The end of the scene is so iconic to me because Mr. Clark cared so much so seeing that show of potential and excellence kind of energized him. When he’s balling his fists up right before he greets Mr. Darnell I imagine him mentally saying to himself “this is why I fight for these kids there’s so much potential, so much hope”. This movie will never ever get old to me.
Might be one of the greatest scenes in cinema. First the fake out that the kids can sing, then the fake out that Principal Clark is actually impressed and loves it. I mean, just a one-two punch to the feels. Great scene. Great movie.
I read comment after comment to see if anyone else noticed that! I had to rewind it time after time. Every time I watch the movie, I look for that part lol
This movie, along with Glory, are two of the best movies I've ever watched. I wish the "black" cultre would embrace some of the values that were expressed in these films.
I do believe that my favorite part of this scene is him walking through the hallways afterwards, looking happy and singing to himself while all the other people, teachers and students, are wondering what the heck is going on because he's smiling for once!
Whatcha got in there Malachi???? MY FUTURE!!!! If only kids still felt that way about their education today. Mr. Clark was HAPPY going back to his office!!!
Fair eastside by thy side we'll stand and always praise thy name praise thy name praise thy name to heaven yeah lend our hearts and hands to help increase thy fame oh lord the honor yeah of old eastiside high brings forth our loyalty loyalty loyalty so cheer for dear old eastside high lead on to victory
we need more principals and teachers like mr.clark. that tough love and he cared todays teachers and principals collect their check and move on they don't care !
MAN, I freakin LOVE THIS MOVIE !!!!!!! A true CLASSIC !!!!! and because I'm one of the FEW young black male teachers in my school district, this movie really hits home for me ...
I always cry at this scene and the scene when all the kids showed up at the jail and they sung the Alma mater at the end this is my favorite movie I watch it all the time ❤
Of most of the movies I’ve seen about schools, this one has to be the best of them all. Granted, Mr. Clark was forceful in the beginning, but he came around to be a great principal in the end. I wish that my principal in high school was as great as Mr. Clark was.
I wish modern movies from our black and spanish producers were this inspirational and genuine. Meaning, movies where we were not painted as victims; instead movies that inspired us to be both better individuals and members of our society.
I MISS MY MOM SO MUCH! MAY SHE REST IN HEAVENLY PEACE! I KNOW SHE'S GOT THE CHOIR ON PITCH & ON POINT! JOB WELL DONE MA! LOVE YOUR # 1 SON 😘DOOLEY, POOH, UNCLE EARL 🫂

East side high school is where principal Joe Clark worked didn't give a shit about he deals with the teachers and students one tough school principal who kept his head up
These boys(not the short round one) would form a group called RIFF. Their only hit was White Men Can't Jump from the White Men Can't Jump soundtrack. The movie was a hit so the song followed.
The end of the scene is so iconic to me because Mr. Clark cared so much so seeing that show of potential and excellence kind of energized him. 😢❤
This is the best scene in the movie. It's a turning point.
It meant he was actually getting through to them.
“Take a bow, Mrs. Powers… you have rewritten our Alma Mater to a superior one.” - Mr. Clark
Might be one of the greatest scenes in cinema. First the fake out that the kids can sing, then the fake out that Principal Clark is actually impressed and loves it. I mean, just a one-two punch to the feels. Great scene. Great movie.
He ran the child into the door and the piano ...too funny loved this scene.
When he threw Sams into that piano I lost it! lmao
I read comment after comment to see if anyone else noticed that! I had to rewind it time after time. Every time I watch the movie, I look for that part lol
First He slam Sams into the Door, then the Piano fell on the floor rolling.
ikr
Yes I cried!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
I'm sure Sams came home everyday black and blue... he was always grabbing, throwing, and shoving him into something 😆
Mr Clark face when they all began to sing "Priceless" lol
Yep, "You gotta be kidding me! How are these boys doing this?" He's completely confused
@@kennethwood88 omg 😱 I been on RUclips entirely too long 😂😂😂😂. But yea “them boys good” in my coming to America voice 😂😂😂
He was in a state of shock where he stood.
He couldn't believe his ears.
That loyalty was beautiful. Those boys can sing.
These boys have got amazing singing chops. Even Joe Clark is impressed. 😁
And still do!
This movie, along with Glory, are two of the best movies I've ever watched. I wish the "black" cultre would embrace some of the values that were expressed in these films.
I don't know why but every time i see this scene I cry. To know where those kids were and where they are is a huge transformation .
"SPEAK UP"
"Mrs. Powers"
Sam's A Whole Snitch 😂😂
Is that CLEAR!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@princesslayna5527 "Yes sir."
Crazy i knew this school song but never knew my high school song
I still don't remember my school song
They never did this or enforced us to learn our school song when I was in High School. They should have. We needed a Joe Clark.
I didn't even know we had a school song 😂
Yeah I dont think we had a school song. We had daily bomb threats though.
For real bro
I do believe that my favorite part of this scene is him walking through the hallways afterwards, looking happy and singing to himself while all the other people, teachers and students, are wondering what the heck is going on because he's smiling for once!
They didn't know that Joe Clark heard him some good singing.
That's why he was grinning from ear to ear.
Whatcha got in there Malachi???? MY FUTURE!!!! If only kids still felt that way about their education today. Mr. Clark was HAPPY going back to his office!!!
the absolute best scene of the lean on me movie, hands down!
The way Joe Clark look at them when they start singing🤣
He was like, "WTF am I hearing?
Are they singing in complete harmony? WTF is going on here?
I can scarcely believe my ears."
@@redpyramid9697why am I reading this in his voice lol
😂😂😂😂😂
Those boys could sing!!!
They're singing scared and still did an amazing job! haha WOW! Loved this film.
I love the “bong” sound the piano makes when Mr Clark walks Sams right into it. Lol
This is one of those movies you put it your DVD collection... pure classic!! Many actors careers took off after this movie!
I've brought Lean On Me on DVD many times. It's a good movie. I remember watching it on BET as a kid with my Grandmother.
3:50
MR Clark : whatcha got in there maliki?
Him: MY FUTURE!
3:25 The most wholesome 'sike' in history
As he walks down the hallway he's so proud of those boys
Mrs powers smiles was beautiful black magic
Right
I loved the scene where white students were trying to sing the song. Roflol
He was a little too stern in this scene
Fair eastside by thy side we'll stand and always praise thy name praise thy name praise thy name to heaven yeah lend our hearts and hands to help increase thy fame oh lord the honor yeah of old eastiside high brings forth our loyalty loyalty loyalty so cheer for dear old eastside high lead on to victory
This is clearly the defining moment of this movie; the bond was made between Mr. Clark and everyone else. Thanks for sharing.
That scene still brings a tear to a 235 lb man's eye after all these years I'm 45 and this scene still hits hard like I first watched it classic
I'm younger, heavier, but I get teared up as well. 👍🥲
Thank you I'm glad I'm not the only one.
we need more principals and teachers like mr.clark. that tough love and he cared todays teachers and principals collect their check and move on they don't care !
it's because of the students they don't care
Joe Clark would be demonized worse than President Trump
It’s the blacks that don’t care. At one point they did.
But with the welfare system their social responsibility has lessened
@@OffWithReligion you whites don't care either. So just be sure to take a look in the mirror at yourself
You better be planning to get rid of the teachers union
LMAO at the annotations of Mr Clark dragging Sam. I always crack up watching those parts.
Mr Clark in a good mood following after...everybody has that look like the ceiling's gonna cave in at any moment.
Riff - an underrated R&B group!
They made an appearance in the 1993 movie "POSSE: The Revenge of Jesse Lee".
it good to see our black people come up to be bless to and to come this far by grace and mercy we have over come this a classic that will live on.
MAN, I freakin LOVE THIS MOVIE !!!!!!! A true CLASSIC !!!!! and because I'm one of the FEW young black male teachers in my school district, this movie really hits home for me ...
That scene still brings a chill down my spine.
I'm still laughing at Sam's slamming into the door loll
The look on his face was priceless.
I believe this was everybody favorite part of the movie "Lean On Me"
Great part. But I prefer the singing of lean on me in the auditorium..
The fact that they got scared shows respect. That’s huge.
I love his face at 3:30, it's a look of acceptance.
I always LOL'd hard at him hitting the door. But I never noticed the piano. I am now LOL'ing harder...
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
2:51. He’s like damn…lol
When you realize your teammates on COD are actually pretty good.

They are really good singers!! What a wonderful school song!!

Look how my man Mr. Clark jumped when my man hit the "Oooh Lord" adlib in the song.
2 Funny!! he was shocked & amazed.....lean on me a Classic!
LOL The sound when he shoves Sams into the piano 😬
Mr clarks expression was priceless. Lol
That bathroom has better acoustics than my school's theatre
Touching the souls of all oppressed people...
2:45 UGGGHHH!!! That was Sam's note lol.

Lmaoooo I never noticed him running into the door like that! Poor Sams was gettin beat up all through the movie lol
Finally, something mr clark couldn't handle. 💯🤣
2:47-2:52 I'm surprised he didn't break character when Mr Clark ran him into the door and slammed his belly on the piano 😂

10 days suspension for not knowing the school song? Nowadays in NJ public schools, they might get 1-day suspension for beating the crap out of a kid.
