I wish there was a cross between the disco and the Sierra Design Backcountry. I like the spoon shape and larger hood of the disco and the zipperles quilt and pad sleeve while saving space with no insulation on the back top half.
Ooh, I'd never seen the Backcountry before you mentioned it- that's an AWESOME concept (and love that you can still stick a foot out to thermoregulate)! I agree, a combo of the two would be amazing. There's your million dollar idea!! 😉
Having a 60" hip span, this didn't work for me sadly I felt like a pig in a blanket lol I couldn't move.or barely zip it up. I want to love this bag. I gave it to my daughter and she loves it! I had to switch to a quilt.
I’m really hopeful that we see more options for larger bodies with sleep systems so we don’t have to go to quilts every time (if you don’t want a quilt). Having the right fit for YOUR body is so critical to an enjoyable experience. I hope the quilt is working well for you! I’m glad to hear your daughter loves the Disco, at least! ❤️

Great video! Love love love my Nemo Disco (mine’s the 30 degree). I love the space for sidesleeping. I’ve got a lightweight down blanket that I stuff inside with me for more softness and takes up some dead air space for more warmth if needed. Also, bc I have a single walled tent and I’m condensation-phobic on my down, I can throw a lightweight synthetic quilt on top, for some warmth and to save my down from getting wet. Take care!
Great tip on the down blanket! I have one from Get Out Gear that they sent me that would be good for something like what you've described. I do the same thing with the synthetic quilt (well, old 50° sleeping bag) when it's gonna be cold. It does a good job. I'm glad you love the Disco! It's a great bag if you don't sleep like a mummy and want a bag over a quilt.
@@WanderingSwitchback yes, not only am I a side sleeper, I also toss and turn so much, and the Nemo Disco still feels comfortable. Keep up the great content, thanks!

@@WanderingSwitchback ruclips.net/video/uxnD1VpJKfw/видео.html right at this point we can see the inside zipper. i think you are correct to say its a newer model
@@Beau_Guerrier it looks like that's the Forte, which is another Nemo model, so it may be on there, but not on the Disco. It also looks like this is a brand new version of the Forte, a 100% recycled version, which is wonderful! Perhaps they'll be doing something similar with the Disco? Time will tell!
Just curious about the issues you had with the Sidewinder. As I understand it, when you toss around the Disco, you toss around _inside_ it, while with the Sidewinder you toss around _with_ it. Same would apply with knees, if you bend them in the Sidewinder, the whole bag bends with them, while in the Disco, they stay inside. So I'm guessing the issue was with not being able to bend one knee at a time, or not being able to spread the knees, would that be correct? And follow up question, watching videos of the Sidewinder, I like how it "hugs" the top half of the body. How does that compare with the Disco in terms of warmth? I'm a cold sleeper and need the top of my spine to be as warm as possible.
Part of my issue with the Sidewinder was that as a stomach sleeper, my back was cold. I had also purchased a short, which was definitely too short, and my toes hurt from it (user error there). And, as you said, since I sleep with my legs apart, the Sidewinder was still too narrow in the knees for me. I've been using a quilt more lately, and it's an even better fit for how I sleep (mine is a UGQ Bandit). I hope that helps some! 🙂
@@WanderingSwitchback Thanks, that's very helpful. I actually just ordered the Nemo Riff, the slightly more compact version of the Disco. Being able to bring just one knee up is really important to me too.

I always carry ten hour hand warmers to use in the foot of the bag to battle moisture issues with the foot of my sleeping bag and to dry out me boots overnight 👍
Great ideas! I could keep my head lamp in there- might be better than leaving it out like I do. I have rechargeable hand warmer I take on cold trips, and it can be a nice bonus inside my bag. Down booties are nice, too!
Look at the series Sea to Summit has. I’ve found, after using a couple, they really only add about 1/3 of the claimed warmth, but they do make a difference. The Thermolite Reactor Extreme is the warmest they offer, so I’d go with that one. I don’t have that specific model, but a couple of other Reactor liners. I hope that helps!
Good question, I don't have any personal experience with Zenbivy, so I can't really speak to it. I've heard they have great products. I believe their sleep system is heavier than this, but also more versatile. I know that may not be super helpful!
My son has the 15 degree Disco (tall male version as he's over 6ft) and loves it. He had to add a blanket when we were actually sleeping in 15 degrees, but it was just a cheap fleece blanket. He is a side sleeper and the time we shared a tent, he accordioned up and was just as comfortable as could be. I have a Zenbivy and love it as well. Sleeping bags make me feel claustrophobic when I'm cinching down the hood and then try and roll in the bag. The Zenbivy, I can tuck my head under the hood and "pull the covers up" and still feel like I can move about just fine. You can also control the sense of tightness by clipping it in or leaving it loose. The quilt by itself seems to weigh about the same as most quilts on the market, it's the sheet with the hood and side shield that makes it heavier. We've never switched bags though, so I can't give you an absolute comparison.
It still takes up about half of my pack. I don't usually use the compression sack, so that it can take up the nooks and crannies better, and fit around my bear canister. I do, however, often use a 55L compression sack/pack liner, so it goes inside there. Not sure how helpful that is! 😂
I was hoping you might get INSIDE the bag and share your thoughts re how the bag shape does or does not align with YOUR shape. Did you buy reg or long? What is it like to move around in the bag? You know, something that cannot be readily surmised by reviewing the mfg website.
Mine is a regular length (I’m 5’4”). I did demonstrate myself laying inside, as well as my position, to show how it fits my shape, but thank you for the feedback about actually moving in it. I will keep that in mind for future reviews. 🙂 I’m able to get my knee *almost* as high as I’d like. Moving in it goes better than a more snug fit, but going side to side, sometimes the hood does get misaligned. Since I’m a stomach sleeper, the hood isn’t as useful to me. I hope that helps!

Hey there! 👋 Could you do a video of you getting in this bag and how much room you have? (Maybe you have already and I missed it 😅) I'm considering getting this specific bag but worried it might not be the right size for me😬I'm needy and I don't want a small bag lol 😂😂
Hi! The measurements should be available online, but I've actually started using a quilt now, and I like how much more roomy it is. It's not the right option for everyone, but it's another one to consider. I have this video about why I like it here: ruclips.net/video/b9sxM0eoyP4/видео.html But if you're going with a bag, one of Nemo's spoon-shaped bags is the way to go!
The Riff would be similar, except that the down is a higher fill power, meaning it's a little lighter and more compressible for the same warmth. I hope that helps!
One other thing to note is that the Riff has smaller proportions. So if your a bigger person (like me), you may want that extra space. Its not much but it could count. It also has the "Ultralight Spoon" shape vs the "Classic Spoon" shape of the Disco. All in all, that boils down to more room in the Disco vs the Riff.
Good point. I have found it's much easier to move around in this bag compared with other bags I've used. Not quite as easy as a quilt, but definitely roomier. Not sure if that's super helpful or not! 😊

It also has the "Ultralight Spoon" shape vs the "Classic Spoon" shape of the Disco. All in all, that boils down to more room in the Disco vs the Riff.
Lol "girl pocket"... And all us women immediately knew exactly what you meant!
Haha, right? We all know the struggle!!!!!
I can’t find one video of anyone getting in this sleeping bag and tossing around.
Good point. I have found it's much easier to move around in this bag compared with other bags I've used. Not quite as easy as a quilt, but definitely roomier. Not sure if that's super helpful or not! 😊
Great review. You should come work @ REI
Haha, thanks, Bruce! It was a dangerous job for my wallet when I worked there 10 years ago, and I suspect it would be even more so now! But I do miss always talking to people about their adventures and helping them get their gear in order. It’s a fun place to work!
Big....OR if you are a tossing, turning, side sleeping maniac😜
Yes! The super tight nature of a mummy bag is the enemy of the mobile sleeper!!
It looks like a mummie bag 😅
It’s definitely similar, but lots more room to get comfortable.
