And 'Christiano and Messiah' had complete teams built around to serve them only -the one individual. For the One was the 'saviour' of the entire team, even though everyone else was more or less made to sacrifice their own individual talents in order to help them shine much brighter than the rest. But if goals is the only merit; have we already forgotten how many a certain Norwegian scored last season.

If people are crying about "the standard of football falling that 20 goal seasons are good enough to win ballon d'ors" then why are they crying when Haaland was up for the award (before he lost it to Messi)? Cole Palmer's brilliance at Chelsea has been amazing as no one expected him to have this good of a season, 24 goals 17 assists 41 G/A in all competitions, 22 goals and 10 assists 32 G/A in the premier league alone 2nd top scorer in the league despite not being a striker and is top 5 in assists as well, but Manchester City made the right call in getting rid of him last summer. The reason for that is because he was barely getting game time, he was in a team that was guaranteed to win trophies, and that's important in a player's career, he didn't want to be a benchwarmer and even when he was expected to have a bigger role this season, he knew that he still won't play a lot and he was asking to leave for 2 seasons. His decision to leave Manchester City was a brave risk and a gamble that paid off because even though he was on a proper team managed by Pep Guardiola and a side that wins trophies, he felt as if he would benefit with a bigger role on Chelsea on a much weaker side who have seen attackers struggle there time and time again. Who would've thought that he'd explode this season. The numbers that he has produced this season is staggering, he's been carrying Chelsea all season and without him they would be be in 15th place and he's a contender for premier league player of the season and he'll make the England squad at the EUROs and Gareth Southgate might consider starting him. Manchester City made the right decision in selling as he didn't want to be there. With Palmer in this form imagine him in the current City team alongside Erling Haaland and Phil Foden in attack with Kevin De Bruyne behind them.

I think that voters fatigue has had a negative impact on the Ballon Dor in recent years. More people will appreciate Messi and Ronaldo now than they did years ago especially when it came to the Ballon Dor because people got tired of both of them winning this award every time and people wanted to see a different winner. Both of them won a combined total of 13 Ballon Dors meanwhile some players have 1 or haven’t even won a Ballon Dor. Now both of them don’t play in Europe anymore as one is in the MLS and the other is in Saudi Arabia meaning that the Ballon Dor is open and anybody can be the best player in the world. If one of Kylian Mbappe Erling Haaland Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior wins the Ballon Dor people will say “football has dropped off”. Why, because according to fans Mbappe plays in a farmers league, Haaland is a “tap in merchant”, Bellingham lives off of Madrid PR always ghosting in big games, and Vini is very provocative and annoying. People wanted to see a new face and a different player be the best in the world, now people say that football is boring without Messi and Ronaldo and in some sense it’s true that at times we did take their greatness for granted especially since we spent too much time comparing them. The Ballon Dor in some sense is dropping off in recent years and when Messi and Ronaldo were at their peak, I like how the Ballon Dor was decided between the 2. Both of them put up 50+ goals identical stats, the only way to differentiate them in a given season and decided the best player in the world between the 2 is off of who won more trophies and that was fair. Now, anyone can win the Ballon Dor and be the best player in the world because they played on a team that won a lot of trophies even though they weren’t even the best player on that team throughout the season. Their greatness will be appreciated much more in the coming years because in their own way they’re irreplaceable.

You do realise MLS season only started in late FEB 2024. Messi has played a total of 9 MLS games only and 3 Concaf champions league matches. He has 12 Goals and 11 Assists in 13 appearances this season (and he has missed most of it due to injury) unheard of in the MLS just last week he was leading the league as both top scorer and top playmaker.
The Saudi pro league season started in August 2023 in fact Cristiano has only 3 games left for the end of the season. His stats are as follows 28 Saudi pro league appearances and has played in Saudi super cup and AFC champions league a total of 9 additional appearances. Total 37 appearances of which he has been outstanding and scored 39 Goals and 11 assists a superb season.
Both are the best of the best of footballers (even now as they reach the end of their careers, as no other footballer before them has been able to get those numbers consistently even in weaker leagues). We have been blessed to have had the chance to see them but it's important to get the facts right and not make it seem different to people who read comments but don't follow.
The facts are clear without any dispute that Messi is in a league of his own not only scoring simple goals but continuing his magical goals, assists and dribbles, completely changing his whole team and the league. Filling in American football stadiums. Single Handley changing the sports culture in USA and inspiring new generations to dream to be footballers. No one plays the type of magic football Messi does, the excitement to watch his every move is unmatched. Even when he doesn't score or assist which is unlikely it's still a joy to watch.

LaLiga definitely fell in quality. Madrid for me is almost as strong as Ronaldo days, it's just that they play more like a team now redistributing the goals around the team, but probably will go back to playing for Mbape when/if he joins. Atletico is pretty much same as always, tho a big revamp is coming their way, as a lot of main players getting old, and others not working out for them. Barcelona has fallen off badly, with a lot of decisions to be made in the summer, and Lewandowski replacement needed. Valencia is a ruin. Villarreal sold their best players and bought no one. Sevilla is a shadow of it's former self which is a pity. They always sell their best players and try to replace on the cheap, but got caught this time. Girona, Bilbao, Sociedad and Betis are good teams but that's it. But if you look across all of the big leagues the situation is the same everywhere. Just look at England, and teams like Pool, Chelsea, UTD etc.. In Germany Bayern are all messed up, In Italy Juve and Milan, In France PSG are not what they used to be as well.

2015-16 season in La Liga 6 players score over 20+ goals or more (Cristiano Ronaldo Lionel Messi Neymar Luis Suarez Karim Benzema Antoine Griezmann and Aduriz), Gareth Bale was a goal away from achieving this feat and would’ve had it not been for injuries.
The numbers that Messi and Ronaldo were putting up on a season basis battling it out with each other scoring goals for fun I miss those days and we’ll never seen anything like that again. If you look at the race for the Pichichi top scorer award in La Liga the player who has the most goals in the league is Artem Doyvbk of Girona with 20 goals, 2nd is Jude Bellingham with 19 goals and he’s a midfielder and started his Real Madrid career with 10 goals in his first 10 league games and a Villarreal player is tied with him. Robert Lewandowski isn’t as prolific as he used to be and even he has a chance to win the Golden Boot for the 2nd season in a row. If this was Messi and Ronaldo at their very best, at this stage of a season they would have around 35-40 goals in La Liga. I can’t think of 2 players who were putting up video game numbers year after year and we grew accustomed to their greatness and the way we view stats is so different because of them. They set a high standards for themselves which does make them a “victim of their own success”. If they had a season where they scored around 25-30 goals that would be seen as an average season for them, but if any player had the exact same season they had, you would see them as a genuine Ballon Dor contender and both of them make these guys look like rookies.

For me, the standard fell a long time ago, especially in terms of mentality. That's why it's easier for Real Madrid to win the Champions League than it was a decade, 15 years ago. Everyone just wants the Messis, Ronaldos, Neymar, De Bruynes... Players with the perfect technique, shooting technique. I miss these mentality players ( Roy Kean, Vieira, Gattuso, Drogba) who may not have the technique as the players named above have, but tough fighters, hard players and hard to get down. Those who can also distribute well and skillfully if necessary. Who would not take a CL final loss or any defeat just like that and would also ensure that an important player of the opposing team is carried off the field with a (shoulder) injury.

Rather, the owner does not invest more in the team for fear of being relegated. There is a risk. And relegation is unfavorable as it hurts the club's value and popularity. Also, the teams that are going to be relegated anyway have no motivation and nointention of winning. Defeat on purpose (e.g. Sheffield)
They gave up on the season and are being relegated.European football leagues must disclose salaries I don't understand why many football fans are against revealing players' contract salaries. I think player salaries are either too low or overrated. I think Haaland's annual salary is over $50 million. Honestly, there is no way the EPL salary would be that low. Does anyone know anything about Mbappe's contract? Why didn't you make it public in the first place? I don't know if it's after tax or before tax. The media always says different things. The same goes for the salaries of Griezmann and Suarez during their time in Barcelona. To begin with, La Liga is not sure whether some players' salaries are before or after tax. Always changing. First of all, the salaries of Messi and Ronaldo from 2011 to 2018 are estimated to be after-tax salaries.) And this is not accurate regarding Messi's contract. Laporta said Messi's salary must be paid until 2025. How much did he get paid? And many believe Mane's wages at Liverpool were £100,000 a week. First of all, Mane's agent said his salary is higher than reported in the media.American leagues disclose salaries. Messi's annual salary for 2023, as revealed by the MLS Players' Association, is $20 million. The base annual salary is $12 million. The media reports that it is over $50 million, but in reality it is much less than this. Conversely, if you look at the wage bill, EPL clubs spend more money than the media reports, with Manchester City spending more than 300 million pounds, and Liverpool and Chelsea spending more than 250 million pounds. (Please disclose player salaries, contracts, and salaries.
And why are some people asking
(there will be comments asking why I don't disclose my salary, but I'm an ordinary person. Are ordinary people and sports players the same? And there is FFP in European football)
La Liga also has a salary cap. If I were a soccer player.I would agree to disclosure of my salary. i am asian.
Why do people who are opposed to revealing player salaries say that some players have high or low salaries? Football's wage is It's an estimate and unofficial. . ,
commentators, coaches, and even other players in the league don't know a player's contract and salary...As a side note, Saudi money is exaggerated. A Saudi reporter said that Benzema's annual salary is $50 million. Jordan Henderson's weekly salary was also not what was reported in the media
Team annual salary and reveune were revealed on the UEFA official website. It was revealed that Tottenham spends a whopping 200 million euros and Liverpool spends 300 million euros on player salaries. There is a lot of difference from the media. (It seems like the salary is about 80 to 100 million euros more than the media reports.)psg.Barça spends 500 million euros. Leicester also spent more money than Sevilla in the 2022-23 season (but was relegated) What I'm saying is, please disclose player salaries. Haaland $50m seems right.. EPL salary seems too low. In fact, it seems to have been underreportedTo be honest, if you ask whether the relegation system helps profits and popularity, 99% of people would sayThey say there is a relegation system, why is there FFP? If you don't spend money, your team will become weak and get demoted. Why can't you spend money? What's wrong with the owner's investment?

Of course the standards have fallen partly due to Messi and Ronaldo and also due to the Premier League financially catching up to the financial cheating of Real Madrid and Barcelona, they can no longer cherry pick the best Premier League players by tripling salaries, so La Liga at the top end can no longer maintain that quality gap because of it.
