I adore Remmy Ongala. I was introduced to him through Real World Records years ago and I've been hooked ever since. His music is incredibly uplifting and powerful, yet incredibly joyous and celebratory and I recommend it to anyone who wants to be introduced to African and more specifically Tanzanian music.
That experience of having several subjects going around in your head is so frustrating. It’s kind of overwhelming ! Wish she’d tried to understand. You can tell by Peter’s expression that he had yet to learn how to compartmentalise. So young there. But it happened.....................must be hard to be gifted, appreciative of diverse ways of expressing music and finding a way to do it all. ❤️
Good interview...thanks for posting. I actually think Jane Pauley did a good job as a kind of conduit between the great world artist Peter Gabriel and your average, middle-class American soccer mom, which was most likely the majority of her audience.
Like Sinead O' Connor, Katie Couric had an obvious crush on Peter Gabriel. She's interviewed him several times over the years. She may have turned out to be a conservative little twerp, but at least she has great taste in musicians.

A humble great man! God bless you dear Peter!
