Warning! There is no security or code for the bluetooth so if you live close to awful neighbours they can just play anything through your speakers. Removing the antenna worked for me.
We love these, and their little sibling the HD3. They do a great job of stereo imaging, and if you combine either pair with the S8 sub you won't be disappointed!
@@crutchfield And the hard to define but entirel6 relevent, do I need a sub, I'd be listening at low to medium volume most of time! Thanks for taking the time to answer me
Yes. You can have multiple sources connected (record player and TV). All the inputs are open and active so all you need to do is starting playing the source you want and it will play through the speaker - no switching or button pressing necessary.
I'm looking to buy some speakers to accompany my desktop pc. I have plenty of room on my desk. I was looking at the A5+ and decided the HD6 look like a better choice. I was going to pair them with audio engine S8 subwoofer. At $1300 for the package is this my best option still for high quality desktop speakers that will still thump? cheers!
Hey there thanks for your video. I see it's RCA lines in but could you tell me if it's compatible with an audio interface line out balance audio cable?
You could connect a powered subwoofer if it has RCA inputs. You could also see if your DAC provided better sound as these can accept both analog and digital signals.
You can use the line-level RCA audio outputs on the HD6 speakers to connect a separate powered subwoofer with its own built-in amp. This is a full-range output on the HD6 speakers, so you'll need to use the powered sub's built-in low-pass crossover settings.
You are in luck. Bose no longer makes those models, but we did a review while they were available. Its on our Crutchfield Channel and can be found here: ruclips.net/video/pie3NEyR2zY/видео.html
Hi Brendan, these are powered speakers so no need for an extra amp; but you could connect a DAC via one of the analog inputs. Do you have a specific model in mind or would you like help choosing?
The need for more bass will really come down to your personal preferences. There is a RCA stereo line output you can use to connect a powered sub though. We do recommend breaking them in first. That way, you can see if you want more bass and, if so, how much.
@@crutchfield So I got them all, I would say my final question if possible, if you have any idea is volume and crossover settings on the S8 subwoofer. I've got them hooked up to the A5's it sounds pretty good, not amazing but pretty good. Settings on the S8 I'd be interested in...the cross over set to just past half and the volume just under half so far

thats what i did. i prefer wired connection anyway
They won't be on pairing mode all the time. 🤔
Vastly underrated speakers

Are these still the best speakers in 2022
They are still excellent choices!

It's best to break these in first and then decide on the sub. That way, you can see if you want more bass and, if so, how much.
@@crutchfield Thanks mate
You're welcome.
Can you plug this in to a record player and tv simultaneously and switch between both?
Yes. You can have multiple sources connected (record player and TV). All the inputs are open and active so all you need to do is starting playing the source you want and it will play through the speaker - no switching or button pressing necessary.

This will be a great sounding desktop system! Are there any specific inputs or features you need?
Hey there thanks for your video. I see it's RCA lines in but could you tell me if it's compatible with an audio interface line out balance audio cable?
Are they studio monitors?
These powered speakers do not have a balanced audio input and are expecting unbalanced preamp level audio
Can connect subwoofer? Also, can connect my topping d50s dac or the inbuilt dac is better?
You could connect a powered subwoofer if it has RCA inputs. You could also see if your DAC provided better sound as these can accept both analog and digital signals.
can you control the EQ on these? do they have apps?
EQ is not adjustable, and there is no companion app available for the Audioengine HD6.
How do you connect to a subwoofer with an RCA output?
You can use the line-level RCA audio outputs on the HD6 speakers to connect a separate powered subwoofer with its own built-in amp. This is a full-range output on the HD6 speakers, so you'll need to use the powered sub's built-in low-pass crossover settings.
Can you review the Bose Companion 5/50 please?

Can you plug a separate DAC/Amp into these?
Hi Brendan, these are powered speakers so no need for an extra amp; but you could connect a DAC via one of the analog inputs. Do you have a specific model in mind or would you like help choosing?
@@crutchfield I do not have one in mind, but something that's reasonably affordable and can give these some decent juice.
What sources do you want to connect to the DAC?
Do they need a sub or not? Going to be using as computer speakers

@@crutchfield I ended up going A5'S and I'll buy the subwoofer for them
