Hey Walt! What a great comment. Appreciate you watching they whole thing. You obviously stuck around for all my goofy stuff because you even saw that my hand warmers melted my chocolate...😂. We laugh about it down the trail. I don’t know the model of the jacket. It is older and has no rages with it. A store was going out of business years ago and I got it at 70% off. It is SUPER warm. Mountain Hardwear makes excellent stuff! Yeah, that fat man squeeze is no joke. I had to hold my pack UP so I didn’t get mud all over it, while negotiating the tight walls. It made it impossible to also hold the camera. That is why the video is so shaky...Thanks so much for watching! Appreciate you always commenting on my videos. That makes me want to continue doing it, makes it worth it that people watch. ✌️

@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING Have you been to "The Walls of Jericho" in Northern Alabama? That's a cool little hike. It can be done in a day, but there's camping at the bottom around the creek.
Looks like a pretty place to make camp. Could you hear the creek running from your campsite? Love that waterfall at the beginning, but looking down over it might give me a little vertigo lol.
Thanks! Yes, I heard the water all night, which was good because it kept me from hearing animals that I may think were trying to get in my tent. 😄. Funny, I didn’t really think about that waterfall until I watched the playback of my video...then I thought, what the heck was I doing...😬
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING haha I wasn't even thinking about hearing wild animals. I just thought it was probably peaceful. Now, however, I'm thinking it was a good noise block lol.
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING yes sir it looks like it. I live about 30 minutes from the Birkhead Wilderness but there's not any waterfalls, or tall cliffs, only several nice creeks,a few fall scenic spots, and remains from old homeplaces from the 1800s and a few rock fireplaces still standing. But it's home!
I was thinking that it would be an awesome place to kayak. I just don’t know the Bankhead well enough to know all the ports of entry for the kayaks/canoes. Let’s plan a trip there sometime. ✌️
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING I've been talking to a couple of guys about kayaking the Sipsey River there. I'll keep you posted. Let's definitely get a trip together soon!! 👍
I think it was obvious that I was confused too. But, I have a good understanding now, if you ever want to hike it with me. Yeah, it was a long way down on a slippery trail to the tree. So, we just filmed the top. Thanks for watching. ✌️
wow theres a falls in a tiny cave to past thru the side nice video sir, great channel i love hiking too, i hope you can visit here in philippines and we hike together, hehe
Appreciate the comment Mark. So, the tent I used on that trip is the Zpacks (Duplex). It is a Dyneema tent. But, I also have the Lanshan “Flame’s Creed” tent, which is the same design in a sip-nylon material. You can find that tent in Amazon or AllieExpress for $100-$120. Th Zpacks tent weighs in 19 ounces. But, it is a bit pricey. I had cell reception at the first campsite, but, there is little to no reception out there. Thanks for watching. Crow✌️

AS THE CROW FLIES HIKING Ok. Not too bad. This will actually be one of my closer trips. 4 hrs. I’m constantly driving 10 - 12 hrs to Smokys or that area. Cya soon
Hey Papa John. Absolutely! I am a Birmingham boy, born and raised. I remember from your AT through hike that you live in Auburn...I think. We need to plan a hike. Maybe the Pinhoti? ✌️
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING That's right, I'm in Auburn. The Pinhoti is not too far from home. I was thinking of doing the Alabama portion in late fall or next spring. Can't do it right now because I'm biking to get ready for BRAG (bike ride across Georgia) and then Camino de Santiago in Sept. I wouldn't try the Pinhoti in the Summer, and I've heard the GA section of the Pinhoti is a lot of road walking. Stay in touch.
I have been wanting to do the Alabama section in one hike for years. Next fall would be perfect. Maybe after the leaves fall and the temperatures cool down a bit.✌️

16:10 that was a legendary John Muir quote!
🤣✌️. Appreciate it. Yeah, the Sipsey is an amazing place. Crow✌️
Subscribed to your channel and look forward to more. :)
Erika Lancaster - Thank you! ☺️✌️
Whoooo hooooo. Part 2. Here we go.
Thanks Will!
Part two better than part one. Such great scenery. Fat man squeeze very cool. Batman lost in the wilderness.
I have a confession...I’m Batman...😳😆✌️
AS THE CROW FLIES HIKING 🤪
Awesome vids (1 & 2)? I want to start hiking Sipsey. I was there Sunday kayaking on Brushy Lake just a little East of where y'all started I believe. 👍
Awesome, let’s do it. ✌️
Dang Brad I'm totally confused about those trail numbers. Lol
Kinda disappointed that you didn't show more of The Big Tree. 😅
I think it was obvious that I was confused too. But, I have a good understanding now, if you ever want to hike it with me. Yeah, it was a long way down on a slippery trail to the tree. So, we just filmed the top. Thanks for watching. ✌️
Great adventure
Thanks so much. I had a great time making that video. ✌️
Great job on the video man. It sure was a fun trip.
Thanks Joe. You made the trip work. I would have been lost on the first day. From the comments, seems like a lot of people liked our hike. ✌️
This really is a beautiful trail
Yeah, one of my favorites…😊✌️
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING im so new to this kind of hiking their all new to me
😊✌️
Awesomeness 😁✌
Small ADVentures - Thanks! I had a great time making this video. It was super fun. Appreciate ya! ✌️
When you hike in the middle of the back country you definitely get away from civilization....It's quite a beautiful area to explore!!
Hey Wes! You are so right. It is such an amazing place. Just you and nature. I love that place. Thanks for taking the time to watch. ✌️
Great video-but have 2 questions:
1. Is the trail well marked?
2. Conditions of the trail.
Thanks,
Paul
No, this trial is not well marked. It is good to go with someone who knows the area. Crow✌️
Another great video!
Did you get the bbq? I really liked the part where sat on the rock by the campsite.
Lots of great scenery...
adrienne berry - unfortunately the barbecue place was closed. 🥺. But, we ate at Western Sizzler. It was awesome!
wow theres a falls in a tiny cave to past thru the side nice video sir, great channel i love hiking too, i hope you can visit here in philippines and we hike together, hehe
LaN TEng CHANNEL - I would love to come to the Philippines. Maybe someday. Appreciate you subscribing to my channel. I like your videos. ✌️

Nice video. I have 2 questions for you. What tent did you use and how was cell reception if any out there. Thanks in advance
Crow✌️
cool hike!
Thanks so much. I had such an awesome time making this video. ✌️
By the way, I have enjoyed watch in your videos. ✌️
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING awww thank you my friend I'm so glad you are enjoying mine & right back at ya
In north Alabama, the Sipsey is hard to beat. Where was the BBQ feast after the hike?
Carl Monin - I forgot what it was called. But, it was closed, so we ended up going to that steak place in Moulton. I am actually from Russellville. I grew up there. Thanks so much for watching! Crow✌️
AS THE CROW FLIES HIKING I live in Decatur so was guessing Big Bob’s. 😁 Enjoyed the video! In your defense, the trail markings in the Sipsey are terrible.
🤣✌️
Brad, how long of a drive do you have to Cumberland Island?
I think it is like 6.5... I need to look at it. But, I have to teach Thursday evening. So, I will be driving at night and maybe sleep in my truck a few hours before the ferry.
AS THE CROW FLIES HIKING Ok. Not too bad. This will actually be one of my closer trips. 4 hrs. I’m constantly driving 10 - 12 hrs to Smokys or that area. Cya soon
Put the chocolate in the freezing water for few minutes..it will be edible again. Love your adventure and interesting video :-)
Thanks Howling Wheels. Good idea. That was good chocolate. I ended up eating it that evening after it cooled down. It was delicious. 😄✌️
Another great video. Hitting Alabama now? Do you live in the yellowhammer state?
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING Sounds like second half of October to mid November. I'd be up for that.
Sounds good. 👍
