I was born in Colombia but I’ve been living in Jackson Heights since I was 2, so about 20 years. I’ve always loved the diversity and I’ve grown up surrounded by so many different cultures. It breaks my heart because I’ve noticed more starbucks, more chipotles, more dunkin donuts, they’re opening up a target right on Roosevelt, less small restaurants, mom and pop shops, food trucks, small businesses, etc. My beautiful neighborhood is slowly being gentrified and I just wanna talk about that and put that out there even if no one sees this comment
I am so sorry to hear this and I hope elena sees it at can pin it or something! I am so sorry that your home is kind of being taken from you before your eyes. It must be literally heartbreaking. no lo mereces para nada.
I do not understand why almost always the children of immigrants who were born on American soil, who are Americans, are not proud of their country which is the United States and its values, they are not proud of their American culture, they are not proud of their flag, they do not breathe their country and live missing cultures of origin, countries where they did not have or will have opportunities ...... I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

Your guest was amazing. She had so much information for each place you guys went. You can tell she really appreciates the culture in her community. Really cool video overall
This series rules! Would love to see episodes on Greek community in Astoria, Orthodox Jewish community in Williamsburg, West Indians in Bed Stuy, Senegalese in Harlem, Italian-Americans in Bay Ridge, Dominicans in Washington Heights - just to name a few!
My grandfather is a Tibetan Buddhist monk (Became a monk after he adopted my mother) and in college, I worked at a Tibetan restaurant. We would have momos every day and other Tibetan food! The family I worked for is actually from that area in New York! I'm so glad to see the culture getting recognition! FREE TIBET!!!
Ok girl your editing is fire, and I love the shots you get of New York City. Jackson Heights is the closest place I was able to find Southern California mexican food.
Stacey's story about culture and identity speaks to the experience of so many 0th and 1st generation kids in big cities like NYC that I don't think most people are familiar with. One of the great parts about growing up in NYC is that you can make friends who can relate so you don't feel like the odd one out. It's one of the things I miss the most about NYC now that I'm away for school.
Stacey, thank you so much for your vulnerability and knowledge! I appreciated how much you knew about each place you visited- it truly shows your love for Jackson Heights
I’m so glad you did Jackson heights! I spent so much time here during my high school years taking the 7 train everyday! I have so many friends who live there, it’s an amazing neighborhood ❤️
Thank you Elena for shedding light on Jackson Heights! I was born and raised in Queens, NY and I could never leave. Jackson heights is definitely a staple place and is such a melting pot neighborhood. As a Hispanic women who has two parents of the same sex, I have spent my fair share of time here and still take the 7 train today just to get to work so I’m glad you brought this neighborhood to your series. Also, Love this series and excited for more!!

So well made and informative !! 🥰 Completely foreign to me as an Australian but so cool to see a snapshot of Jackson Heights. Thanks Elena! And Stacey!!
Your creative vision really shines through this series and the vids keep getting better! Would love it if you had captions/text overlays for the dif locations and when wearing masks and talking (it’s a bit muffled). Can’t wait for the next episode in the series!!! xo
I love these and the apartment videos you’re doing of NYC! I feel like you’re helping romanticize New York again when in the past few years it has seemed so unattainable to the “average” person and all about the grind and hustle.
I love love love this video! The editing, the videography, the music, your lovely host, the food, everything made me feel so relaxed, dreamy and hopeful! Thank you Elena!
it’d be so cool if you could did a video with a Columbia/Barnard/NYU etc student with their dorm or near campus apartment and have them talk about where they live and their area of nyc? it’d be super awesome for prospective students (like me) to see more of the city around the campus :)
Thanks for visiting Tibetan/Himalayan Spot. Tibetans actually moved to America mainly around 90s, it was called the US Tibetan Resettlement Project. I would love to show you around some Tibetan/Nepalese foods in JH or refer you to someone knowledgeable in that regard. ps I know Jessie from last video, we went to same college.
this is awesome! just curious, are you compensating the guides in these videos? I think that would be really cool especially since they are such an integral part of these neighborhood tours, and I would especially love to see BIPOC New Yorkers getting the money they deserve for their contributions!
This was so amazing! I'm not sure if I'll be able to move to New York or not just yet, but one of the neighborhoods I've looked at is Jackson Heights and this video made it seem like I was visiting in person. Love this series, Elena!
