Just started using this on my Netgear Nighthawk three days ago. The detected signal strength on my Nighthawk remained the same, 2 of 5 bars which is typical and why be bought this antenna in the first place, but there is a noticeable increase in bandwidth. Page load times are at least slightly (~20%) faster. Streaming video is more consistent/stable and tends to play at a higher resolution than it did just last week. We didn't go from the equivalent of dial-up to T1, but we did go from marginal to very acceptable. You are very correct about this being a Bi-Directional vs. Omni-Directional antenna. Placement is key, as you say. In my experience, it was well worth the $27.50 we paid for it on Amazon.
Correct me if I’m wrong. To my understanding the nighthawk being a 4x4 MIMO would need one antenna for each of the 4 frequency ranges?? If that is the case, then having two ports seems weird.
I just bought the Netgear 6000450 MIMI Antenna. I tested it at home an O M G it worked great, I will update you on how it works at our RV Park this weekend.
Spoke with a Mobley user yesterday. Apparently the Mobley has an external antenna port. Only thing is, the housing needs a small hole drilled into it to be able to plug in.
FYI: after being out of stock for months, Amazon is now showing they will be stocking the Netgear Mimo antenna again as of March 12, 2019. looks like it is selling for $28
Finally got mine and I only get less than half of the speeds you showed which is only a couple mb/s higher than not even using it. At least my ping and jitter have improved quite a bit. Thanks for the video!
Keep in mind that there are many variables when comparing their performance to yours. The main ones are direction (if it's positioned to face the tower perfectly), distance from the antenna, the surface it's attached to (some glass has additives which can filter out radio waves), the equipment's sensitivity it's attached it, etc. So as you can see if ANY one of those variables is not optimal, you won't get the high gains you're expecting. Try to be realistic, radio waves are a funny bunch. ;)
Netgear says they have no idea when these will be back in stock. Amazon has some in the 90 to 190 range when you factor in shipping. What else do you recommend for the 8800L from Verizon? Thanks
I have a Verizon "Ellipsis JetPack MHS815L". It has (I think) two "undocumented" antenna ports - which are called test points. These units should be pretty common as Verizon seems to have great coverage. Any info about this unit and the Netgear MIMO?
Hello! Thanks for all the great ressources!!! I have the new Nighthawk 5G... Just noticed that Netgear introduced a new antenna similar to this one but dedicated to 5G. Unfortunately its not available in North-America... You think this antenna you are presenting will be compatible with the new Nighthawk 5G?? Keep up the awesome job!!!!
It should work fine with the Nighthawk 5G or any hotspot with antenna ports. We will do a full review for our members once they become available in North America.
I have a nighthawk M1 and am loving it. I am curious if this antenna will help with picking up a WiFi signal that I can use with the data offloading feature to save on cellular data
I just ordered it from Amazon yesterday so looks like it’s back. I have Verizon plan with unlimited data on our iPhones. We have not purchased a jet pack yet. Wondering if I can connect this to my iPhone and use the phone as the hotspot.
Where can I buy it for $30. Amazon has it for approx. $65 plus. Also, Where can I find adapters to boost signal directly on my Cell ( Google 6 Pro & iPhone 12 Max)
The antenna's price has increased... and phones don't have antenna ports to use this external antennas like this. These are meant for use with hotspots.
I just found this video and was about to order this antenna and the Netgear LB1120 LTE modem but, the antenna is no longer available at Amazon or several other retailers. We need a good alternate or maybe there is a newer version of it?
Why does an AT&T tower (close to me) only have 12m down on data? I am getting 6m down about 5-6 miles away so I took my Netgear MR1100 modem and laptop about 1/2 mile from the tower and only get 12 down there. My T Mobile gets 25-40 about the same distance away and well over 50 up close.
thanks for the video. I have one of these and have a MOFI 4500. Do you know if there is an adapter I can use to connect this TS9 to the SMA antenna ports on the MOFI 4500? Thanks!
I do not have a JetPack or a MiFi but I am looking to boost campground signals when parked at a campsite. Can this do that and, if so, can I attach it to a laptop or smart phone? If it cannot, do you recommend other equipment that can be used to boost public, campground WiFi signals?
Hmmmm, now I have to go home and check and see if my little MHS700L has antenna ports. The manual says it does but I don't remember seeing them. Are these going to be line of sight or will they act like a booster too? I understand gain and I think you know what I mean. Thanks so much. I am Grateful.
The reason I ask is there is a tower down in the valley down below my place. No cell at my place and just wonder if I pointed it down the hill,...... Guess I will just have to try it and find out. At that price even if it doesn't work I can try it somewhere else. And yes my MHS700L does have ports. Under little tiny rubber plugs. One of which I managed to drop on the floor. Took me 15 minutes to find it.
@@slimbeaux thx for your response yeah im in florida now way to many giant oak trees down her have about 100 in a 360 all around me sucks how this has been a problem for years hopefully one day they can have everywhere covered lol but thats just a thought
HI. So can mimo along with a mobile router connect to my (unlimited) cellular data signal via AT&T or Verizon (if signal is strong enough of course) OR do I need to subscribe to another data service?
Mobile Internet Resource Center Does that hotspot youre holding in the vid support both at&t and verizon? also, no wifi ranger is needed for this setup, right?
Hi everyone :) I`m planning to buy the NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 (MR6150), 5G Router & I would like to attach the Netgear 6000451 External 5G MIMO SMA/TS9 Antenna to it. Is anyone know are they compatible together? I would like to boost it up to the highest level as much as possible to have strong net everywhere. Greetings from Austria :)
The Nighthawk M6 has dual TS9 antenna ports. Just keep in mind, internally it has 4 antennas, so two would be cut off when using external antennas with it, which reduces it from 4x4 to 2x2 MIMO.
Nope. It's a cellular antenna, your computer knows nothing about it. It needs to be aimed towards the cellular tower you're wanting to connect to, and plugged into your cellular data device. Your computer then connects to the cellular device.
I guess since I am using a Jetpack 6620L with one antenna port it is not MIMO and therefor this puppy would not help. I will find an alternative. Next stop...rvmobileinternet.com...

I bought this antenna last year for a trip to Europe and Nepal and it worked great. I'm really happy with the purchase.
It's now $60 😅
I still ordered it because the reviews are phenominal.
I just received mine. It's funny that it has doubled in price.

the bad thingabout it is the cable , just if i can replace it with another cable, not sure if i can

No, this is a cellular antenna. For Wi-Fi, you'd need Wi-Fi gear.
Hmmm wonder if a ts9 extension cable is available, then I could open window and put it up on the roof of rv for even better reception.
That would add to significant signal loss, and negate the gain.
Even if I only extened it say 3-4 ' Thanks for the reply and great vids.
The connectors and extra wire would each add loss. Might be worth trying to see if it gives you want you need.
Oh ok,Thanks.

How does one find the nearest cell towers to point to?
Best to aim, test, repeat.
What an I do if I am in a industrial building with a roof that is 170ft high?
Then this device would not be a good choice for you. We are focused on mobile, not stationary setups.

A lot of things impact the actual speeds you get: www.rvmobileinternet.com/cellsignal
The tower is very slow though.
can you add an extender section of cable? low loss?
It's not recommended.
thanks for the video. I have one of these and have a MOFI 4500. Do you know if there is an adapter I can use to connect this TS9 to the SMA antenna ports on the MOFI 4500? Thanks!
Yes, there are adapters available on Amazon, eBay and specialty retailers.

This is specifically a cellular antenna. For Wi-Fi, you'd need gear specific for that. Here's our guide: www.rvmobileinternet.com/wifi
Does it have to be mounted to a window? Would it work if mounted to a wall? Could it be mounted outside (is it weather-safe)? Thanks for the video!
It claims to be weather safe.. but I wouldn't trust it for too long of a time.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Thank you! How about inside against a wall? Our interior walls are just about as flat and rigid as glass.
Depends the wall's construction - remember, some materials (like metal) block signal.
Do you recommend this antenna for the Jetpack 8800L?
It is compatible.
Do you have any old ones for sale?
We do not sell gear.
Great Vid! Does anybody know how to identify the direction of your nearest cell phone tower? is there an app or something?
There are no truly reliable public databases for cell towers - however, the opensignal app and cellmapper.net can sometimes be useful.
Also check our video on this channel about aiming directional antennas.. always best to test.

The antenna is directional - you'll want to aim it in the general direction of the tower.

@@soothingsounds406 no it didn't. Guess there were too many trees in the way. Being directional it must like line of sight.

My Verizon Jetpack MiFi only has one antenna port, will the MIMO still work with it?
Nope
Device with 2x2 MIMO need 2 antenna ports
Do you know of anyone modifying the 8800 l so the other two antenna ports can be used externally ?
Haven't seen anyone doing that, but we don't track non -stock too closely.
I used an app that was able to tell me I had a small 2g signal. Could this allow me to get a better speed out of a nighthawk m1.
Perhaps
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Thx, I think I'll try it out.
HI. So can mimo along with a mobile router connect to my (unlimited) cellular data signal via AT&T or Verizon (if signal is strong enough of course) OR do I need to subscribe to another data service?

Could the antenna be defective ? Because I still get one bar of signal on my att unite pro.

Does anyone know if you can connect this MIMO antenna to a cell phone?
No, cell phones don't have antenna ports.

They don't have any hotspots they sell directly with antenna ports.

Does it matter what network provider is used when selecting the MIMO ready hotspot, jet pack?
Yes.. absolutely. Our guide: www.rvmobileinternet.com/hotspots
I am sensing that this antenna needs line of site with my computer to operate correctly. Is that true?
Nope. It's a cellular antenna, your computer knows nothing about it. It needs to be aimed towards the cellular tower you're wanting to connect to, and plugged into your cellular data device. Your computer then connects to the cellular device.
