Also having master bedroom on first floor is again something they are incorporating now here in America due to good health and people living longer and having elderly parents live with you. Normally we don’t have master bedrooms on first floor.
I think you need to visit other states in America as houses do have basements. Maybe limited in Florida due to hurricanes but other states have homes with basements.

The house is actually not that spacious and the backyard too is relatively small (and not private). Looks like typical estate style generic neighborhood. Ceilings are high but the rest of the fittings likes doors etc are the bog standard hollow core style. If this house really is 3 mio CAD, than Canada housing market is pretty bad value for money. Which is why many ppl want to flee from Canada to USA for such reasons.
Sure not everyone but many do. Even in larger US cities like NY, LA and Chicago such a house will be much cheaper than 3 mio and there are more job opportunities with higher salaries.
