    A very good lesson. Indeed, there will be always new words for us to learn. We go from the basic, general words and ideas to the specific ones. Well done, Drew Badger! You’re one my favorite teacher on RUclips. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

      @@MC-bq9dj I am an English teacher and learner☺ It doesn't mean that an English teacher knows everything about English, I do make mistakes and forget certain words when speaking in English but I always have the desire and passion to better my English that's why I'm running my RUclips channel to help me recall the vocabulary better and minimize my being forgetful of certain words 😊 anyway, thanks for your comment! 🙏

      Thank you for your answer, I didn't mean to hurt you personally. But in my country when I learned English at school, the teachers weren't real English speakers. That's why people spoke English very badly. It's much better now. Thanks to social medias! 😊

    I do not know how I found your channel, but after I stopped studying English for about 4 years, today I am back to learning again and rely on your channel completely, your channel provides integrated content for adults and this is a great thing, you may have studied me in the past when I watched your channel I feel something familiar but I don't know what it is, maybe you look like one of my teachers in the past, or you are one of them. Very happy to continue learning English and thank you for the content you provide.

    I posted a status on WhatsApp yesterday. It includes "There's is a fire within you, don't let others DOUSE this fire." I just only knew DOUSE meant to extinguish fire. Thereafter I felt it was not an appropriate word for this and I googled it to know the exact and more detailed meaning. Then I found it means 'to extinguish fire by pouring liquid or water over it'. There was another meaning in Cambridge dictionary 'to douse something means to end it'. Then, I felt it was correct.
    My question is, there are numerous words in English like this having multiple meanings in different contexts. It holds me back sometimes to use or not to use words like this while speaking and writing. Would it be okay if I just don't bother much about this and keep using them in conversation and even in writing or I must be using the correct words made for using in specific contexts especially when I am not sure about their complete, right meanings.

    • @EnglishAnyone
      @EnglishAnyone  Год назад +5

      Yes, you should relax more. :) That's the point of this video. You will hear natives use things in different ways, and there will often be natives who disagree or argue about the use of a word. So the best thing to do is get more review, and look for examples that confirm or deny a usage. If there's a mix of two or more, then you should feel fine using something in one of those ways. If everyone only uses something one way, that's likely best for you, too.
