    This is, to my knowledge, the ONLY place on the internet where I've seen this explained in this manner. Even in my Kaplan MCAT books, they do not do this. In my opinion, this is much better

    This method really is far superior and also much more intuitive to understand. Thank you. I found this method in another place a few years ago and you have helped me to relocate it. Makes me wonder why they keep pushing the other approach - this cuts to it much more directly.

    Thank you for sharing this method. I used the traditional method on a quiz & took too much time.
    I have 1 question. I don't know how to apply this approach when I am given only the Condensed Formula.

    Why do teachers commonly make things as complicated as possible? My chem teachers assign 3x the work of my other classes combines. It's unfair. then they do stuff like this, making uncomplicated things complicated. Thanks for letting us know how to do this without making it hard for no reason!!!

    What if your teacher doesn’t include the drawn out electrons? When you get to the “Has” do you just add the electrons from the table to the ones in the bonds?

    Question:From where is an extra electron coming on oxygen if H has 1 and O has 6 how are there 7 electrons on O. Similarly in the example of NO3 how does e have 7 electron outside while it should have 6 is N giving electrons? Please tell me how. Please reply as soon as possible.

    Do u use formal charge only for organic compounds

      Thanks for watching and asking! Formal charges can be calculated for any covalent compound (for which a Lewis structure can be drawn). This concept is first taught in general chemistry and continues to have applications in organic chemistry classes.
