Yeaaa… friend of mine, when we talk Poker, he always says “something something… but hes really aggressive”… 🙄 There is aggressive, and then there is 5 bet jamming for several hundred.
Don’t be discouraged my friend , everyone has downswings , part of life and poker - as long as you know your game and stay positive - you’ll hit your goal.. good luck bud .
Ups and downs...all part of the game! Thank you for taking the time to put together the vlogs and really enjoy watching. Win or lose. Thanks again and keep at it! Don't let Zues berate you too badly!
Good morning Mr. McCusker...always look forward to your honest informative vlog...this one didn't disappoint...I had a nice guffaw when even Zeus proclaimed that you were in deep s it!!! Goodluck moving forward in reaching your 2024 goals!!!
Another great Vlog Doug. Like you, I too am on the struggle bus this week. I cannot get value when I am good and they keep getting whatever they need when I get them to get it in bad. Remember poker is one long journey with many twist and turns.
Doug, I'm going through a pretty rough downswing that has had me questioning my game. Tough beats happen, it's part of the game and seeing you document it helps me get through it
Downswings happen, bad plays happen. The goal is to avoid doing both at the same time 😩. Having a fat bankroll helps keep some of the emotions out of the downswing, but we are only human (as Zeus would say). Hang in there, there are better days ahead.
Always entertaining/ hang in there, better times are on the way. When I run below average I mentally equate myself to a lifetime .300 hitter in baseball who's had a bad game. I don't need to start hitting .400 in the future, I just need to focus on hitting .300 from here on.👍
Even if it is an aggressive player with an EP raiser en the aggro player 3-betting it is not a shame to just fold AK pre. There will probably come better spots along the way than this hand, with your skills compared to the field. And of course (like you stated yourself) i cannot remember a 5-bet not being at least KK+ and mostly AA. (even from an aggro player) A tough week but hey we have all been there and punted some chips here and there. Better luck next time and listen to Zeus' tips and you will get to the promised land. Nice vlog. 👍👍👍👍
The 64 of spades hand where the you had trip tens and he missed his flush on the river but hit a very well hidden gutshot straight … I would have been on super tilt after that hand
$1/$3 $500 max. That's an amazing game. Here in San Diego, it's $2/$3 $300 max. Before COVID one casino Barona, had that structure but it closed it's poker room and never opened back up.
It’s $500 match the stack of any 1-3 table. I’ve seen games with 35k on the table, crazy. 🤪. I’m going down to San Diego in the next couple of weeks, where do you recommend playing at?
I hope when you are in a big pot and face a tough decision the 5K quota doesn’t come to your head. IMO, the 5 goals/challenges you set at the start of each video are great. If you can accomplish those then the amount of winning is just a byproduct.
Great vlog, poker is sick sometimes, but i dont think you did anything wrong , except folding AK pre, it has to be aces/kings, sometimes its only two cards and a fold makjes sense, bit to macho maybe?? regards
QJdd: Not sure why you called this flop bet. I might call one bet, but not a bet and call. You had 3 outs to a Q and a dominated draw. J5ss: If you feel like you need to make the flush, you don't have the right odds to call here, IMO. A7dd: I just call from BB. ATdd: I'd just jam turn with straight draw and 2 flush draws on board.
QJ, the bettor was very wild, could be jamming with a draw. Loose call, but it was close. J5, same player, same reasoning. Wouldn’t surprise me if he had air.
I have lost my last four sessions just like this, getting coolers and missing all my nut draws. I am playing a tight aggressive game ($1/3) and cannot seem to catch a beak. I’m down $2,600 for the Month of August and feel like quitting and just playing home games . Any advice? Thx for the video as I can relate!
Are you recording your hands on paper or your phone? While it could just be a run of bad luck, often times there is some bad play contributing to the loss. Write down every hand that you VPIP and review them after the session. I'm very confident you will find it's not just suckouts and missed draws. For your drawing hands, are you getting odds when you call? How often are you applying pressure vs taking the passive approach?
Here’s my two big hands that I lost in my last session. Pocket AA’s I raise to $20 and get two callers. Flop is uncoordinated so I jam all in. Other player calls and flops set of 4’s and I lose. 4:33 Next buy in I raise in position with 10 Q clubs $15 and get reraised to $45 and a call by another player. I call in position and flop and open ended Royal Flush draw! Sb raises all in for $240 and next player calls the all in. I am greeting 3-1 on my money. How can I fold this? Of course I brick out ending my session. I have been taking notes and writing down my hands
@@Jonger87you described two hands. The OE str8 flush draw played itself, although you may have been drawing to 8 puts if one of your opponents had the A high flush draw. No one will fault you for the call. What was the shove size on the AA hand? Given it was disconnected, are you likely only getting called by better or was it small enough that top pair would also call? Don't get discouraged but do think about recording your hands. Our memories can be selective resulting us remembering a couple of hands that hurt with us forgetting all the smaller losses that added up the real loss.
Not sure why people get married to AK. Im not married at all, but I know how to treat a couple of ladies. Even them sometimes are really not worth the money.
How many hours a month are you playing with the $5k/month as your goal? At 10 BB/hr, which is considered a decent hourly, that's a full-time job! I get the lure of the RUclips challenge, but I think you are setring yourself up for failure. Not bad in and of itself but if you let it affect your play, that's not good. The QJdd hand. The call was burning money. Not sure if tou play other hands that you dont show that way. Definitely not Zues approved.
I was watching you from another game on Monday and didn’t like what I saw. You looked like you had something else on your mind besides poker. Not attentive to the game.
I think when villain 5 bet jams, it's sometimes aces, the also quite often it's aces and then on some very rare occasions, its also aces.
💀
Sometimes its 3 Aces
Or could be two Uno 'wild' +4 cards as those are "very powerful".
Yep, even loose players wake up with AA and 5 bet jam.
Yeaaa… friend of mine, when we talk Poker, he always says “something something… but hes really aggressive”… 🙄

You did play solid, just one of those weeks, Doug. Great vlog!! Keep up the great work!!! Yo Zeus!!!!
Thanks 👍but the AK hand was a punt.

Sorry Doug better luck next tome. Think positive and continue to lay well 😊

13:28 omg, the 6s4s rivered str8 v your trip 10 hand mirrors my week, Doug. You play everything right, and BLAMMO. I feel your pain, brother🤷♂️🥺

Hey Doug, these types of sessions have to be tough to relive as you are editing and putting them together, but always appreciate the vlogs!

It was a shocker, I thought he was making a Hail Mary bluff.
Curious why on the first hand you don’t shove to get the big blind out of the way or try to exact some money from him. The flat call is questionable.
Both players were all in.
@@dougmccuskerpoker thanks for explaining that! Wasn’t clear from the video!

ATd (13:10) that sucks! I have experienced similar hands lately in 4 occasions within one session. Hard to book a win after those.
I was calling all non spade rivers. That was painful.
That’s how I run every cash game 😢

Another player going down in flames playing AK like it’s a made hand. 😀😀😀
He bets, you raise and he reraised. FOOOOOOLD!!!

Pretty solid play except the 5 bet call. Nothing you can do when you are running bad!
Could have saved 450 on that hand. 😩
I’m curious, on the first hand with QQ, what’s your calling range in that spot?
