Jack Wolfskin Gossamer Tent Review | A good Stealth Wild Camping Bivi Tent

- just a quick review of the low profile, one man tent , the Jack Wolfskin Gossamer in Dark moss, 1.7kg lightweight tunnel Tent with a tough robust ground sheet , 4000hh waterproof fly sweet, DAC aluminium poles with a slim compact pack size.
A well made durable one man bivi tent, it lacks in head room to sit up in it , but almost a metre wide inside with plenty of length.
It can also be used just as the inner tent as a bug net for camping in the summer or under tarp.

I'm lucky enough to have tents at £££££££ and also tents at £. If you can handle the height and lack of porch, I'd say that this wee fella is one of the toughest tents I've ever used. It can take some hooligan weather with ease. Gets draughty in winter but can handle wind nae bother. Glad to see that someone. On YT can actually pitch it properly too. It needs to be drumskin tight. Brilliant tent Gaz, I’ve used mine in winter in the lakes, it’s bombproof and surprisingly warm with a good bag. Brilliant against wind and rain with a really cosy feel, only drawback is cooking outside if it rains. Keep em coming mate.

Nice review. Bought the Gossamer 2 for both myself and my son. The first time we used them, we were caught in a serious downpour. But, there wasn’t a single leak. No problems with condensation and numerous trips later, both are still 💯 % waterproof. Excellent tents for the money.
Yeah they are solid little tents , loads of room in the gossamer 2 aswell, especially with the extra storage space , nice one mate 👍 atb

Great review. I have the Gossamer 2 but only used it a couple of times. I am about to start using it on mountain wild camps but just a bit concerned at the lack of laterial guylines on the big hoop. I will try to pitch it rear to the wind but it has a large rear vent and inner is mesh so could get quite windy. I think you're right- these tents are probably best in spring/summer, but represent very sturdy and capable shelters.

I haven't used any Jack wolfskin but have head good about them. I like how they put the zipper flap on the down slope of the tent. A lot overlook that.

That does look a cracking little tent Gaz. Dont often use one but have a couple, an oex and one tigris. Looks ideal to tuck away somewhere to get some dry shut eye. The idea of a bug mesh under a tarp seems a good one too.

It is small and low profile, I just see it as a hooped bivi when using it , I've not had any condensation issues yet , I've owned it before, sold it and bought another , but I've got the 2 man version too for more room and vestibule space, solid little tents though , thanks Mark mate 👍 🏕

That's not a bad weight Gaz.. my MSR Elixir 1 is like 2.2 KG although I can sit up in it. I think what you say about just think of it as a big bivvy is the way to think about it 👍

Ha! I'm just about to put my gossamer 1 on e bay. Never used it. Bloody good bivvy tent but my doggy doesn't fit in it with me sadly.

It's pretty much identical to the Snugpak Ionosphere.

Blimey,whilst I understand the ethos of travel light and quick pitching etc.I would at least want a tent where you can sit up like a human being and a small porch too to allow a quick and dirty brew of a morn.These things would give me nightmares of coffins/being buried alive tbh.😳

How much does the inner weigh on its own it looks perfect for a tarp 👍
I'm not sure mate , I'm guessing around 1.3 - 1.4kg with pegs without the flysheet, I've used just the inner during the summer, it would definitely work well under a tarp as a solid bug net 👍 atb

Yeah I think so, there's loads room in them .
Definitely length wise , but no chance of sitting up in it, I'm 6ft 4 myself, so no problem 👍🏕
