work with them. Do you think I can drive those speakers until I can get an upgrade? It's a 18m² room and I don't intend (and I can't) to listen to music very loud. Thanks

On the surface they have different power handling capacities and the chip in the FOSI is aimed at auto applications while the one in the AIYIMA is aimed at sound bar home audio.
After more experience listening to each, I would agree the 3255 is punchier. But if someone wants to save some money, the 3116 isn't that bad. Thanks for the comment!
I have both the fosi audio t20 and Aiyima t9 pro comparable bass and treble settings are 12 o’clock on the t20 and plus 2 on both the bass and treble on the t9 pro. With my amplifier a-b switch this is the closest I can achieve similar sound
I bought a T9 Pro for Christmas and cannot be happier with the sound and/or performance. Main reason I got the T9 was inputs. I am using it as an inexpressive sound bar in my bedroom I also connected a WiiM mini streamer to it. Having the remote in for this purpose is a big plus. If the Fosi had more inputs that I could use it in my listening room/office. I need to connect at least a computer, a CD player, and probably another streamer.
Entered. Class d has come a long way and some deceptively good amps have been coming out of China based on the TPA3255 chipset and Infineons newest chip as well. Catching up to Hypex and Purifi class D. Icepower amps are excellent as well. Just built two class D as of late. Two based on TOA3255 TPA3251 and Icepower chipsets. These really drive some difficult to drive speakers with authority and no longer sound thin or bright on top like early cheaper class D. My class A/B amps have taken a back seat as of late. I’m a convert.
@@ForeverAnalog Not really. I just bought a board with the chipset already on it, not as much going on insde these class D amps visually compared to A/B amps. I then sourced a case to put it them in. Its fairly simple if you have basic electronics tools like soldering iron and multimeter etc. Check out the icepower 50ASX2se or even better the Icepower 125ASX2SE boards and buy a case from Ghent Audio specifically made for such boards, includes all you need really.
I bought the Doug Audio st 01 pro and so happy with them. I wonder if the sound could be better with another tubes, in that case, which one? By the way, the port USB in could works directly with an external cd drive?
I already own a Fosi T20 fed by a Topping DX3Pro DAC from my computer powering some Elac debut b5.2 speakers and the sound is fantastic, real bargain. You can change the tubes for other models which is supposed to improve the sound, for about £25.
Enjoy your channel. Can’t wait to hear the review on the Klipsch speakers. Would also love to see you revisit your vintage gear and whether you still enjoy/listen to it.
Thank you. I'm so excited to make the Klipsch video and yes, I agree, I need to pull out more vintage gear to discuss. I have a couple of ideas and will hopefully do so soon!
@@ForeverAnalog If you use vintage gear, you should look at the Sabaj A10h headphone amp. I'm using the RCA jacks and it works great as a remote volume control.
The T20 is an integrated amplifier so it has preamp functions, yes. There is only one RCA input though so it doesn't offer the ability to connect more than one RCA source like traditional preamps do.
Any future giveaways… count me in. I’m just beginning my dac and amp venture. Mid-life Crisis 🤷🏻♂️ I have quite a few followers myself whom are into music.
Thank you for the good Informations all packed inside that comparation. I like your way of how you describe everything. I am not native english speaking, your explaination is quiet simple to understand. Thanks a lot.
If anyone reads this - I'm very frustrated with these reviews. My issues are: 1. Only 1 RCA input - both my CD Player and FM Tuner expect to connect with RCAs. 2. Reviewers talk about 'warmth' and not. I want to hear the exact sound that I would hear if I sat in the sweet seat of the Barbican Hall in my home town of London, maybe listening to a world class orchestra and conductor, performing say, Mahler's Symphony No.2 or Beethoven's Symphony No.9. Any able to offer me some advice before I fill my bedroom with Chinese amplifiers and valves (sorry, 'tubes').
Hi there. Yeah, if you need two RCA inputs, these amps are not for you as they are small and lack the size to include more than what is already offered. Also, the expectation of sound reproduction you mention is probably different than what these retailers had in mind for their target consumer. I think it's okay if these amps do not meet everyone's specific tastes, but also note they are very affordable and (at least here in the States) Amazon has generous return policies, should you buy one and it not meet your expectations. I think these affordable class D amps are perfect for beginners who have yet to build a stereo system at home, or perhaps someone who wants a small amp with a lot of power in their office or workshop, which is why I wouldn't go so far as to say it sounds like Barbican Hall (which I would love to visit one day!). It could be you try one out and see if you like it and if not, just return it and maybe look beyond these little class d amps for something that is more suitable to your needs?
I bought a fosi T20 at Amazon, sounded great for two weeks until the bluetooth decided to ga at vacation....returned it via Amazon, and ordered a DOUK audio 01 PRO, that sounded even better with the standard tubes in it, now crossing my fingers if this wil last longer, bottom line, buying chifi is a gamble but when it works very rewarding in giving you very high sound.
I am very sure you need to try these two amplifiers on others speakers. Why? I have the T 20 which to me is only 20 watts per channel and I've measured that exactly. Now as to details. The Aiyilma T9 is way more detailed with beautiful mids
I have the Fosi P1 tube preamp that I am using as a tube buffer in my tape monitor loop. I can instantly switch it in and out with my remote. I honestly cannot hear a difference. That means that it's not distorting anyway. I turned up the bass and it works great for my bass weak headphones.
Really great and insightful review. Sadly I don't do Facebook, nor will I ever. But still I do like the quality of Aiyima products. Wonderful input, from you, into the audio universe. :)
You were spot on with your recognition of the vocals being forward on the T20 and stepped back on the T9 pro. Have you done a review of the Rockville blutube?
@@ForeverAnalog my plan is to build a 2-way bookshelf speaker system with SB Acoustics drivers. SB17MFC35 woofers paired with SB29RDNC tweeters. I want to power them with 2 mini amps (one mini amp per speaker cabinet). Going full active and using my Dayton Audio DSP.
Bluetooth works great. I think adding a WiiM Mini wireless streamer would sound much better, but if you like the sound of Bluetooth, you'll be happy using it on this amp!
Hi John - you were randomly selected as a winner for the T20 - please message Fosi directly through their Facebook page for more info - if you have any issues, please email me at the address on my contact page!
True! But beginners who aren't using Optical and USB and just need RCA, might find they prefer the T20 instead. Just providing some options! Thanks for watching!
@@ForeverAnalog Oh yes, I agree I was only observing that when usually two or more things are compared then their differences usually come down to quality or slight differences in features. The features and lack thereof of these two amps put them into camps that are the poles apart. It's probably better to buy with more features in case you end up wanting to use it with a tv or something down the line. I appreciate your response and just bought the t9 pro - it was between it and the t8 to use with the a07 but maybe later - I already have a fosi da2120c as my first amp with my first pair of nice speakers (q acoustics 3050i) and so want to hear what a cheap tube amp sounds like, notwithstanding from what I understand some claim the tubes don't affect the sound much by warming it up. Well take care :).
"More bass, less treble. More treble, less bass..." Really? That's extraordinary! You could almost be describng the default functionality of tone controls! 🤦♂One other thing. A company offering 4 units as a "giveaway" via your channel (plus a fifth for your good self) is, let's be honest, a form of payment. Your channel benefits, therefore more money comes in. I am not begrudging anyone the chance to make a buck but in my experience the way these far eastern audio brands build their marketing voice, is pretty sly, and frankly, less than honest (ie paid reviews on Amazon.) Be careful my friend, that they don't suck you in.

I joined at both links to enter the draw. Thank you for having it. I have a Fosi DAC that I've been very happy with.
Great to hear!
Done with everything. Please review box X2 phono preamp
I will see if I can get my hands on one. Thank you!
@@ForeverAnalog cool. If possible compare both phono premap from fosi audio box X2 and box X4. I think this both phono preamp blend well with TB10D
Really enjoyed the Fosi DAC Q4 recently, their products lineup seems interesting.
I need to try that DAC out!
My McIntosh mc275 has plenty of low end.
I bet so!!!
I would love to win one of these. This would be my first ever mini amp. Would love to see how it would sound on my bookshelf speakers I'm building.
Awesome - love DIY speaker builds!
@@ForeverAnalog my plan is to build a 2-way bookshelf speaker system with SB Acoustics drivers. SB17MFC35 woofers paired with SB29RDNC tweeters. I want to power them with 2 mini amps (one mini amp per speaker cabinet). Going full active and using my Dayton Audio DSP.
compare to bt20a?
I’ll try to pull out my BT20A and compare but I’m drowning in new gear reviews at the moment lol.
Ciao, hai provato l'ingresso bluetooth? In tal caso cosa ti sembra? Un grazie dall'Italia..🇮🇹
Bluetooth works great. I think adding a WiiM Mini wireless streamer would sound much better, but if you like the sound of Bluetooth, you'll be happy using it on this amp!
Just found you about a month ago and enjoy your content. Followed both links so hope I am signed up…🤷🏻♂️
Thank you!
Hi John - you were randomly selected as a winner for the T20 - please message Fosi directly through their Facebook page for more info - if you have any issues, please email me at the address on my contact page!
@@ForeverAnalog Awesome!! Thank You!
Awesome channel, great job!! 👍
Thank you!
good review and good product
Thank you!
Would love to try one, seem great little amps!
Thank you!
love to see fosi giving a more affordable choice
Ditto!
These two devices are not comparable at all since I need optical in and usb and the T20 does not have these essentials.
Yeah I laughed at myself for describing the tone controls too but couldn’t cleanly edit it out lol.

T9 looks better, has more inputs, more power, a remote.
It's a no brainer compared to the Fosi
