Regarding performance after update, Xiaomi is first brand which focuses on performance over battery life. I have used realme GT Neo 3t, after updates it became like 695 processor and battery lasts only 4 hours. Compared to the my experience with Xiaomi is miles better. Even my friends poco x4 pro is running superbly without any issue for almost 2 years

Currently using realme GT Neo 3t. The security patch update don't came every month. The security patch update will come once in every 2-3 months and about the android update they will come but not as fast as you get on other brands like Samsung and OnePlus. Hope this helps.
