Eric likes to eat. All the food we've had here is just on another level good. So it's always a treat when you get to explore new places. Thanks for watching. Have a wonderful day
He disfrutado del vídeo.Ustedes son muy agradables Eric -Sandy, caminar tranquilamente por las calles de Cuenca...disfrutando de la comida y de la vida 😊.
Thank you so much. We really do love exploring Cuenca and we can't wait to explore and see more of Ecuador. Thank you for watching our video. Have a beautiful day
Walk-Thru beats a Drive-Thru every time! Good thing Cuenca is a walking city or we'd have Whale Watching on land😅 Now I have to explain the bite marks on the TV to my landlady! Thanks❤
HAHAHAHA. Thanks for watching. It is a good thing that Cuenca is a walking city... I'd have gained 50lbs if we were in the states. Don't eat the TV..just go to La Brasa Roja Grill. It was DELICIOUS.
I like seeing all the different types of foods being tried. Id still really like seeing names of places, the street, name of item and pricr in a caption or subtitle if you know what I mean? Nice clear photos and clear sound,.. thanks. Looking forward to my revisit next month
Torture. When I wanted tortillas or tomales I would head to Calle Los Herrerias. I'll be coming back in November for your birthday. lol Cuenca Days. Never made it over to La Brasa Roja Grill but it's a must stop now.
We love Calle Los Herrerias...it has so much to offer. Almost everything is on that street. And it smells so good.!! November is almost here. Safe travels. You definitely need to go to La Brasa Roja Grill. It's a must. Thank you for watching, it means the world to us. Have a great day and hope to see you sometime.
Eric usually will pick chicken over pork any day.... so I was very surprised he said he liked the ribs more so than the chicken. I have also heard that the pork is the best tasting here in Ecuador. Thanks for your support and thank you for watching our video. Have a wonderful day
I have been walking by those signs with the frozen bars, and now I must stop & buy some... they look so delicious. Please do an evening dining tour 😋😋😋
You need to get some of those frozen bars. They are very delicious. An evening street food tour... that sounds like a plan. 😁❤️ Thank you for watching and commenting. We appreciate you.
My mouth watered during that pastry bonanza! Try a Maracuya Fruity Helado at Morita Frutyhielo on Simon Bolivar - delicious! The weather looks perfect to walk off all those calories.
I just wrote it down..thank you thank you.... besides being chocolate lovers we also LOVE maracuya. The weather was perfect for those pesky calories. 😂😂
Eric, in other videos you self-deride your Spanish speaking skills, but I'm impressed with your transactional Spanish (something both my wife and I are eager to improve). Can you provide some tips-n-tricks (or point us to some resources) that you've used to develop this skill?
Living in Cuenca full-time now we have to ability to use and practice our Spanish daily. And we want it to improve. Sandy and I will take a few minutes to an hour almost everyday and only speak to each other in Spanish. We'll use Google translate or something to help with words or pronunciations. It's helping for sure. But mainly I think it's improving because daily we have the opportunity to apply the skills we're learning. Good question, thank you. And thanks for watching! Have a great day
Yes, we cook at home a lot. But I think I want to do a how much it cost me for a month to cook at home and how much it cost to eat out a month. Of course on the budget friendly version. I've had a veggie burger and a fresh juice at one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants...2.00 total. YUM. Eric loves all of the pasteries out here. Everything is fresh fresh fresh. You would totally love it here.
Wow, that food looked amazing. One day I'm going to manage to get to Ecuador and now have a growing list of all the interesting food places along with historical and interesting shops and outdoor adventures. Thank you for another adventure in Cuenca.
You are quite welcome. Thank you for watching and commenting. We appreciate you so much. I hear ya... We had been researching Ecuador for about 12 years and then finally one day we were like .... we are going!!! And we weren't disappointed at all. So glad we finally decided to do the trip. Thanks again and have a wonderful day.
Thank you for watching our video. We love all the food that we have tried in Ecuador. Muy rico. Many blessings to you and your family for the New Year 🙏
Can't drink coffee too late or we'll be up until 3am. 😆 That is exactly what it tasted like...I couldn't remember the flavor..I kept saying like the inside of a butter finger..but no flaky stuff...abbbazabba it is. Ding ding ding.... you hit the nail on the head!!! Thank you!
*** WOW*** > '''That''' - makes me want to come there for some of that food !!! -- El Vergel looks like a very desirable area (?) at least to my liking ! -- What is the cost of living there ? Are there reasonably priced furnished frugal places to rent available near all that food ?
The food is so delicious...everything we've evertried so far is spectacular. El Vergel is a desirable place which is why apartments go FAST in this area. The cost of living can vary in a huge way. I've seen apartments go anywhere from 250.00 a month to 1200.00. unfurnished, semi furnished, furnished. I've seen a very nice furnished 1 bedroom apartment in the Vergel area for 480.00. I also just saw a very small 1 bedroom 1 bath furnished with a balcony for 600.00 in the El Vergel area and that was only up for less than a week. (Those 2 apartments also included everything..electric, water, propane and internet) I hope this helps answer your question. Thank you for watching and have a great day
Hi there, Retired US soldier here... I spend a few months a yr in Guayaquil, if you want to visit Guayaquil you r more than welcome to stay at our home in a safe gated community
Hey Jimmy, Thank you for your service. Thank you for your invitation...That is so very nice of you. We will let you know when we get out to Guayaquil. Thank you again for watching, we appreciate your support. Have a lovely day.
Yummy 🤤 almost everything 🌟👌 the only things that I hate is melcocha the sugarcane toffee thing lol I also don’t like chocolate cake from a whatever-place😅 I like it but next time try it at sweet&coffee cafetería the torta mojada de chocolate that’s good👌 tell them to put tons of the chocolate sauce that’s the secret lol 😝 and At minute 13:30 that thing is aplanchados it’s really really good try it in Quito at Hansel&gretel bakery aplanchados there are the best lol and the best croissant 🥐 in Ecuador 🇪🇨 for me in Quito at Swiss corner 🇨🇭restaurant and omg 😩 I’m so jealous 😅you was drinking guitig ❤I love guitig when is very very super cold 😅👌 but I don’t live there any more by the way I don’t know why here in 🇺🇸 soups , chicken soup 🍲 taste so bad 😢! It’s doesn’t matter if it’s homemade people here always make the soups with flavors taste like can soups 🥫😵💫🤢 lol
Thanks for letting us know about the Aplanchados 👍. I hear you about the chicken soup lol. All the soups I've had here in Ecuador were very tasty 😋. We'll put those places on our list for when we visit Quito. Thanks for the recommendations 😀. Glad you liked the video. Have a great weekend 😀 😊 😎
All the food that they cook in front of you ... good. I agree with Nico.... no salad...you don't know how long it's been sitting. Get your salad in the restaurants. Salad isn't street food. 😂😂
Hey Barb!!! Salad isn't a street food... hahaha. I don't think we've seen salads as street foods...but I would totally stick to the restaurants for salads.
I'll go over it with the boss...rating system... I think it's a great idea. 1 outta 10. Put the food on the spot..😂 If you see any changes....thank you in advance. and Thank you for watching and commenting. Hope to chat with you again. Have a great day
Sandy, you on the camera ? You are doing a great job, gal !!!! You two are a team. Was this recorded after your wilderness escape ? Have you re'adjusted to city life ? the noise of the city will be an adjustment for me (coming off rural Michigan/farm) the River will be the best. soon.
OMG...where have you been? I just told Eric the other night, I haven't heard from Barb in awhile. So glad you are doing good and so glad to hear from you. Yes, I was on the camera, and that little booger is quite heavy after a while...MY ACHING BACK..LOL Thanks for the compliment. Yes, this was after the glamping trip... my goodness what a little paradise that was. Majority of our videos are maybe 2 weeks out. We lived in the country in South Carolina, it was very quiet and very dark...no lights. I really didn't notice much of an adjustment. When we're in our apartment and have the windows closed you can't hear much outside. I think the only thing you will have to adjust to is the noise from the vehicles. When you walk along the river you literally can't hear much of the traffic noise at all. I love hearing the parrots squawk when they fly by. All the birds with their different chirps are delightful to listen to as well. I feel like I'm spoiled with all this nature, even being in the city.

Great video. Question: how do you keep your shape eating all this great food. What is the name of the streets you were on? Question: What is the name of the pastry shop you always go to? You mentioned Rene working there.
Calle Las Herrerias is the Street and Tipico Pande Ambato is the bakery. I stay in shape by going to the gym 3 days a week on average and lifting weights 💪. Avoid Salad when you first try street food. Meat is always good.
