Decent apartment this one. Kitchen, bathroom and living/bedroom are separated which is a big plus. Loads of light and aeration. This should be the standard for Micro Apartments.
A very nice apartment. The entrance is rather tight though. There’s a nice bathroom but sigh… no toilet paper storage unless you use the space under the sink. The actual bath is spacious and you can dry clothes as well. The living area is so bright, two lovely big windows for ventilation. The shutters should block out some heat during summer. The rent is very reasonable, yes, another winner!
This apartment looks wonderful. So much space in the living room. I also like the bathroom and the kitchen. Everything fits perfectly and the rent is also reasonable. In my opinion, this is the best apartment of them all till now. Very good.
I like this place a lot. Offers privacy and if you open window there is some greenery to look at. The bathroom was comfortable and you can put a bed and desk In the main space. It's got a closet too. Yes I could live in this place without feeling so confined and there is a park nearby 😊😊😊
There is one more thing I noticed but I wanted to think about it. When you opened the storm shutters to one window and looking out I thought I saw a bar for hanging clothes 😊
I like this apartment. The kitchen is seperated from the living area, and there is a proper wash basin in the toilet. The living area is square, so planning the furniture layout is easy. As there already is a built-in closet, and space are already allocated for both washing machine and fridge, there are less things to worry about when planning the furniture layout.
I travel to Japan often for work. Of all the business hotel rooms and micro apts I have seen, this has the best layout for around 200 sqft. The added door between the kitchen and main room is icing on top. I think this is as good as it gets for 200 sqft.
Really nice, IMO. One of my favorite parts of these videos is when you put the little furniture models down. Especially liked the giant rolls of toilet paper in the closet, LOL!
The separation of the living and cooking space is great. The door allows one to get a sudden openness feeling after the tight kitchenette area..even if the open space is very small. It puts the mind into a more calm state. Plus, murphy beds are awesome and can be part of a couch and storage system that just folds down to sleep. I also like a sofa sleeper or klik-klak but they require making the bed every night before sleeping.
This is one of the better micro apartments you have shown, Usui. I notice that there seem to be more sensible ones on the market now, with realistic storage options and room for things like a washer and a fridge accounted for. I love the seperate bathing area with a tub. This one does seem to be quite private and that's lovely.
I like having the kitchen and living area separate, it makes it feel bigger to me... The really strong fan over the stove and the vent should hopefully mean that your whole home wont stink when you cook, either
I really like this one. In Taiwan there are many small studio apartments (called tàofáng 套房 here) about this size, such as my own which is 23.2 sqm/250 sqft, including a small balcony. However, so many of them have no kitchen area, and 99.9% have a shower only, no bathtub. Japan seems to put a nice emphasis on including a cooking area and often a tub, so I would live in this place in a heartbeat.
Nice apartment. Everything is functional and logically laid out. I think 15sqm to 20sqm is the sweet spot for microapartments. Anything bigger and it's no longer a microapartment, and anything smaller you have to make too many compromises.
This is my favorite apartment! It's beautiful, well-illuminated, and well-distributed. It's comfortable and offers privacy. It also provides a cozy feeling.
I LOVE this apartment! Having all the green plants outside the windows, instead of seeing just the wall of another building, is awesome!! The safety shutters are nice too, and so is the closet, and having space for a fridge, and the bathtub being separate from the toilet WITH a dryer and hanging rod for laundry. And the price is good, if you don't mind the longer commute. What a perfect little apartment!
This place is perfect honestly I don't think it gets better with micro appartements, and the price is very decent. It has everything: a separate kitchen, a separate bathroom with shower and bathtub, space for washing machine and fridge, separate bed room / lounge that's filled with light and spacious enough for a bed, a desk and a lounge area, on top of that a large cupboard for storage. And it's first floor; you have access to the little terrace outside easily even if not from the inside. The security devices are provided too. You get ventilation and ac. This scores every thing for a very decent price. If I were you, I'd jump on the occasion. I think the location (not Tokyo) helps getting better housing for a better price, 30mins from Tokyo in train is a great deal with the station being 6mins away on foot.
I like this apartment, there is very little wasted space. The soft focus green plants (bamboo?) outside the windows is very soothing. It's very interesting to learn that Murphy beds are not available in Japan. If anything, I'd assume Japanese designers would take the Murphy bed concept and perfect it with Japanese ingenuity. However, Murphy beds do need to be installed and attached to the wall studs, perhaps Japanese building codes doe not make that easy to accomplish. I really enjoy your videos!
This may be the nicest apartment yet. It is a bit far out, but you make up for it with more space and lots of features. The unfinished floor storage is also a big win. Once you take out the trash and vacuum, there is a lot of space to store seasonal items, bulk food, etc... Thank you for sharing Usui-san.
I am becoming more hopeful as we see new builds. This micro apartment has been arranged thoughtfully. While in the US we are unfamiliar with an entrance that begins with the bathroom, washing machine and continues through the kitchen area, I have noticed this arrangement is more common in Japan, even in larger apartments. I like seeing a shower/tub combination with a vanity area for the wash basin, even if small, rather than the only sink being in the kitchen. The living space is large, a rectangle with an open space of about 100 square feet, so the bed, desk, comfortable chair and television can all be accommodated. Unlike many other apartments, there is a closet, which means there is no need to have a freestanding wardrobe. There is abundant light from the windows, frosted for privacy on the first floor. I like that out the window I see the bright green of the bamboo behind the fence of the next property. I wish the shoe cupboard were a little wider to use the horizontal space and extended to the ceiling with shelves in the the upper part to make best use of the space. A cupboard or shelves should be installed above the washing machine so that space is better utilized for storage of laundry products etc. In the bathroom there is wasted space, so shelves above the toilet could hold toilet paper, towels and other necessary items. I wish the vanity mirror were a medicine cabinet to hold skincare, dental care, etc. This kitchen has room to cook, so I might find a removable cutting board that fits over the gas burners, to make a flat space for food preparation. I would have continued the upper kitchen cabinets above the space for a small/medium refrigerator that would still have space on top for a microwave or air fryer and rice cooker. I love imagining how these apartments can be arranged to make enjoyable and comfortable places to live.
Agiles6484: You and I think similarly. I was thinking about an étagère, a shelf/cabinet that is made to sit over the toilet to offer storage space above it. There is plenty of room in this bathroom for that, and it wouldn’t interfere with the vent. That vent may be why they didn’t install a cupboard there. I don’t think the narrowness of the shoe cupboard is a problem. You could store an umbrella in that narrow spot by the door, or maybe a broom. Not as nice as having it fully enclosed, but still usable space. I would also put one of those dish drainer / storage racks over the sink, since they didn’t do that for you. There’s not a lot of space above, so some of them might not fit. But I think you could find one that would, which would save the counter space for food preparation. I agree that it would have been nice to add storage over both the washer and the fridge, but those could be added by the tenant as well, at least in an open shelving version. The unfinished underfloor storage was funny, and I laughed when you stopped the music then, Usui! 😂 The closet is surprisingly small inside compared to what it looks like from the front. I hope there is plumbing back there or something. It would be disappointing if they had just enclosed empty space that was otherwise useable. Overall, a nice apartment for the price, and fairly well designed. I wish I could find something as reasonable here in the US!
I like the door between the living area and entry area/ bathroom. Fix the bathroom underfloor storage and it'll be a cute place. If command hooks are allowed, maybe a wicker basket can be hung for toilet paper rolls (I have such a set up in my kitchen for small tools for my rice streamer.
Your trip to Nitori had me googling for storage options. There are free standing multi-tiered shelving for washers and toilets available at Wayfair. Some come with a counter top and some come with cabinets. It might not fit in the washer space of that particular apartment because that space is walled in but it would fit the toilet. You could place it over the washer at your current apartment. That's the benefit, if it doesn't fit one space, put it over the other. This would give you added shelf space without drilling holes in the wall which I know you're not permitted to do, and without taking up precious floor space. There are also expandable shelves that you could place in that walled space for the washer. The under floor storage is doable, it just needs to be cleaned.
Firstly, ground floor apartment yeah!! New build and nice bathroom despite the oddly rough floor storage area. Guess you could put a small storage container down there (?). The closet is deep though not wide, so that's not too bad. I really like the shutters though, just in case you have disagreeable weather. The rent is amazing for the space and I think a single person could live there quite comfortably.
@@usui503 thank you! I heard Japan can have some pretty extreme weather. I lived in a state here in the US that had hurricane's and shutters were extremely important there too. I do hope this apartments shutters never have to be tested. Stay safe Usui and beautiful Japan!🙏. Keep those videos going!
Very good price for the commodities and being a new flat. The window metal blind in the outside is quite good. Looking forward to our next video. 🍀 PS: the floor hatch in the bathroom, I believe is not for storage but to have access to the pipes and electrical.
8:45 - 8:52 The underfloor storage is located in a weird space: outside the shower and right next to the toilet. And, it is unfinished as well! Even if it is cleaned up and polished, I personally still wouldn't store "daily goods" there, due to the fact that it is right next to the toilet. I noticed that there is no storage space for toilet paper above the toilet. If they would clean it up and finish the work, the underfloor storage could be an ideal place for Usui-san to store toilet paper. 😄 14:56 That is a reasonable arrangement of the furniture. One thing I would add to is that, since you want to put a TV stand by the windowless wall, try to get a multi-functional, extendable TV stand with drawers that you can both use as storage and TV stand. That wall is 3.7 meters long. It would be a waist of the space if you just put a small TV stand there. Or, if you think that there is already enough storage space for this micro-apartment and that you don't need more, you can put a computer desk next to the TV stand. I noticed that in the micro-apartment you currently live in, there is a desk that serves as your workstation, but furniture the arrangement shown at 14:57 did not consider a workstation. This micro-apartment measures 2.7 meters wide. I don't think you would be able to have an armchair and a coffee table as shown. You may be able to keep the armchair but not the coffee table. Hers are some suggestions: the side where you put the armchair measures 3.7 meters long. With the bed - which is about 90 centimeters wide - where it is, there is still 2.8 meters of empty space. Besides the armchair, why don't you consider a small dining table as well? 😉 The suggestions above are completely my opinions, but they would allow you to have a dining area, living area, workstation, and sleeping area -- all in this 18.83 squared meters micro-apartment. When it comes to dealing with compact space, it is all about utilizing every squared inch and meeting the user's priorities. The rent -- $435 USD per month -- is very reasonable. Besides, another nice thing about this apartment is that, there is space, a metal fence, and lots greeneries between it and the neighboring buildings. That ensure proper privacy. I will recommend renting this apartment. Thanks for sharing!
The apartment is nice. The living room is easy enough to furnish comfortably. I like how you set up the living room. Pity there wasn’t toilet paper storage in the restroom. ☹️ In general, there was some storage throughout the apartment and plenty of light. Your reaction to the unfinished floor storage space was funny… and relatable. 😅 You always entertain us through these tours. I also love seeing the flowers and trees in the area. Just beautiful.
I really like this apartment, I also laughed because I'm still using a computer desk that I purchased from Nitori almost 16 years ago. It's surprisingly durable!
Other than the non-existing floor storage, The apartment is basically perfect and the rent for it is incredible. I would LOVE to live in a place like that.
This one is very nice, but maybe 30 mins to Shinjuku suits some people more than others. Perhaps the hatch in the bathroom is for access to the pipes rather than storage? They certainly could have cleaned it up better.
I find this apartment fantastic for this price. I thought it will cost 600 or 700 € but I think the distance to the city center is too large. I also like the environment. It looks a bit rural. The best for me is that there is a door between the room and kitchenette and bathroom. A terrace would be perfect but maybe in summer someone can sit a little bit outside when nobody looks. 😅 I would place the furniture different than you did in the video. I would place the bed with the head at the wall where you placed it with the feet and where the fridge stands I would place a chair or small sofa (one seat) on the other side of the wall in the room if you know what I mean. So you only kust go around the corner to grab a cool drink. 😅 Then a small table in front of the chair/sofa and at the end of the bed a small bookshelf. Where the shoe rack stands I also would place a small shelf if you can do this. There is too much space spoiled. On front of the other window I would place a chair and a writing desk and that's it. 😊 Definitely one of the best apartments and in my top 3. Only the 30 minutes to Shinjuku are a bit long but the environment looks very nice and if there are enough shops and restaurants I would not miss Shinjuku. 😊 I always begin to dream of a new apartment when I watch these videos. 😅
This is my perfect micro-apartment!! A 2-burner gas stove top, nice and bright, very roomy for a micro, bathroom too! If I were younger, I would retire there!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂
I think this is the best one you have shown us so far. I agree that curtains would be better than the frosted glass which is horrible. I think the owner could have easily included a French window for access to a small deck. 30 minutes to Shinjuku is great for this price. What about your desk though? You can buy a Murphy bed that transform into desk/table. This would be a great option in this apartment.
Actually I live like that now. A small Kit/LR combo with a separate tiny bath. I eat my meals at my work desk. Due to a Medical condition that requires I sleep in a partial upright position, I gave up my bed a year ago and am very happy sleeping on my couch each night. I even manage to get 2 small dogs and a cat in there with me. I call it cramped but cozy.
A really nice apartment. The price is fair, the location is quiet and the living space is spacious because the washing machine can be placed in a space-saving manner. The landlord would have to inspect and finish the underfloor storage in the bathroom. Your layout of the furniture is good and with skill you can even fit a desk and an office chair in. My compliments, you always find apartments in a beautiful environment within the Kanto area, Usui-san. 😊
Kawasaki was a nice change of scenery & I thought this was a very nice spacious apartment 😊 I really liked how the kitchen & bathroom were separated from the living area by a door. I always do my own cheer if there is a bathroom dehumidifier 🙌🎉😄 even though there is no terrace it is nice to get the borrowed view of the neighbour’s bamboo 🌱🌱🌱👀 the shutters would be great security if you are Home Alone 😅
I like the American-style bathroom (toilet, shower, and real sink in one room, but Japanese-sized), and the closet, which seems like a very indulgent size for a micro apartment.
Nice apartment. It reminds me of the 1R I used to live in many years ago. The space beneath the floor looks more like utilities access rather than storage, but a few containers can be placed there. You will need some knitted toilet roll covers to store on top of the toilet tank. 😅
Murphy bed isn’t common in the US either! But they can be cool. I need a genkan in my house!! Gas in the kitchen! Nice!! Nice bathroom/toilet. I like the wall paper. And the shower door instead of a curtain. Decent storage too! You can get an over toilet storage rack. And the dryer in the bathroom, perfect! The main room is excellent! Do a day bed with storage and you can have room for a dresser and a desk if you like. Shutters for typhoon! I like this very much! Pretty area seems like a bit of a commute though. ❤
HI Usui, thank you for sharing this micro apartment. I really like this one, good size and shape that you can do many ways of furniture arrangement. The two sides with windows are already a luxury, i just wish there is a window in the toilet. i think the price is somewhat similar to my country, seeing that there is already the basic utilities and fixture installed.
The double windows in the bedroom area is so nice! I always love corner apartments, because you can get light from multiple angles, and also you can open both for a cross-breeze.
Suggestion for toilet paper storage, if there is a flat topped tank: I use a rectangular trash bin, that just fits on the tank lid. It can hold 6 rolls. I've seen shorter ones that can hold a 4 pack.
hahahaha - after you explained to me in a different comment (the micro apartment with the sliding glass door) that there is not much crime to worry about, I was feeling much better about the situation. Now in this apartment, the builder put sturdy shutters on the windows to keep out any potential criminals. 😂 I am happy that you mentioned in this video that there is little crime. It made me smile! I love your videos and appreciate the great view on life they offer (as well as the excellent music)! You have a fan here in New Jersey.
I really like this one! I'd put some portable steps up to a window and others on the other side and take over the outside area. Love the Lantana shots (second flower) - they practically take over Houston in the summer.
I think Murphy beds wouldn't be popular in Japan because of the wall mounting and earthquakes. It's so tiny! I love it. Tiny entry, shoe storage, decent kitchen area, cozy toilet/bath with good laundry dryer, decent sized closet. I'd have a small refrigerator and put a counter on top of it with shelves above. Bunk bed, desk under bed, sofa opposite closet, protection TV. Yeah, I like it.
I would also get a loft bed to make double use of the same floor space. Put it along the longest wall (where the TV stand is) to block the light as little as possible. Plus many loft beds offer some storage shelves as part of the support structure so you wouldn't need that unfinished underfloor storage as much. With a larger monitor on the desk, you can use that for a TV also, so there's room for a comfy chair and small table.
This is one of my favorites I've seen. A camp/portable chair eiggt outside one of the windows would be perfect. A sofa chair or recliner chair also, instead of a regular bed, would allow a little more space, although this is larger and has the space.
Thank you for showing a little bit of the Nitori store. I must go in one when I am bac in Japan soon. I really like the look of the apartment building from the outside. The inside was ok, but maybe the top floor would have a nice view from the windows? - Marc - from Georgia, USA
We use Murphy beds in our (small, British) house. Our bedroom has a large double that has a sofa hidden underneath when it folds up, to turn the master bedroom into a living room space. Our kids room has Murphy bed bunkbeds and a separate single Murphy bed that both have desks when the beds are folded up. They are really useful, but even with counterweight systems, can be a bit heavy if you aren’t very strong.
👋 Usui ! Very nice micro. Love the windows in the living area and is a first floor 🎉. Good space distribution. Enough space for a person to live comfortably there. 👍🏻 👍🏻
Very nice apartment for being small But had so many nice features Love floors and secured windows Thank you for sharing it Take care and see you in next video ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I liked this apartment; it has a lot of light and I can see the living room space working well. The place looked nice. I liked the trip to the furniture store at the start of the video and also the stop in the park. The flowers look so lovely. A great video 😊
I think this is a lovely place for the price, my friend! I love that you can open both windows and get a nice crosswind. I’m sure you could probably put a little chair outside and create a fake terrace! 🎉
It's just big enough to fit everything without a loft. Yeah. Hopefully a way to store things in the toilet area and above the washer could be figured out, because storage is really limited. But it is livable.
This is a nice apartment. If the underfloor storage is not completed I would buy a plastic storage box to put there. Toilet paper could then be kept in the storage box or in the cupboard under the basin. The main room is a good size with plenty of options. Even though there is no terrace, I would keep a folding chair to take outside with a book and coffee. Thank you Usui for sharing this nice apartment. 8.5/10
I think its super cute! But I would not put a TV Stand in it. I would keep the chair, and in place of the TV stand I would put a desk/office chair. Then behind the desk I would put a projector screen that comes down so I could watch movies in the chair when I want. Best of all worlds! :D
When the music stopped is exactly how i felt when I saw the unfinished floor storage. LOL
I busted out laughing, and scared my cat. 😂

Funny how a shoes box is so important in Japan/Korea. We just have racks or dump them in the closet where I live 😅.
The best one you shown us!
Nice, I like that there is a door between the kitchen and the living room.

I really like that the living and sleeping area has a door. It is a nice size for furniture placement.😊
Small, but you can see the hangings arranged in such a way that it can be practically used to arrange something.
Thanks for your comment!🥰
In Japan, typhoons come in the summer. So shutters are very important.🌀☔️
PS: the floor hatch in the bathroom, I believe is not for storage but to have access to the pipes and electrical.
14:56 That is a reasonable arrangement of the furniture.
The suggestions above are completely my opinions, but they would allow you to have a dining area, living area, workstation, and sleeping area -- all in this 18.83 squared meters micro-apartment.
Yes please !!! I love it !!! If I only lived in Japan I would jappily live here ... 😊
I would place the furniture different than you did in the video.
Definitely one of the best apartments and in my top 3. Only the 30 minutes to Shinjuku are a bit long but the environment looks very nice and if there are enough shops and restaurants I would not miss Shinjuku. 😊
I always begin to dream of a new apartment when I watch these videos. 😅
This is my perfect micro-apartment!! A 2-burner gas stove top, nice and bright, very roomy for a micro, bathroom too! If I were younger, I would retire there!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂
FAN FROM PHILIPPINES! LETSGOOOOO! MORE 15-20SQM PLEASE! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for your comment from the Philippines!🥰🇵🇭
I think this is the best one you have shown us so far. I agree that curtains would be better than the frosted glass which is horrible. I think the owner could have easily included a French window for access to a small deck. 30 minutes to Shinjuku is great for this price. What about your desk though? You can buy a Murphy bed that transform into desk/table. This would be a great option in this apartment.
i could feel ur shock at the underfloor storage not being finished😂 apart from that and it being a bit far, it seems great
The foggy window plus greenery outside make it like album cover of ambient music.
The best of all until now 👏🤩
I was surprised how big the bathroom was. Nice apartment.
This is my favourite one
I like this one. Enough closet space and room to decorate. The Kanagawa prefecture is a very nice area. 😊
This is really nice and bright and a clever use of space.
I liked the toilet roll in the closet
🧻🤣
This is the best one because of the feeling of having a garden and the way the ist made and the ground plan is great.
Suggestion for toilet paper storage, if there is a flat topped tank: I use a rectangular trash bin, that just fits on the tank lid. It can hold 6 rolls. I've seen shorter ones that can hold a 4 pack.
this apartment is my No.1out of all the other apartments. So Zen!, everything the way I would like it.
This would solve housing problem in Florida, USA.
I think this is awful. It's like living in a box.
hahahaha - after you explained to me in a different comment (the micro apartment with the sliding glass door) that there is not much crime to worry about, I was feeling much better about the situation.
Thank you for the comment from New Jersey! I’m very happy!🥰
You have shown us so many apartments- thanks!
This one is close to perfect, but I get the impression, that you can‘t decide which one to take…
I really like this one! I'd put some portable steps up to a window and others on the other side and take over the outside area. Love the Lantana shots (second flower) - they practically take over Houston in the summer.
🌺
Love the layout of this apartment.
A nice unit. I like the layout. Thanks for showing this.
Thank you for showing a little bit of the Nitori store. I must go in one when I am bac in Japan soon. I really like the look of the apartment building from the outside. The inside was ok, but maybe the top floor would have a nice view from the windows? - Marc - from Georgia, USA
I don’t remember ever seeing a Murphy bed in a NItori or any other store in Japan-this would be a great business opportunity for somebody!
I think the way they need wall mounting and earthquakes in Japan would be a problem.
This is my fav so far. Like this space & layout a lot 😊
oh my god, i love this appartement! it's big enough for one person, and it's looks comfortable to put a lot of things!
I like this one. A Murphy bed which converts to desk would be great and allow a sofa and tv unit easily. I like the greenery around the apartment. ❤
Cute apartment ☺️ efficient space 😊 for those that don’t need tons of space 🎉 bigger isn’t always better
Excellent! The ratio of footage/filling of the apartment/price is very good!
Jest dobrze zaprojektowane, dodać szafkę na papier dokończyć schowek i super! 😊
I like this one! Reasonable layout, lots of light.
Very nice❤greetings from Austria 🇦🇹😊
Thank you for the comment from Austria!🥰🇦🇹
Really nice, enough space for living and sleeping and a desk! Bright and sunny too, and no escape rope needed for the windows!
I would get a couple chairs for outside too, enjoy the sun and greenery. Folding chairs could fit in the closet when you weren't outside...
Very well designed. Your videos always make me smile.
Loved the Music “mic drop” when you opened the bathroom floor storage!
Very nice apartment for being small
But had so many nice features
Love floors and secured windows
Thank you for sharing it
Take care and see you in next video ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I liked this apartment; it has a lot of light and I can see the living room space working well. The place looked nice. I liked the trip to the furniture store at the start of the video and also the stop in the park. The flowers look so lovely. A great video 😊
Such a lovely video 😊.... Hello 👋 ... Japan🇯🇵 from Africa 🌍 Cairo Egypt 🇪🇬
Tight, but spacious enough to separate the kitchen from the living room. Pretty functional and totally livable.
I got so excited when you went to a furniture store at the beginning. I love them, furniture stores are the best ❤
I really like this one, if they would finish the under floor storage. Much more open, bigger bathroom and you can always add toilet paper storage...
Thanks for your comment!🥰
You're right. Micro apartments have limited storage. That's why they are suitable for minimalists.
I also went to look for what Murphy Bad was hahaha!! Liked the distribution of spaces in this apartment :)
I always think of getting a futon for the spaces. A couch that folds out into a bed.
I have been to Nitori just today. Its better than Ikea. I love every visit, i always find something i need...and yes, the price is great!
Thanks for your comment!
Nitori is a great store! I love it too!🥰
I think its super cute! But I would not put a TV Stand in it. I would keep the chair, and in place of the TV stand I would put a desk/office chair. Then behind the desk I would put a projector screen that comes down so I could watch movies in the chair when I want. Best of all worlds! :D
