I have been playing guitar (even professionally for a short span a mere couple of lifetimes ago) for over 50 years, and I never had anyone demonstrate to me the practical application of the CAGED system as clearly as you have here. Thank you!
So glad it was helpful. Thanks a bunch! ❤️
Love the way you explain these things. Some instructors make things seem complicated. You make them seem simpler and doable. Thanks. I’m really enjoying your channel!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you❤️
Another great explanation, thank you 👍
Thanks for letting me know ❤️
I never really tried to understand this CAGED thing, mostly because people assume we all know what it is or don’t bother explaining or make it sound scary/complicated.
Thanks for making this simple and approachable. I had a big doctor visit today, but I’m hoping to take the guitar out after I feed Hughie. Can’t wait to try making sense of it with the guitar in hand.
Also, yay for the next road trip! Can’t wait! 🥳🛣️🚙🎸❤️
Hope your MD goes good! Thanks a bunch for watching ❤️
This is exactly what I was attempting to say in my earlier comment. You said it perfectly! Umm, not the doctor part, the CAGED part...duh!
Firm believer in the CAGED system, it was one of the first things I learned and then I started to learn 3 notes per string and triads and I saw how the patterns all fit together. Lightbulbs 💡. Thanks Cindy.👍😎👍
Thank you too!! 😀
Hey thanks ! I had forgotten how to do half that stuff. I am in my 70's and I forget more things than I used to. Thank you again for the great video !!! Great Job My Friend !
I love my 12 fret guitars ! That is a beautiful Gibson !
Thanks so much! So glad you are listening in❤️
A new guitarsafari! Wonderful.😀🎸🇦🇽
Yes indeed! 😀Thanks ❤️
Best explanation of CAGED that I ever seen. Thank you for your stepwise approach to teaching, and not assuming too much existing knowledge of the listener. Cementing the basics really enhances and expands the potential for learning.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks!
Wonderful lesson Cindy, Looking forward to the road trip. You said Springfield Missouri, I know you said mom and pop stores, but " Acoustic Shoppe" in Springfield is one of the best stores in the country. It's own by the Chapman brothers, Very big in Bluegrass music. They have many brands from $300 to $8,000. They stay up on all the tech stuff on every guitar. Very nice people to talk with.
I am looking forward to visiting the Acoustic Shoppe. I have enjoyed many of their videos too❤️thanks!!
Big help thank you so!!!🎉❤😊
Thanks for letting me know! I appreciate the feedback. ❤️
Very nice lesson. On that G shape i never play strings 6 and 5, just 4,3,2,1. That shape gets good use in the Stairway to Heaven intro!
Thank you! So glad you watching the videos too❤️
Great lesson!
Glad you liked it! Thank you❤️
Thank you Cindy. Makes sense of it all! I’ve read and heard multiple views on the CAGED system, but it seems simply to me. But I have a simple mind 😜
Thanks a bunch❤️
Thanks for that very practical demonstration of the CAGED system. I had never realized that two notes from the scale were missing and why. As far as your guitar store tour - you would really enjoy Maple Street Guitars in Atlanta if that is your travel area. LONG standing family owned - founded by a husband and wife when they were classical guitar students. Now they handle all types of guitars but selected for quality. Top notch instruction and custormer service as well. They are known for the good setups they do before they put new invetory out for sale. First class operation all the way.
Thanks for the store tip. I am not traveling to Atlanta this time. However, I added it to my list. Sounds like a great place😀
Excellent intro. My fingers were not made for a lot of these shapes. By the way, I can’t fret a bass note with my thumb, ever, not if the rest of the chord has to be clean. Works in progress.
Thanks for sharing ❤️
You asked what music stores you should visit. I recommend you consider visiting both the Acoustic Shop in Springfield, MO and Banjo Ben’s General Store in Exeter, MO.
Thanks. I am definitely planning acoustic shop. I will check on banjo Ben too. Thanks a bunch😀
Thank you for sharing with us. Have a great day.
Thank you! You too!❤️
Fankyou I love your channel.Kieron
Thank you too❤️
Thank you! :) 😂 Useful info. God bless you and keep you safe on your road trip. Have fun!
Ps... I'm on a 3 day trip away 45 min away from my home city. No agenda. Brought my guitar and hope to find some fellow musicians.... and maybe fish.
Sounds great! I use to love fishing…Did not catch a lot but it sure was fun. Hope you find those musicians too❤️
I have a request...if you can do a lesson of a finger pick version of Joe Diffie's don't let the old man in ...been trying to learn this one, just love the song
I put it on a list for future videos. Thanks for the idea. ❤️
Good lesson! Nut or... invisible capo?
Exactly 😀. Thanks❤️
Also - have you any thoughts Yamaha guitars in general? A friend of mine swears they are great guitars, but I have never played one.
It would not surprise me if they have a Yamaha guitar that’s absolutely fantastic. When I was young, the Yamaha guitar was a desirable purchase. I’m not sure why they became less popular because they made really nice guitars. And now on their high and Yamaha I’ve played a few and they are absolutely beautiful, so yes, can be really nice. Instruments, but I would play it first before I purchased.
Yamaha is the top instrument manufacturer in the world. Fantastic concert grade pianos and flutes, top jazz and rock keyboards, mixing boards, stereo receivers, you name it. All top notch. Especially their classical guitar lineup. For acoustic guitars, handmade LLs, new folk line FG and FS, Red Label, and the F800 series that so many players strum their first notes on and last for years. And electric Revstars, Pacificas, and SAs are great as well.
@@CameraLaw thank you! Have you heard of the Transacoustic line? No need for pick up apparently
@@cheryldavidson-guitargirl1 I've not played a transacoustic, but have heard good things. There are two levels, the higher one, the "L", is Yamaha's Luxury line, with an LL (dread-ish) and an LS (OM) are hand made in Japan, so one of those would be my pick. Here is a comprehensive review of the lower priced line, from a couple years ago: ruclips.net/video/3o9WZd6DUO0/видео.htmlsi=DeAdMGWijmBcMDWV
@@CameraLaw thank you so much!
In my world I'm glad the CAGED-system is a bit different 😂😂😂
don't want to have those chords running free ...
Definitely 🤣
