Given the recent paper showing how low individual-level reliability is for most task-based fMRI, it is even more true that with the current technology we can't say anything definite about individuals with fMRI

Great set of videos. Thanks a lot. At 34:00, Could the control condition itself serve as the proof of HRF between groups not being different ? I.e. first we could look to see if the HRF of the two groups to the neutral faces are statistically drawn from the same sample. If that doesnt work then we can go for the HRF to the flash of light .
