Any rational person can see that they SHOULD make the lifestyle choices they want without ANY expectation of "understanding" or agreement or validation from others. I think a big issue is that many people who identify as vegan don’t actually understand veganism or animal rights. Not just that they think it’s a diet, but they think it’s an animal welfare movement - the movement itself is partly to blame for this with the over focus on “cruelty”.
So when they see Mr Carnivore dieter banging on about grass-fed regen farming, they think they’ve found a way to consume flesh etc that isn’t “cruel”.

  • @jiinglesgreen3869
    @jiinglesgreen3869 Год назад +3

I agree. Complacency and disconnect plays a part in people going back to eating meat again, however it is extremely hard for me to understand why an actual Vegan would do this. The moral and ethical stance a person takes to be a Vegan is strongly rooted in these ideals and is represented by such a powerful realisation about the horrific injustice of animal individuals being slaughtered I cannot understand someone with these principles being able to turn to eating animals again. I do think that people are not truthful and do not become Vegan they just say they are and do it for a diet or popularity or any other reason than that of the animals. My mind cannot and will never forgive myself for being apart of the mass murder of these creatures. The one thing that will always stay with me is the calf's, that had be taken from its mother only hours old, alone in a field, in little huts, only to be farmed for milk to have their babies taken off them and to be killed for meat when they can't produce this commodity for the farmer anymore. This I cannot ever forget. It tares me up inside.

@@jiinglesgreen3869 I think David hit it on the head. Anti-vegan propaganda, lack of support from your inner circle, and lack of information.
If the world was flipped and 99% of the world was vegan and the 1% who aren't were bullied and ostracized like vegans are, no one would start eating animals because their girlfriend broke up with them or whatever.
There also wouldn't be the BS lies about how it's healthy to eat animals. So people wouldn't blame any perceived health issues on it.
And like David said, people need lots of reasons to stay vegan in our culture. Maybe the one will work but we're surrounded with lies all the time telling us the animals aren't mistreated. I can see how eventually someone could tell themselves "it's not as bad as I think."
That's why I think it's important for everyone to know things beyond just animal suffering because we were all raised to ignore it. For example:
89% of dairy operations and 38% of beef operations have cows with leukemia because of unsanitary business practices. And BLV has been found in human blood and breast cancer tissue.
      Cows worldwide have bovine AIDS.
Cows have strep, staph, mastitis, and mycoplasma infections.
Pasteurization does NOT kill all bacteria. Some are guaranteed to survive.
It's LEGAL to feed an animal: urine, feces, growth hormones, cannibalism, antibiotics, and plastic.
Pigs can legally be fed ANY animal.
USDA feel-good labels are all BS.
Zoonotic diseases kills humans. If I buy animal products then I'm literally paying to cause people to die.
Same with antibiotic resistance. For every animal someone buys, they are destroying our modern medicine.
Environmental destruction will pretty much be irreversible in 30 years and it's also anticipated that's about the same time antibiotics will be worthless if we don't change course. I refuse to intentionally cause that.
And then there is good-old apathy which will trump all reasons. They could know everything but if they are apathetic to the point they don't care about their own health, the animals, or even mankind as a whole, then nothing will change their mind. They have to care about SOMEONE to some degree to be vegan.

Great discussion. Some comments: The problem of people leaving is shared by every group; political causes, spiritual groups, chess clubs, musicians getting together, etc. Vegans leaving veganism is no exception. I think it's because there are so many distractions and appeals to our time that all sound legitimate; and that makes it hard to stay focused on a single issue. // The vegan community is a highly contentious one and I suspect this drives people away. In addition, many of the arguments are, imho, poorly thought out. Sometimes the arguments are linked to atheism and nihilism which is not attractive to most people. Sometimes they are linked to technical philosophical arguments that very few people can understand. All of this combines to create an atmosphere that pushes people away. // Re spirituality; it is spiritual groups that have had the strongest long-term commitments to not exploiting animals; I'm thinking of Jains, East Asian Buddhist and Taoist Monasticism, and groups like the 7th Day Adventists. I don't know of any secular, or atheist, community that has been able to sustain a group commitment along these lines. I think modern vegan thought could learn a lot from some of these groups, but they are militantly opposed to doing so. // Again, great discussion. Thanks for posting.

Social pressure, reality! I gave some vegan cook books to a spiritual person. This person is a vegetarian and I have a feeling this person got offended. This individual is a expert in astrology, made sure to point out people had Rahu and Sun conjuncted were hypocritical, as a student I heard this as a way to say the person wasn’t happy with my gift. This person used astrology to attack my character as they were defensive that I gave him 3 plant based cook books, as a gift to say thank you for his teachings. This is a way a thought I could advocate for veganism, now is there choice to follow or not , they have information now, no more excuse or keep ignoring the suffering of animals. Now I’m very discouraged to be a student, as I find it fucked up to use astrology to personally attack people indirectly in class. I actually think if someone is aware of the evil in this world and shame vegans because they shame you. Idk… if they don’t like shame they shouldn’t attack people character like that. I always get disappointed with teachers.

@@robinhood6143 I have personal experience with the Vedic astrology and I have to say that is some very intriguing stuff to be said. Science is something tested many times and comes with a result. Some spiritual science are good but like in many way you can use things to feed your bias and that’s what I found in about everything lately, even scientific research. I do stick being a vegan for the animals and how much that can also improve my inner self practicing compassion is the most spiritual thing one can ever learn, nothing better than being a vegan for my spiritual perspective. As the first book of the Bible teaches to eat strictly vegetarian.. later on because some survival event they had to eat something else now they use that as excuse to continue eating animals.. a lot of spiritual people are vegans, vegans do not have to be atheist to be a true vegan, we need to use common sense. If we start saying only atheist vegans are true vegans, where are we putting veganism? We make it as exclusive to one group. My opinion is that you can be believe in anything that doesn’t harm others. Practice of astrology doesn’t harm anyone or any animals I do not see why people like unnatural vegan has to mix things up. Morals and compassion to other people and animals should be something everyone should strive to be better at. I know true spiritual people that are vegans and also know lazy ass spiritual people that don’t want to do the great work of helping animals. @@davidramms There's barely any structure to the first argument. I'll revise the entire video and listen to specific parts of your arguments, and when I get around to that I'll hit you at your email.

I'd love to hear a debate based on the sustainability of existing on a vegan diet WITHOUT any fake foods with horrible ingredients that do extreme damage to the body.. (beyond burgers with gmo canola turning your cells to plastic rendering phospholipids incapable of receiving /storing electrons etc) but with someone who has taken the time to thoroughly research the electrical body and the importance of measurable electrical life force from real foods ( whether plant based or not).
There are a massive amount of assumptions on both sides of the argument and wayy too much ego (in my opinion) from ppl pushing their beliefs. I personally still lean toward vegan, (not 100%) but would love to be able to reach that in a realistically healthy way once figuring out intestinal / digestive issues that prevented me from maintaining the diet I stuck with for the last 4-5 years.
Would also like to hear a vegan opinion on Dr Bergs latest vid on Iodine deficiency.
